From my various ventures into houses on board of my Rapier, i've noticed that when a ship is deshielded and gets hit by a station/battleship class EM Pulse weapon, its core energy decreases, probably because of the power overload which causes a temporary surge and reactor disconnecting himself from the ship, therefore leaving only capacitors which load slowly when core connects back on.
My first experiment with Pulse class weapons had a purpose of creating a deshielding barrage against enemy capitals. Which i do not use anymore due to its weakness against hull and were replaced by Maltese battleship primary guns to gain sufficient hull tearing power.
Just as i began my experiments. I had to buy few dozens of EM Pulse weapons to salvage their ancient technology, and once again upgrade them. Just like with Autopulses.
But, to hit an enemy capital ship and make it loose its energy, the particle has to be fast. This was elevated by installing antimatter generator right before the part where EM plasma is generated to let a small amount of antimatter hit matter and annihilate each other, producing heat, pressure and gamma radiation. Further increasing projectile's speed.
First test made the gun literally melt itself into a hot goo of metals within few minutes of shooting. So considerable amount of heatsinks and cooling system had to be added. Thanks to that, gun was much more stable thereafter. The speed of the particle itself was so high that it visually changed the charged bolt, with antimatter leaving a big trail behind it. Further tests began being a bit dangerous even for laboratory enviroment. So i asked dad if he could lend me a ship with good shields. And since he is keenly interested in my experiments, he offered his own MNS-Moonlightning !
It was a spectacular view, seeing how the bolt of particles accelerated from an artillery class cannon towards his deshielded ship waiting in atmosphere. Only to be confirmed that his powercore suffered a big surge after the impact.
Might be a good addition on MNS-SHADOW against battlecruisers.
