Which is coincidentally something most people are incapable of accepting about themselves. This is no way to go into the next year. So why not switch it around a bit? I'll start.
The people of discovery aren't all that bad. Once you get over the infernal smell of sulfur, you'll find that their horns are most majestic, and that the skipping of their cloven hooves is pleasantly rhythmic!
The problem with acceptance is it requires both individuals to be prepared to accept the other and for whatever reason people will often cling to their preconceptions rather than start anew in positive faith.

Lets not go there.
Exactly. I'm not aware of what negative you could have pulled out of that, but you chose to read into it negatively. It's a choice.

Maybe the best way is to improve yourself and lead by example. Then, possibly, others will follow.
Otherwise, what you get is everybody sat with their thumb up their backside, brain in neutral, waiting for someone else to make the move.

Absolutely. But it's one of these things where everybody needs to put at least a bit of work in.

People don't operate like that. As a general rule of thumb they see someone do something, and they follow. People aren't very smart nor are they morally 'good'.
Lecturing people on how they need to change or do better is the fastest way of them loosing interest.

People are generally cowards to their fears of being seen as different.
Not many will ever be seen to make the first move, as it could be construed as a sign of weakness.
The better man/woman is the one that stands up, regardless of those fears.

You also can't please everyone. Just keep progressing and pushing ^^.
