The Word around Freeport 11...

"They can't hit me." - If I had a nickel for every time that I had to say this to reassure somebody that I would be fine, I probably wouldn't have to fulfill this crapshoot job... Ah, who am I kidding, this is my passion. My ship's designation says it all: I scout ahead for a price. It can be anything, it can be anyone, I won't hesitate in snooping, disrupting, and/or being a general annoyance.

The Facts

Name: "C"
DOB: Unknown - suspected to be at least 30 years old
Origin: Unknown - suspected to have been associated with Bretonia or Liberty
Allegiance: Himself - Freelancer IFF/ID

Not much is known about "C". He is often seen exploring the Omicrons, getting in trouble with Nomads and disrupting hostile ships that are several times his own ship's size. What IS known are his rates and his work ethic, that are both very strict:

200.000 credits upfront to scout the current system, then an extra 100.000 credits for each subsequent system.
1.000.000 credits to assist in attacking a Human target. Nomad targets don't cost anything, but he'll appreciate a tip.
He rarely fires blasters on Nomads, let alone Humans - his work is in searching, tracking and disrupting. His blasters and mines are reserved for self-defense.

His personal alignments seem floaty, and he doesn't appear to be committed to any human faction. He's quick to defend the Zoners, however; probably because he relies on the Freeports for some odd idea of peace and quiet every now and then... His demeanor is also rather non-confrontational.

Chapter One

A quick trip to Omicron Lost...

...because why not? I've heard that there's quite a bit of Iridium and strange things there, so I decided to snoop it out. I did find a few asteroid fields, one of them has a REALLY big rock. There was a station surrounded by creepy AIs, and they seemed to ignore me... Unlike a certain bright LAMP who kindly tried to put me in my place. I had to escape quickly. Every fiber of my being was telling me to get away. I was losing it by just being close to it, hearing voices in my head and all that jazz... Something about a sacred sphere?? Did I seriously make that up? At some point I thought it was talking to me... But a Nomad...? Nomads don't talk to people. That just doesn't happen. I should probably go see a doctor now...

I'm certainly not going back there unless I'm paid more, that much is true... How the hell did I get out of that alive?!

A Nomad sympathizer...

My head still hurts from last night... In the worst way imaginable. A God-forsaken lunatic in a ship called "RV-Pennybrooke" spent hours arguing with a Zoner by Freeport 11 about how Nomads aren't so bad, that she's a herald, and whatever. Nothing of that sort really matters, since what ended up happening is that a bloody huge Nomad and a smaller one showed up to back her up; it was brutal, we had to make an impromptu defense squadron on the spot to defend the space surrounding Freeport 11 and failed miserably. A Core cruiser also showed up, but they were also torn to pieces. I was the only one who managed to get away with only a few scratches on my hull. Everybody else... well, they're alive, but I sure hope they have insurance.

This really upsets me. It's not something I can deal with on my own... All I can do is track down that wench. That's what I'll have to end up doing.

A bright party...

Nomads are taking quite an interest in Freeport 11. Joshua and I were coming back from a routine scouting mission, when suddenly the Nomad that called me a dancer - the Parthenope - showed up, followed by several other Nomad ships and a Commune Super Heavy Fighter. One of them lamps was a god damned Battleship! Some Core ships showed up, and we left the scene right after, because we couldn't afford being shot down by a huge squid. We took refuge in Freeport 9, for the time being. This is becoming ridiculous, I don't even need to leave the Freeport to find trouble with huge squids; measures must be taken to properly dispatch these aliens out as soon as they show up on the radar.

The logs aren't very interesting this time around, so I'm only uploading the guncams... Which are very interesting.

A new endeavour - as "Velvet White"

The Omicrons are a dangerous place, and everyone knows it; I, at least, should know it just as well as anyone, since it's part of the job. The Nomads are unpredictable, vicious, and will tear down everything in their path if they must. A new prospect from Freeport 11's Security Detail, the Velvet Wing, is a mostly-anonymous group of experienced pilots who are willing to temporarily give up their differences and their identities in order to protect humanity's interests against the alien menace around Freeport space, and I was coerced to join it as a Recon leader.

God damn it. I mean, truth be told, I was quite eager to join, but I REALLY didn't know exactly what I was getting myself into!

Eh, it ain't so bad. I don't have to put my precious Arrow into harm's way, and I am fairly confident that nobody besides Velvet Red knows who I am. This job is almost perfect for me - barely any commitment, I don't have to answer to anyone insane, and I get to track down and shoot some squids. Fits almost like a glove. Almost.

No one in the Velvet wing knows each other, we're all totally anonymous. That sounds like a really, really bad idea at first, but I believe that was made so that we can force ourselves to treat each other equally, as a first-and-foremost human unit to fight against aliens. Our squadmate, Velvet Grey, already managed to shout an Irra into leaving Freeport 11 alone. That aside, A Corsair Brotherhood wing was curious enough to meet us by Freeport 11's doorstep, which was surprising. I hope they don't feel like "taxing" us during an operation. It's a start, I guess... We'll have to see how this goes.

A Stunt!

I'm at a loss for words, to be frank. It's great that Grey is doing his best to get ourselves some juicy details on the Nomads, but he nearly got himself killed to a bloody moron in a LSF LABC. He's fine now, but the ramifications of this little stunt can be much worse if that ship's captain rats us out. I guess it's just a matter of waiting to see.
