well - i have made this advanced eagle concept ( i had a similar one some time ago ) ... now the question is ..... how much sculpture like can ships be. - this ship here is based on the eagle chassis... but of course its much closer to a "bird"
question is ... far fetched to make ships that are so close to their name-giving original ( in that case the eagle ) ... or should ships really rather ( still ) be blocky like a dromedary.
another example of very sculpture like design ( that utterly failed ) - this is .. i think its like attempt number 6 on a bretonian fighter. - but that time i got carried away with the "all bretonian ships are fishes"- well, there is a reason i usually don t post failed models....
the first ship reminds me of thunderbirds for some reason. i personally like the design for the first ship, but i guess to answer your question, you need as much sculpture as would be neede for you to design the ship in such a way, it looks realistic, beautiful, yet practical.
id like to see where u could go with the first ship persoanlly. the second one is... u know... >.>:P
i think the second one should be a sanction ship - instead of banning people we should make them fly a fish:laugh:. -
about the first one .... yes, the first one is a serious design - someone asked for another eagle alternative ( something like more a generic civi ship that is roughly based on FL ... so not like the virage or the homeworld designs ) .... thats when i tried to make something like an eagle.
since it says on the eagle ID that "cost is not really a matter" - the thought was to make a ship that is more a show off than really a practical design. ( which doesn t mean that its not good in combat, but it means that its more expensive )
the plan is to add some "feathers" to it, - the usual details that we have on the eagle. - about the skin, i wanted to go primarily by what the eagle looks like - with a few silvery elements.
lets see if i get it done and see what igiss says about it.
I like the first one reminds me a vulture for some reason though very bird like anyway.
Could see it fitting into the eagle line wings remind me of the Boeing Bird of Prey actually.
I'd loose the "Bird tail" that you made, with feathers and all.
Ships are made to be practical, and then given a name by the looks.
They are never made so they fit with the name.
Same goes for the claws. If they don't have a purpose, loose them.
Other then that, it's pretty damn good.:)
