"Yes, we should. Though, I have no idea what to do with it afterwards. Or what to feed it."
Megaera starts walking towards the edge of the forest.
"Currently both known hostiles are neutralised. We do not know if they hunt in pairs, in packs or alone and we just happened to stumble upon two at the same time. So. What is your problem with the Rogues? My issue with them is their low living standards and high maintenance ships."
Mi gave it a quick thought. "Well, I bet they would eat us if they could. So.. I doubt they are really picky.." She took a deeper breath then. "And I personally just don't like the behaviour of some of them. Just, well, we have former slaves among our Sisters too. So.. anything going past the required bits of business with them is simply too much interaction with them for me."
"You either control them or be controlled by them. I had to kill a few before they accepted me as their ship commander. Had to kill a few afterwards to stay in that position. I never cared about slave trade or piracy. I mostly just enjoyed the battles with the navy. But this gun is still very entertaining to keep around and I just have very few opportunities to find use for it. I wonder how well you handle it."
She laid her hand on Mi's shoulder.
"You would have made a fine addition to my crew actually. Mi-chan the huntress. Let us see your handling of Rogue hardware."
Mi chuckled at this, it was in a strange way cute. "Hai, let's see how I will do, Meg-chan." She replied, smiling. The weapon was rather heavy and she had a preference for small blasters or even blades but she was sure she could manage this little challenge!
They followed the muddy trail again. Besides their old footprints, there were now clawmarks of the Gaian creature that followed them back to the ship. After a short while Meg spotted the tail, which she cut off earlier, and picked it up.
"Taking this back to Golly."
She stashed it into her bag and they ventured further into the forest . Megaera did not even bother activating the thermal scanner again.
a humming sound could be heard behind Megaera and pointed her revolver at the source of it. It turned out that it was Mi who was humming a song.
She put it back into her holster and progressed through the thick vegetation
"You know. You never explained why you even wanted to come here with me. You do seem abit out of place."
Mi didn't expect this question to come up now that they were here and a bit relucantly stopped her humming to reply. "That's quite easy to explain.. I was bored and you wanted to go on an adventure like this one here, also you are quite nice to have around!
So it wasn't hard to decide. And well, you seemed to like having me around too!" She gave Megaera a wink and a pat on her shoulder, continueing to walk along the trail without a further word.
Megaera raised her hand in the air and gestured Mi to be quiet. She went ahead and disapeared behind a tree.
Not far ahead she encountered a large animal with a thick brown skin. It moves slowly between the trees and ignored Megaera. She waited until Mi caught up with her.
Mi gave Meg a nod and quietly followed her then. Carefully tipping her shoulder to sign Meg that she was there. Another animal? Was it going to be as agressive as the Dino Shrimps? Then she figured that it must already have noticed them.
The creature kept on walking forward with a slow pace and only reared up its head to look at Mi. It had multiple yellow spots on the sides of its head that Meg thought functioned as its eyes. Multiple long tentacles that sprouted from the front of its head left trails in the sand below the creature.
"Interesting. Hey Mi, something for you to ride if you can tame it."
Mi gave the creature a long lasting look. She had never seen something even remotely similar to this thing. Then she heard Meg's comment on it. Did she..? Was Meg making comments like some of the less behaving Sisters now or did she mean it as an actual mount? "Uhh.. I mean, why not." She gave back quietly and with slow movements stood up and made a first step towards the creature. It seemingly didn't see a threat in Mi as she managed to get closer and closer to it until only two meters were inbetween them.. that was when Mi gestured Meg to follow her!
