My name is Sean Goodman, I administrate Freeport 9 in the Omicron Theta system. I'm contacting your news organization today to shed some light upon the Nuclear Explosion at the Tombstone Estate.
I work heavily with Ingenuus Research Group and Omicron Supply Industries in planetary research. After the attack Ingenuus provided the necessary vessel and equipment to perform an orbital survey of Gran Canaria. In your report BAF claims that over 150,000 sq. km. of Canaria is undergoing some form of Radiation Fallout. Quite frankly this is not only an unreasonable level of fallout for such a small nuclear device. I further believe the quarantine zone is being intentionally inflated by the BAF to ensure that their annexation of the planet goes uncontested.
In the interest of ensuring the Freedom of the Press I have included Ingenuus Planetary Survey Report below which clearly contradicts the BAF stance in your report.
Planetary Survey Report JY-22873 Planet Gran Canaria - Omega 49 - Independent Space
The device is estimated to have a yield of 200 kt. Given the damage to the environment the weapon clearly created a fireball with a radius of 1.89 km². Furthermore there was a Air blast roughly the equivalent of 20 psi sized at 6.67 km². At 20 psi overpressure, heavily built concrete buildings are severely damaged or demolished; fatalities approach 100%. Often used as a standard benchmark for heavy damage in cities. With the Air Blast dropping off to 5 psi at 29.5 km². At 5 psi overpressure, most residential buildings collapse, injuries are universal, fatalities are widespread. Often used as a standard benchmark for medium damage in cities.
The radioactive fallout however represents the larger risk with the following breakdowns in rads per hour:
Fallout contour for 1 rads per hour:
Maximum downwind cloud distance: 286 km
Maximum width: 51.1 km
Approximate area affected: 12,130 km²
Fallout contour for 10 rads per hour:
Maximum downwind cloud distance: 206 km
Maximum width: 34.9 km
Approximate area affected: 6,120 km²
Fallout contour for 100 rads per hour:
Maximum downwind cloud distance: 125 km
Maximum width: 18.7 km
Approximate area affected: 2,150 km²
Fallout contour for 1,000 rads per hour:
Maximum downwind cloud distance: 44.6 km
Maximum width: 2.51 km
Approximate area affected: 213 km²
Luckily the weapon in question appeared to be clean, or managed to achieve a full reaction of its load limiting the fallout to a small area. The radiation dose rate is reduced by a factor of ten for every seven-fold increase in the number of hours since the explosion. It is expected that nearby settlement will have no lasting long term damage from this event and local environmental conditions will return to favorable levels within 90 days of the downwind fallout. The blast site itself will remain contaminated for the foreseeable future unless cleanup operations are conducted.
I appreciate you bringing this information to my attention. I strive for the greatest level of accuracy possible with the information available to me. I will update my article with this information at my first opportunity.
