Three Interdictors circled the half constructed station, the massive shield generator strapped to the central frame of the superstructure while the exposed fusion reactors powered the shield. Blasts from siege cannons slammed against the shield, shaking the generator lightly and rattling the station in a minor way as it soaked up the shot. Willow Grove, North Bay, Lakenheath. The three Battlecruisers circled around the station, not like vultures; Like massive birds of prey defending their nest. A wing of bombers performed precision strikes against the Arbiters and Judicators. Several guardians and a pair of Avengers, plastered with killmarks, chased down the other Legion fightercraft and tore apart bombers.
"All hands, brace for ordinance launch." A dull alarm sounded as the lights of the Battlecruiser Lakenheath shifted red, and the ship came to a stop, vaguely directing itself towards an Arbiter as the massive silo door on its fore slid open. The ships nose lurches downwards slightly as the massive nuclear torpedo is ejected from the silo, and the engine screams to life, spraying out ominous red-orange exhaust as it begins to accelerate, and arc to an Arbiter in the distance, whos shields begin crumbling under the withering fire of two Navy Upholder bombers, and an unmarked Waran.
All gunfire seemed to cease in the seconds building up. The massive torpedo slams into the hull of the Arbiter, all of the exterior screens flashing black as the external cameras built into the hull of the Lakenheath shutter to save the sensitive electronics. A few seconds pass, and the screens reveal the cataclysm outside. An Arbiter battleship, torn asunder, spilling out its guts in the form of machinery and unfortunate crewmembers who were not incinerated in the initial blast.
The Legion withdrew during the visual and electronic interference the nuclear explosion threw off, leaving a shattered Arbiter, and dead Judicators laying in pieces around Chadwick Station as their allies disappeared into the distance.
"Damage control, put out the fires on decks two and three. Well done, ladies and gentlemen."
A massive globule of green plasma zips past the defensive barrier surrounding Chadwick Station. Then another. Then a barrage of magnetically super-charged projectiles. The defensive platforms were active and performing exactly as expected, laying down a rain of hull-tearing fire at the distant hostile battleships. But the Legion didn't return with just vulnerable Arbiters and a handful of fighters. Archer cruisers that had been either salvaged or part of desertions were now lurking in the fight around the station, tangling with two similar assets from the Liberty Security Force.
"Bombing run." The agent mutters into her communications, the unmarked Waran swooping and firing out blast after blast of unstable blobs of barely-contained Antimatter from its dual Scorcher bays. Screaming past the side body of the Legion cruiser, the agent leaves a massive, bleeding gash along the side of the cruiser, venting one deck, and leaving its maneuvering thrusters damaged beyond use, spraying out valuable gas from the reaction control system before damage control came through. The damage was done however, the limping cruiser being preyed upon by the duo that were in defense of Chadwick.
She never did find out where the secondary blast came from. Her waran was kicked away from the exploding carcass of the Legion cruiser, then from her blind spot above her bomber, another explosion threw out her controls, sending the bomber spiraling in an uncontrolled manner back through the defensive shield of the station, and smashing into the side of one of the unfinished hangars, the agent being rendered unconscious in the barely-sealed cockpit of the bomber while the fight raged some kilometers away from the station.
