Its a joke geez.

Actually my system is designed so you can get a cruiser after the 4th member and a BS after the 14th or 15th member.
Assassin Twin,Jul 11 2006, 08:32 PM Wrote:Ok, if I understand math right, you have these backwards. A cruiser cost more than a BS? I have never bought either, but if I did, I would be pretty upset after buying the Cruiser. I think it should be 1/3. That would be a better comparison. I would think.

Woops i do that sometimes. I think of a number and write the opposite. I meant 1/3.

All the while, he flies near Battleships trying to scrape me off. I finally send out the white flag, and move back to Sigma 13. However, it was a ruse, and he bit. Knowing his trade route, I interdicted the trade lane and the chase began anew. It ended, an hour after it began, with me retreating, out of Countermeasures and getting very irritated.
He kept boasting how he has never been caught; I'd like to see him beat until he begs to pay, then beaten some more.
To get gunboat minimun 3 people.
To get cruiser minimun 4 people.
To get BS minimum 8 people.
To get 2nd BS minimum 15 people.
I hope i got it right this time ...

All i have to say is that th reason i left my last server is cause they were trying to tell me what type of ship i could be in. and would say this would discourage new meber especially those who like flying a BS. cause they would have trouble rizing int he ranks of a faction cause those with the caps ship will hardly want to give that position up... just my oppinion
Such as Freeworlds server. Unless your faction leader likes you you do not get to use a capship. Not even a gunboat is available. The Empire on the server has about 40 people... and 5 capships. 2 of which have inactive people getting them. People leave that server regularly because the civilian ships suck and there is no chance of flying any capships. Not even most pirate ships can stand up to the newer tir fighter versions. The only ones that can are uniques which are restricted to one person, and given out by, again, the faction leader of the faction that controls that unique.
I like the idea. But I don't see this going to happen.
1. This is an RP server, and we are all supposed to know the difference between 2 or more characters, no?
So with that in mind, this would work great for RP, with a few minor tunigs I think. If you know the difference between characters, you know this would be for THE RP SECTION of the server players. If you want to have a BS, fine have 5. I wouldn't worry about it. If you are here playing in character, you probably don't most of the time. I have neer even tried to buy one. Looked at the Nomad one in 1 player once I think. If your character is in a faction and has a cruiser assigned to him, he has a cruiser. Don't hate, RECRUIT and keep it interesting. TALK TO EACH OTHER, use the CONSOLE in game(click to talk in system and hit up arrow to console) So everybody is involved, save teh other way of typing for private lines and close range interception maybe of others calls type of thing for RP value. Don't worry if the noob in the BS comes after you, they might have it, but how hard is it to use? I have killed a few battleships in my time lone wolf in system fighters, no upgraded or modded weaps. CODED sometimes, maybe rippers a few times. But stuff you can get in the NORMAL game.
2. If you are online and have a problem with a freelancer, well I honestly switch up chars to something I can fight them in and got return the favor. How many ppl in BS's off cargo everytime the land? And in a BS how often do you land?
3. This really wouldn't come into normal RP on the server anyhow. even AW/WA have no more than 5 MAYBE at a time on at the same time, OR (remember this part) in the SAME SYSTEM. This should be a factor. If you have a Fleet They should have to be in a group, and together. Its not much of a "fleet" if its only 1 or 2 people, so it shouldn't fall into that category.
This also would be a great rule for faction battles, or at least an option for a type of encounter. Also you could make the AI that is in a fleet formation matching at least that of the one proposed, and increase the difficulty of them to be suitable challenge and even a threat.
Limit these rules to TAGGED names. Let it be known in the messages that pop up, that the un-tagged names are not included in FULL potential and interaction of the server, go to dicoverygc.com for further details, blahdy blah...
4. Make a change to the game that allows you to have multiple ships under the same control, as a benefit of 'group'. (this is kind of a side extra idea that is off topic, had to throw it in for input) This would allow for when you have the problem of FL attacking a "fleet" and have to deal with a fleet of fleets. Limit the fleets to certain amount of ships and types in them by numbers.
Say if you have 2 ppl you can have FTRs, 3-4 a gunboat in each, 5-9 a cruiser each, 10+ a BS each. But limit it to only one type of each size EXCEPT fighters. If you want to have more fighters you can, but you lose the highest level ship you could have, like by a slot system maybe. Each group member adds a slot you have available.
5. Make it a MANDATORY part of joining a clan/faction that FIRST thing you have to do is Join the Forum, that will limit people that join for a day or two and disappear. It will not affect the server, just the RPers. If you don't want to join all the way, don't get to enjoy it all the way, thats life.
The fleet idea is doable, but its not a matter of coding, its a matter of RP.
Thanks for lestening and I guess they weren't so simple after all, :rtfm:

I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot. - Virus
There was a mod I saw on Lancer's Reactor once... It was a something Escort Mod...
The basic concept was there is a commodity you could buy that would have a wing of fighters for that particular government (Such as Rheinland, the Outcasts, etc.) follow you around within systems they controll. They'll follow through Tradelanes, attack targets you do, but they're only good for the systems that those government's controll, and they don't follow you through jumpgates or jumpholes.
Just think, one PC Wrath is dangerous. One PC Wrath with a wing of NPC Wraths would be a terror. And don't even get me started on the cap-ships...
If I can find it again (Once Lancer's is back up, that is) i'll get a link, and we'll see if they might be willing to incorporate their mod with ours.
This is the real true story of rock and roll; it was not about anything more then, how to live your life, as a gangster, in sartorial splendor, and turning the world into a place where normality would never return again...- Malcolm McLaren
Sounds really cool Kane hope you can find it again.
