Bretonian Police Authority New Scotland Yard - Briefing Room
Commissioner Steiner has called a late night emergency breifing for the tactical response division after receiving orders directly from the Bretonian government to seize control of IMG assets within Bretonia.
Commissioner Steiner: Good Evening officers, by now I am sure you are all aware of the developing situation regarding the Indepentant Miners Guild. We have received orders to make a move on Cardiff Mining Facility and I want to be sure that this operation is carried out quickly and professionally to reassure the citizens of Bretonia that even in difficult situations we act with a fair but decisive hand.
One of the duty officers begins to hand out data pads.
Commissioner Steiner: If you'll turn your attention to the pads you have just received, we have drawn up will give the overall details of the operation. role specific information will be given by your commanding officer before the operation.
After a few minutes has passed the Commissioner continues to speak
Commissioner Steiner: As you can see we aren't expecting any resistance but should there be complication I expect all of you to remain calm and follow your orders. We don't want this ending up with a list of casualties and turning the people against us. So go home get some rest and be ready for anything that happens tomorrow.
The Bretonian detachment consisting of 1 cruiser 14 fighters and 1 troop transport has mobilised and began to head towards the Cambridge gate. Deputy Commissioner Jeffords opens a secure channel to all ships - 10:15am
DC Jeffords: Good Morning officers, by now you should all know your assignments, I just ask that everyone stays vigilant and care is taken throughout this operation, we are not just claiming a station for Bretonia but we are here to show the public that will we deal with enemies of the crown swiftly and without causing disruption.
The fleet depart the from the tradelane and begin to jump through to Cambridge. Once all ships have passed through a systems check is initiated before they join the lane and head towards Cardiff - 11:32am
DC Jeffords: All ships, we are making our final approach drop out of the lane and hold at two kilometres while we scan the area to check for automated defences.
One by one the ships drop out of the lane and begin to encircle Cardiff Mining Facility but keeping their distance as ordered a few of the fighters break off and disrupt the lanes and set prepare to divert traffic away from the rest of the fleet. The HMPS-Ebony.Falcon moves in closer and begins to take detailed scans of the station section by section to try and determine what may still be left inside. - 12:14pm
Scans are completed, Showing only several automated turrets active on the station. The internal scans don't show any indication of foul play or civilians still on board but several sections are shown as inconclusive due to the stations heavy external armour and some sort of interference from inside the station theorised from the industrial equipment on board. - 13:04pm
Bridge Officer: Scans complete, within an acceptable error margin of 0.5% Most of the station is clear. The main industrial sections are giving off interference we won't know what is inside until we have teams there.
DC Jeffords: Very well, we will proceed with the plan. Open a channel to the HMPS-Norwich.
Deploy tactical teams one through five. Neutralise the automated turrets and get to the control centre once it has been secured we will send in more officers to take a deck by deck search.
An alarm begins to play throughout the Norwich to signal that they are a go and officers begin to rush around getting in place for deployment. The Norwich begins to move in close to the docking ports.
Commander of the Norwich: Take us in helm and prepare to fire pulses to temporarily disable and turrets we might come in range of.
Some carefully aimed shots are taken to disable 3 turrets closest to the docking areas.
Commander of the Norwich: Attempt to trigger the stations automated docking sequence.
Bridge Officer: No response from their systems, attempting to bypass.
Commander of the Norwich: make it quick the those turrets won't stay inactive for long.
Bridge Officer: I'm in. Starting docking sequence.
The Norwich docks with Cardiff and 5 units are deployed. - 13:43pm
Commander of the Norwich: Commissioner Jeffords, teams are deployed we will depart as soon as we are ready.
The Norwich prepares to move back outside of the stations defensive range. Before it gets there the station begins firing damaging their shield and disabling their weapon systems. - 14:01pm
Commander of the Norwich: All ground units we have taken heavy damage, it will be some time before we can send backup should it be required. Take extra care down there.
DC Jeffords: All ships maintain the defensive perimeter until the ground team has done their job.
Bretonian Police Authority Cardiff Mining Facility - On the ground
With troops on the ground and with the prospect of no backup looming in mind they begin to advance towards the control centre cautiously. The Station was almost unrecognisable with the corridors empty with only the quiet sound of the life support systems and their own footsteps as they advanced. As they passed through rooms that would have once been filled with equipment it was obvious that the previous administration had taken anything worth taking, computers had been ripped from the walls leaving exposed wires
poking out of the walls from where various terminals would have been.
Squad Leader: This place is a mess, stay alert we don't know what kind of surprises they have left for us.
The team carefully advances deck by deck until they eventually reach the control centre, like much of the station it has been ripped apart with only a few of the main computers still active. - 17:24
Squad Leader: Deactivate the weapon systems and then try to access all primary systems.
Engineering specialist: Ill begin to set up a temporary interface to try and bypass all of the damaged systems
It takes some time but eventually they manage to get control of the primary systems online. They begin to restart the systems putting in new command codes to avoid exploitation from the previous administration. Another hour or so passes and the job is done. - 20:01
Engineering specialist: We've done it the station is under our control, weapons have been taken offline and we are performing a full diagnostic as we speak,
Squad leader: Good work, lets call it in. I'm sure the commissioner will be very pleased.
The squad leader opens a comm channel to the surrounding fleet.
Squad leader: We are a go for full deployment, it's pretty rough over here but i'm sure the guys over at BMM can fix it up real nice in a few weeks.
Over the Comm - Deputy Commissioner Jeffords: Great job, the Norwich will send over the remaining teams to search the station. Ill inform the Commissioner that we are holding the station until we receive orders otherwise.
