I wonder if it's possible to set the wipe period to 1 year instead of 6 months. If not from the software, then by manually removing char files that havent changed for that long, or writing a program that reads whats inside the char file for the last log. And also have that make a difference between chars that are worth 1. billion or 1 million credits.

It would delete characters with less than 15 minutes activity after 2 weeks instead of 6 months, so I don't see that being too hard to do

I see your point, but christ almighty it's like having a huge weight lifted off my chest now. If it becomes necessary to debate this change again in the future, I think we could/should compromise with a middle ground solution like locked/shared ships don't get wiped.
Perhaps you should ask yourself if these ships need to exist in the first place? If you are having such a hard time keeping them from being wiped it certainly seems like nobody is interested in using them.
Just trying to provide a different perspective on this change.

They've all been logged at once in the past. Otherwise, they might be relevant for certain roleplay or lore.
The answer to that perspective is simply that I wish we had things to do, people to interact with, and things to use the ships for, instead of all the focus being put on Gallia. They only collect dust for me to wipe it off every three months because I yearn for when things would change.
I will sound really harsh but I would prefer if only official faction ships would be protected from deletion if there are concerns of freeing up shipnames. Would serve as advantage of belonging to official faction as well.

I mean if some ships existed in long standing RP and the person just went on a break where they couldn't log, it'd be nice to not come back to empty accounts. Plus there's a certain sentimental value of having ships for almost a decade
