Current ship is the falchion, with 4 solaris guns, but im not sure, can fighters use torpedoes?
Did you try sabre full tenk?? he is good and for bomber try warran, warran is good too!! your choice mate
Fighter torpedos are no longer a thing. A Falchion is a rather good ship for the Freelancer ID, I'd recommend using 2 Debilitators MK1 on any fighter you use. A Sabre is not really a good pick for beginners, since you will be annihilated in any groupfight you enter. It is somewhat fine in duels, but you will probably struggle in duels without some experience.
The Waran is a good bomber for Freelancers, quite the strong anti-cap vessel.

The Starkiller and Sunslayer of old are no longer in the game, but you can use the Mini Razor energy "torpedo" (it mounts on the Cruise Disruptor/Torpedo/Missile slot), or for shieldbusting, the Hades Pulse Cannon.
On just about any Very Heavy Fighter (like the Falchion), this will prevent you from using a Cruise Disruptor, so that won't really help you if you need to keep someone from escaping. However, you could use a Super Heavy Fighter and mount an energy torpedo and a Cruise Disruptor.
Some SHFs mount bomber torpedoes, like the Spatial. Others mount fighter torpedoes, like the Werewolf.
There's also the Jackdaw (Moldy Crow replacement), which is a heavier Heavy Fighter that has 5 Class 9 gun slots, a CD/Torpedo/Missile slot, and a CD slot, and might be right up your alley if you're a Freelancer with intentions of dealing with transports (or gunboats, with some luck, skill, and maybe some help).
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.

Try the Spatial.
Super Heavy Fighter
Can mount 2 neutralizer/scorcher bombs as well as 1 nova and cd or 1 snac and cd.
Good fun to fly. Many many dakka guns.
Larger shield, can mount like CAU VII if i'm not mistaken.
Slightly larger then most other fighters but is good for anti-snub, anti-cap and anti-piracy
