Corvette Class

Well, ive seen some other mods with these ships
i think its a good idea.
A corvette class is a cross between a Very Heavy Fighter and a Gunboat.
It generally has 4 level 10 VHF gun/missle slots, 2-5 gunboat turrets (level 8)
Its manueverabillty is closer to a gunboat's, so its not uber...
any other ideas? EDIT - i screwed up on the poll lol, so push other if you think yes.

voted "no" - cause its not needed. - gunboats cover whatever a corvette could do. - there is no niche between bombers and gunboats in terms of another class.

currently its hard enough to balance gunboats correctly - two of them can take out a battleship ... AND as we know... can take out fighters effectivly when equipped with enough missiles.

Gunboats are the ones with forward gun. Corvettes are all of the same class, but without forward gun. Simple, isn't it?

And with class 10 weaponslots, they could mount and use even a forward cruiser gun.

I suppose that could be used to justify that they're already in the game... typically I refer to the 'weaker' gunboat-class vessels as gunships - any of the GB's with no forward gun and 6 or less turrets.

I believe he was talking about the Fighter guns, not cap-ship weaponry. I've asked for this type of ship as a GunShip class instead of Corvette, but basically same idea...2-4 Class10 fighter gun slots and 1-2 Gunboat class turret slots.

If they have class 10 weaponslots they can mount gb and cruiser forward guns, like every fighter with class 10 weaponslots and with GB powersupply they can use them, while fighters can't.

Gunships do take that roll, and their is a super heavy fighter which is basically a Corvette except it doesnt have level 8 tur slots.
2 GB's can take out a battleship!?! 0.0 how would you balance that.

While I would like to have a corvette class of ship, I have to agreed with everyone else. There is no need and no space for one to be put into the current ship class system.
