With how the weapon balance (and more precisely, the balance of energy weapons) works now, the idea of "stay behind them" is a non-argument.
Also because of the aforementioned margin of error (in duels especially) issue, dueling SHFs on VHFs requires far too much effort and attention on the side of the VHF for a prolonged period of time. It's not fun to repeatedly do the same thing for five minutes just because SHFs have too much reload, knowing that you could get nuked to death by that stupid double mine dropper on the Spatial (that's the same reason why dueling a bomber was not fun as a VHF).
That said, there was something fun about seeing that gigantic old Spatial model going at you with 8 guns like AC-130. I think bumping that experience, giving SHFs more guns and more core at the expense of their armour and that stupid double mine dropper would be something to consider.

Just going to tell you, as i am not sure if you saw, but all Super Heavy Fighter's I think lost their second mine dropper slot, so t hey only have one mine dropper.
they recently dunked a signature second mine slot from a spatial
and a secret to beating a SHF is CD spam, you just yeet your CD bind and don't allow that phat gunship to turn on ya
you can also nuke away their guns so they'll be left with nothing but an auxilary
also shotguns are a pretty good solution against SHFs
it's a pretty annoying thing if it has 6 heavy flashpoints, yeah, but if you're flying something that can actually turn around and do some tricks, maybe you can catch it by surprise?

They are good in group fights, but bad at smaller skirmishes, maybe up to a 3v3. So, they are good as they are, they work as they intended and you need to adapt the suggestions the people suggested here to beat them. SHFs are just a tool for people who used snacs to insta kill VHFs, only now they can do it with even more forgiveness if they miss a dual MR, and they can spam it more often.
It's another thing to rule out the relevance of getting good in VHFs for duels when you can just be that guy and roll up to a fight with a dual MR SHF stacked with normal guns so the only way you'll be killed is if the enemy stacks 5+ people on you.
But of course if you shoot any ship with 5+ people, it's "ganking" and is unhealthy for the server.
Pretty much the only reason this is allowed to be in the game is because an SHF with dual razors can't touch caps, unlike a SNAC bomber. Even so I think they're grossly over survivable right now, the entire cap 6 and 500 regen shields thing is for the birds.

You know full well it's easy to stay out of a SHF's cone of fire in a smaller fighter. If you're attacking a SHF from the front you're not doing it right.
