His wife Lucy had had gone out for drinks with her friends and his daughter Katie was fast asleep upstairs.
He sat listening to old music, drinking and thinking. Still troubled by dreams, and it was slowly starting to take its toll on his life, drilling and poisoning his mind without remorse. Growing tired and easily distracted, slept very little. His CO, Jake Benson, was concerned and kept taking him aside to ask if he was ok after every briefing.
Yet the reply was always the same: “Yes Sir, I'm feeling just fine.”
Lucy was getting mad at him, he slept so restlessly that her own sleep was suffering as a result, and she couldn't stand the sullen moods that took him on some days. She knew it was to do with the dreams, but there was nothing she could do to help him out of it.
Only little Katie seemed unaffected by it all. She loved having her daddy around more, as Daniels patrols had been cut right down since the incident. But even she sometimes looked concerned when he disappeared into his bedroom for hours on end, and her five year old eyes could see the pain on her mothers face when Daniel retreated into one of his moods.
Daniel was glad to get some space for now. It let his thoughts wander and his mind be free from as much of the pressure of family life as he could bare to let go. Maybe he should go fishing or something, book some time out. Or take Lucy to the mountains on Los Angeles, the eastern rockies would be beautiful at this time of year, all snowcapped and glistening. Then maybe they could relax.
But he knew that would never release him from those dreams. He had to know more about what happened, he had to find that junker.
Lucy arrived home drunk and giggling with her best friend. Daniel jumped out of the armchair and walked across the room to hug his wife.
“Wow” he whispered in her ear. “This drunk and still beautiful.” Lucy's friend pretended not to hear, and only barely stifled a laugh.
“You silly old moose Danny. Could you think with your brain just for once?” she said jokingly as she kissed him on the cheek and walked into the kitchen to open a bottle of white.
Dan smiled as he watched her disappear round the corner.
“Danny?” called Lucy, “do you mind if we take over the main room for a bit? I want to have a little girlie chat... and its about you-hoo”
“Sure thing Lucy I was about to go to bed anyway... Night. Don't be too mean eh?”
Daniel walked up the stairs and fell into bed but didn't sleep. It was nearly dawn by the time a very drunk Lucy finally fell asleep next to him.
Daniel sat bored and distracted in yet another de-briefing from some action he wasn't part of. He had been removed from active flight duty and was working temporarily as part of a fighter control team on the ground. The job bored him and filled him with slight resentment towards the Navy, who still seemed to think him incapable of doing his job. Benson was petitioning Talon to have him put back on the active service roster, but Talon was a stubborn man.
Benson dismissed the room congratulating them on a job well done. Danny just looked at the floor by his feet, wondering when he would be able to do his job again as he stood up to leave.
"Not you Hale" came Bensons voice across the briefing room. "I have some news for you."
"I have convinced Talon to put you back on flight duty." Said Benson cautiously, "You're a good pilot, and we need you in space right now. Xeno activity has picked up lately and we're losing ships fast. These rookies we've got flying right now just arn't up to scratch."
"Sir, thank you! I've been... Oh god, I was going mad. Thank you so much..." The enthusiasm bubbled up in Danny's voice as he spoke, and he felt the apathy and dpression following the explosion fall from him. "When is my next patrol?"
Benson laughed "I thought you might be please to hear that. Your patrol is with me, tomorrow. I am taking a squadron of four to colorado in intercept some escapee's from Huntsville before they join the Xeno's. we have been having trouble with them lately.
Danny returned home to his wife Lucy and child Katie with a grin on his face.
"Whats put you in such a good mood Danny?" asked Lucy, pleased to see him grin for the first time in a week.
"They put me back on flight duty Luce!" he almost shouted. "I can do my job!" Danny laughed picking up his wife by the waist and swinging her round.
Lucy tried to hide the worry that spread across her face. "Just be careful Dan. I don't want another call like the last one."
"Oh don't you worry my love. It'll be fine"
*Manhattan Medical Facility*
Hyung opened his eyes. A man was sitting in a chair next to him, he was wearing a grey striped jersey, and
somehow, he looked familiar. The man spoke and his voice grated on Hyung's ears. He winced, and the
man must have noticed because he stopped talking. Hyung croaked out a question, his voiced mostly
unused for over 3 months. "Who...are....you?" The man looked amused as he said "Hello Hyung. I am
Doctor Timothy Dahn. My assistant here is Sandra and we have been looking after you these past 3
months." "Where...am....I?" "My boy, you are in the Manhattan Hospital - Psychiatric Ward. You have had a
traumatic experience and didn't cope very well, I am sorry to tell you."
The doctor stopped here, looking like he wanted to say something else, but had held it back. Hyung closed
his eyes, an awareness of other sounds coming into his ears and mind. He heard some music being piped
over the internal speakers that were hidden in the ceiling panels. He fought the effect that the music had on
him, but despite his best efforts he started to relax. He also started to realise how tired he felt, but thought
that was silly for having been in bed for 3 months.
The doctor noticed as Hyung relaxed and he smiled. Hyung opened his eyes again and said, a slightly
stronger timbre in his voice, "What ..happened? The ..last..thing I remember...was taking..a special
...equipment...shipment in my... ship...", here, he paused, "..my ship...what...where is... my ship?" The
doctor, looking slightly amused this time, said "We had it towed to the hospital docks. It's ready for you
when you are discharged from the hospital." A slight frown appeared on Hyung's face. "How ..long will...that
be..?" The doctor gave him a friendly grin, "When I say so," he replied. "For now, you are our guest here at
Manhattan Hospital. Don't concern yourself with payment. You have been subsidized by the Liberty Government."
Hyung stayed quiet for a little while, then the doctor glanced at Sandra and nodded his head slightly. Sandra
glided across the room and left through the open door, Hyung's eyes watching her path. The doctor stood
up also and made to move across the room, when Hyung said "Thanks...Doc.", "Get better, Hyung. We are
here to help you achieve that." the doctor replied.

Danny went through the pre-launch check and pre-flight protocols impatiently. He couldn't wait to get back out in space. As his ship emerged from the launch bay he accelerated quickly to maximum impulse, let out a quick afterburn then killed the engines to drift into the turn.
"Oh yeah" he thought "Just like I remember"
He slowly fell into formation as Benson's voice came over the comms
"I know its been a while Hale, but don't be messing about. None of us want to lose a man, and discipline is the key"
"Setting course for Texas"
The wing of four fighters flew in tight formation out of the Virginia jumphole and towards Planet Houston. From there they flew to Sugarland Prison and out towards the California jump hole.
Suddenly as the Navy fighter wing entered the Texas radiation field, four Xeno eagle class fighters came into scanner range. Benson's voice crackled over the radio, the signal distorted by the heavy outside radiation.
"Here we go lads, these are the boys we came for"
The ships collided in a hail of laser blasts. The battle was fast and brutal, the Xeno pilots had skill and determination on their side, but their teamwork left a little to be desired.
Daniel found himself under heavy fire from two ships, he flipped his Guardian round and fired a paralyser missile at the first of his assailants. The EMP pulse knocked out the Xeno's shield and Danny opened fire, blasting off the Eagle's right wing. The crippled ship turned tail and engaged his cruise engines.
"Damnit!" shouted Benson.
The fight now seemed a little more even. Benson and Hale turned to the next ship, as the other Liberty pilots blew up an eagle, the gasses from the cockpit escaping into the vacuum as a cloud of tiny ice particles.
This Xeno was a good pilot. His black widow blasts stripped Benson's shield and forced him into pulling out of his attack. Hale thought fast, he strafed his ship to the port side, and dropped in behind the Xeno. The Xeno saw this and reacted by turning to fire on Hale, but Danny was faster, He unleashed another paralyser missile followed by a torpedo, at this range he couldn't miss. The Xeno's ship simply exploded right infront of Daniel's guardian, the Xeno pilot didn't stand a chance, he would have had no warning.
Suddenly for Dan the world went quiet, it was like he stepped through a door into another universe, away from the brutal aggressive fight and into something peaceful and calm. Dan's ship flew through the wreckage and drifted away from the fight, he was utterly oblivious to it now.
"Hale!" Crackled Benson's voice again "Nice work, but this is no time for a lap of honour, get back here now"
Dan couldn't hear him, all he saw at first was white, with a rushing sound like blood in his ears, but somehow different. His vision cleared and he floated in and out of planets' atmospheres. Alien landscapes covered with strange plants and ghostly mountain ranges. Green suns and Pink skies. Tiny blue flickers of light passed across his eyes as his vision drifted from image to image. Such peace and torment at the same time, so much his body couldn't hold it. Danny writhed in pain.
Then came an image of his home, Manhattan. His family's house burning in blue flame as the ground tore itself apart in cataclysmic shudders, felling mighty skyscrapers, and reducing the nation he loved to rubble.
Danny's voice was just a scream inside his own head, a shout of desperation and confusion
And then, stillness. A feeling of ancient, beautiful wisdom washed over him, reassuring and comfortable, his thoughts put at ease. The apocalyptic images continued, but somehow they just seemed right. Humans were in the wrong place, and this was just a cleansing, nothing more, nothing personal.
"Dan!" Shouted Benson over the still distorted comms "HALE!, what the hell are you doing?"
Danny came to with a start
"Wha? Sir, we were fighting Xenos."
"We were, Danny, you weren't, is something wrong?"
"No sir no, I must have hit my head when that eagle exploded, perhaps some wreckage hit my ship... I don't know" he said hesitantly.
"Hmm, you weren't responding for a long time Hale, and I don't like that." Captain Benson sounded genuinely concerned. The welfare of his men was important to him, one weak link could bring disaster to an operation.
"Well, we've done what we came for, lets head back to base."
The wing set a course for the Virginia jumphole and turned on autopilot. Benson switched to a private channel with Dan.
"What the hell was that Dan? I hope it wasn't anything left over from... well, y'know."
"Sir I honestly don't know" Said Danny, trying to sound sincere "It must have been that explosion, hit my head on the inside of the cockpit or something"
Hale couldn't look in his CO's eyes at the de-briefing. Benson mentioned how glad he was to have him back on flight duty to everyone, saying Hale may have saved his life out there.
Danny left the briefing room quickly and went straight to the shuttle bay to catch the next transport to Manhattan.
He almost fell through the door when he got home, collapsing into the arms of his wife.
"Oh god Dan are you ok?"
"I'll tell you soon Hun, I just need some sleep for now."
For the next few nights Danny was haunted by the same images he saw in his trance. He feared the night and the difficulty that sleep would bring, and became more and more distant from his family. This took it's toll on Lucy more than anyone else, she was scared to the point of sickness. She loved Dan, and never had she expected this. Most of her anger was directed at the navy
"Dan, they work you too hard, you should have had more time off after the explosion. I just can't live like this Dan, I'm going nuts."
"I'm sorry Lucy, I just need some space at the moment. The dreams are back."
Lucy's eyes dropped to the floor
"You talk in your sleep Sweetie. Some of the things you say scare me, I just don't know what its about, and I want it to stop."
Tears filled her eyes as she tried to walk past Dan out of the kitchen. Danny grabbed her round the waist and drew her into an hug, she just sobbed into his shoulder.
"I just can't take this Danny."
"Shush now Lucy, shush, I'll sort it out I swear."
Two security guards passed by the robot that was repairing a computer system. Several doctors approached the station only to see it was out of commission for now. They all ignored the robot. Some complained about the systems always being down but none ever gave the bot a second look.
If Ratchet still had lips he would have smiled. Humans were so predictable.

On his internal com Ratchet silently sent a message to the Tiburon.
The Tiburon floated in space near Manhattan, a small object in the dark void of space.
Nightengale stood by the comm systems on the ship and turned to Cesar. The two watched as the streams of data flowed.
Beginning Decoding. Night said.
Ratchets robotic voice soon played over the comm
Cesar I have all the Data on Soong. This doctor Dahn seems to have reached some type of breakthrough with music. I need to investigate further. I am going into Soongs room. Ratchet out.
Cesar stroked his chin, Music? What does that have to do with anything?
Nightengale shrugged and sat down. I guess we wait for the next transmission.
Ratchet approached the psychiatric ward. One of the security personnel glanced up from his computer and upon seeing the hospital logo on his chest went back to his work.
He walked down the hallway to Soongs room and entered. He could hear music playing and saw Hyung seemingly sleeping in his bed.
Ratchet scanned the room but detected no other life forms. He approached the prone figure that moved slightly. He leaned over the Junker, Greeting: Hello Hyung Soong. I am Ratchet. I have a few questions.
Hyung opened his eyes and looked at the robot.
ahospital bot?
[font=Lucida Console]Statement: Do not be fooled by the appearance. Ratchet modulated his voice to a lower pitch. I work for the Culebra family they have an interest in your condition.
Culebra? like the smelter?
Ratchet nodded. [font=Lucida Console]"Statement: He is also the Adjudicator of Rochester."
"ah...the..congress" Hyung closed his eyes and sighed. He opened them and looked at the robot firstmyshipIneedsomething.
[font=Lucida Console]Query: What do you need?
Soong looked around then motioned Ratchet closer. He whispered something to the robot then fell back asleep.
Ratchet straightened and walked out of the room.
An hour later the robot reentered the room and placed an object in Soongs hands. [font=Lucida Console]
Statement: Now, I have a few questions.
Once again Soong motioned for Ratchet to lean closer. The robot did and began to record all he heard
Daniel crouched in the corridor wondering again why he had talked himself into doing this. It was madness, professional suicide, but he just had to know.
He waited for the guard to pass while hiding in the shadows then crept up to the door.
Three days earlier.
“Right” Daniel said with more than a little venom in his voice. “I don't like you, and you don't like me, but this suits the both of us so just co-operate ok?”
“I need to know how to get into my own flight records, they've been classified”
"Its gonna cost you. You're talkin' about some serious hacking. Lane hacking is one thing, but hacking into the middle of one of the most secure places in Liberty?" Said Discard Renton. He was on the list of Hackers known to pirate traders around liberty, stealing information on their movements and tracking them via trade-lane records. Not one of the boys in a ship, but a real tech wizard, and as it turned out, a complete tool.
"yeh I know. But this is gunna keep you alive. I could turn you in right now... and you'd be going to huntsville. You know what they do to little hackers like you there?"
"You wouldn't be able to catch me. And don't threaten me like that. I do this cuz I like doing it. Besides...they wouldn't be able to hold me."
Daniel Just looked at the little fat man's frame as he hunched over the keyboard and chuckled to himself. "heh" he thought "This guy really is a moron"
"Alright. I'l help you. I hate you, but I hate them more. It's...delicious... when an insider turns on their corporate-bullying-self-absorbed-anti-people-****-*******-corrupted-government. That and it gives me more time to practice my massive talent. Stand back and watch the master at work." Discard pulled up a diagnostic screen and started tapping away at the keyboard. Daniel watched, uncomprehending. After awhile Daniel got itchy feet and started to talk. Discard held up his index finger saying "shhhhh. I need quiet. I can't stand it when people talk too much. It gives me a headache, and then I can't concentrate on my awesome skills. Hush little puppy. Be still. Sit. Good boy. Give me that pizza."
Discard Renton held out his hand infront of Daniels face, his other still tapping away at the keyboard. Daniel suppressed the urge to break it.
Daniel sat down and tried to ignore the ridiculous babble coming from the hacker as he talked his way through how to hack the system
"Ah... Problem." said the hacker as he stopped typing. I can't get into the computer that holds your files. All agents' files are stored on a none-integrated mainframe. From the looks of it, they transfer any information onto it using portable-flash pads. Those are used with actual physical wires (I can't believe they are so behind the times.) Looks like you're gunna have to do this yourself, bucko. Now I can tell you exactly what to do, but you're going to have to listen."
"If this doesn't work and you're just screwing with me, you're dead."
"Yeh yeh yeh... Look... you just have to *techno-babble* and then *more-techno-babble* Danny started to take notes and then just gave up. He interrupted, "Look I can smuggle you into the base in my cargo hold, just stay on a comm line from there ok, and I can just do what you say."
"Oh man... I don't know about that, that's getting a bit dangerous isn't it? I mean, I don't like pain y'know? And if they catch me, there is going to be some seeeerious pain, y'know?"
Hale stood amused yet nervous and watched the little man squirm for a second. "Right" he said firmly "we do this now"
Daniel swung himself up into the vent above the door and crawled out of sight.
"This way will be quieter" he told himself, while panicing inside. This would undoubtedly get him court-marshalled if he got caught, and these thoughts raced through his head. Thought of his wife living without him and his little daughter growing up without a father. But now wasn't the time to think about that, he pushed it to the back fo his mind as he pushed on with the next part of the plan.
He had spent a week studying the guard rota for the record room. There was a three minute window between two of the guards as one shift ended and another began. The guard on this station was formed of Liberty Navy men who were either too old or too stupid for active duty. Discard had already hacked the security cameras and had them rolling yesterdays recording. There was little threat posed from them, the only issue was hacking the records themselves in time. He only needed the info from the flight recorder from the day the nomads attacked and destroyed his ship, then he could be out. Discard said that could take up to four minutes depending on the amount of information that needed to be decypted.
Daniel had bought an unregistered datapad from a shady shop in a run down district on Planet Manhatten and Discard had modified it into a 'hacker's dream' or so the little obnoxious man had told him.
Discard himself was in a survival pod in the cargo hold of Daniel's personal ship in the docking bay of San Jacinto station . Only a Starblazer, but it was just a little run-around for him, transport to and from work, and it did the job.
Discards voice came crackling into Daniels earpiece and it made him cringe.
"Y'know I could just leave you to get caught Hale, you'd be screwed then"
"So would you, I mean geezzzz, you're encased in a survival pod in my cargo hold... A wanted man, on a Liberty Navy station you shouldn't really even know exists."
"yeh... right" said Discard with more than a little fear in his annoyingly high pitched voice. "Lets just get this done yeh? The ventilation into the room should provide you with a good enough entry point, and you don't have to crack the door on it either."
"Just like out the movies. Hey Discard... I take it you read comics" said Danny with a slight chuckle.
The guard walked out of the records room, and strolled around the corner. Discard who was watching the feed from the hacked security camera's whispered down the comms
"Right Danny, this is it, go now."
Hale dropped out of the vent, landing awkwardly on the floor of the record room
"Don't call me Danny he grunted as he landed, only people I like can do that."
"Yeh yeh Hale, you ain't got much time... Right, there should be a socket for your datapad round the left hand side of the screen." said the little man nasaly, his voice grating on Daniels nerves with every word.
"Right, so I just stick this doo dah in here yeh?"
"Ohhh for... yes Hale, and hurry, rememeber if you're caught so am I... Right.. Ok I'm getting the link through now. Flight 728, ID Navy Epsilon 4: Hale... Ok. Im downloadoig the file now. This is gunna take... lets see, 3 minutes"
"Thats a bit tight on time Discard, can't you make it go any faster?"
"No Dan, I can't... Why did I agree to this? I'm gunna get shoved in jail... ME... In Jail... I can only imagine... ohhh god, why am I doing this..." Discard was panicing in the tiny survival pod, Hale could almost hear the sweat pouring from him. Time was short and Dan was starting to get nervy too now.
"Ok we're done... I just need another minute to cover my tracks.... Annnnndddd we're done, grab the datapad and get back into that vent.
Hale breathed a huge sigh of relief, quickly grabed the pad and stuffed it into his jacket pocket, grabbed hold of the ledge next to the vent he came in by and swung himself silently up into the hole. He pulled the grate back across, and got out of sight just as the next guard tapped the entry code into the door.
An over weight man of about 40 walked into the room and wandered over to the records mainframe. He looked at the screen.
"Odd" he muttered to himself, "seems like the last guy didn't lock it down before he left. God... you just can't get the staff..." he said under his breath as he ran the lockdown proceedure.
Dan crawled silently back the way he came and dropped out of the vent system near the docking bay. He walked calmly to his ship and requested take off clearance form the on duty flight controller.
"Roger that Hale, we have a full pattern right now."
Hale looked out of the window of his 'blazer and spotted three LSF agents in the docking bay they wer pointing at his ship while the Navy gaurds tried to usher them out.
"Ok, you're cleared to take off, I'll be opening the bay doors as soon as the bay is cleared of personel."
The agents were eventualy pushed out of the door and Hale took off. They had done it. He didn't know what to feel, the key to so much of his life over the last few months, the dreams, his permenany distraction, the lot, was stored in his datapad now. He would be able to answer so many questions. Who was the Junker, and why did the nomads not kill him. He felt hope for the first time in months.
"So, where do you want dropping off Discard? Im a man of my word."
*Manhattan Medical* Eighteen days after that robot had visited, Hyung awoke in the middle of the darkest part of Manhattan's
night, his bed sheets soaked with his sweat, and looked around the room frantically. The doctor had told
him "we have been monitoring you while you were in a coma. Now that you are regularly awake, we will
monitor you, with your consent, during the day". The nightmares that Hyung had been having were
starting to get mixed up in Hyung's mind, and Hyung wanted to forget them. At the same time, Hyung
couldn't get them out of his head, and he thought about them during the days as well as at nights. His appetite had returned and usually ate the food that was supplied by the doctor, or the nice looking assistant,
with gusto. Hyung had been formulating an escape after that first day awake, and tonight was the night.
Hyung lay back down on the bed and listened to the sounds of the night. Outside the hospital, he heard the sounds of Manhattan at night, and with a population of 2 million, as well as being the central hub of all
Liberty and indeed a large majority of Sirius, it was as active at night as it was during the day. At night
there were more 'unsavoury' people roaming around - with 'business' transactions that were best kept
hidden from authorities. There were ships bustling here and there to make the deadlines that corrupt or
overzealous business men and government legislation forced upon unwilling workers. Couples in love
walking and laughing or teenagers talking loudly and without a care in the world.
Inside the Hospital, in the psychiatric ward, it was quiet and still. Hyung closed his eyes and his sense of
hearing became more focused and acute, a little trick that oft comes instinctively to many people of a
similar lifestyle to Hyung. He heard the low hum of the electronics in the room and the uneven shuffle of the
hospital rent-a-cops who walked past, up the corridor. He heard people that talked quietly a few rooms
down and the night shift as they occasionally moved around, doing their duties as required. Hyung opened
his eyes and got off the bed. He paused as he stood up, with the hairs on his legs raised as his feet
screamed out in protest at the cold floor. He unsteadily walked over to the cupboard, opened it and saw his
fluffy bomber jacket, neatly suspended in a mini stasis beam, along with his other clothes. He listened once more
to the sounds of the hospital and, satisfied that he wasn't going to be interrupted, grabbed the jacket and
pulled the jacket out of the stasis beam. He held the jacket with one hand and fiddled with the object in the
inside pocket, the object that Ratchet had given him from his ship. He pulled it out of his pocket, switched it on
and saw a green light on the side.
Hyung, satisfied that his device purchased from the Lane Hackers worked properly, pulled the wires from
the object's slots, put the object back into in his pocket and quickly got dressed - leaving his shoes behind.
He sidled up to the door and went to one side where the internal electronic lock was supposed to be. Hyung
pulled the round object from his pocket and inserted the wires, then he put it like a stethoscope on the wall
where he thought the lock was hidden. He pushed a little button on top of the object and winced as a quiet high pitched whine came from the device. Nothing happened. Hyung stood there for a minute thinking things
through, trying to remember what the Lane Hacker had said. He stood upright and held the device at arms
height against the wall and depressed the button. This time there was a click from the door and it parted
slightly with the door frame, a sliver of light came streaming through the door. The device switched to
standby and the mini EMP device stopped transmitting.
Hyung put his eye to the door and flinched as the shadow of a nurse walked past, yet the slightly open door
went unnoticed. After an extended time of watching and listening, he slipped out, silent on his bare feet.
He heard some footsteps and looked around frantically, saw a clothes basket and hid in it as more nurses
went past the corridor that he was in.
He hoped Ratchet had carried out the request that Hyung had asked of him.
Sovereign Wrote:Seek fun and you shall find it. Seek stuff to Q_Q about and you'll find that, too. I choose to have fun.
Hyung waited in the clothes basket until he couldn't hear anymore people nearby,
climbed out of the basket and walked up the corridor. The psychiatric ward was on
the ground floor and had various security and DNA-checked access points into the
main corridor, one of which was his destination. Hyung looked at his chronomecha.
He didnt have a lot of time. His pace quickened as he thought of the consequences
of missing his timeframe and subsequent questioning. In Hyungs experience, computers
and software could be fooled, but humans not as easily. Ratchet had assured Hyung
that his request was a simple one - especially for an Advanced AI such as 'him'.
If anything, it sounded like Ratchet had taken offense at the suggestion that 'he' wasn't able to do it.
Hyung ducked into a room and quickly scanned around. He saw a doctors coat folded
away and went over to it. He put it on, over his bomber jacket and took a few deep
breaths. The next part was going to be the hardest. He took a few more deep breathes,
straightened up and walked out into the corridor. He hoped his bare feet would go
unnoticed as people saw his white coat. As he stepped into the main corridor and walked down,
some nurses glanced at him and gave him a funny questioning look, but he nodded at them and kept walking. One nurse in particular turned her head as she frowned at him, and followed his
trail down the corridor. He kept walking, down past doors and windows, and nearing the end
of the corridor saw her reflection in the window. She had just turned away from watching him,
and went back to talking with her coworker and on their way to whatever called them at this
time of the night. Hyung rounded the corner and waited a few seconds, and turned back into
that corridor. He walked calmly over to the nearest door and pressed his thumb to the plate,
hoping that Ratchet had done 'his' part. After a nerveracking second the plate turned green
and Hyung pushed the door open.
He walked out into the cold night, his bare feet padding on the permacrete. His first thought
was to find, get, steal or buy some shoes and as he walked past a public trash compactor
he pulled the coat off and dumped it in.
