- Telekinesis, telepathy, inhuman reflexes, manipulation of the will of other people, I am much stronger than I was before and, it seems, even smarter. I can’t say for sure, but tactical tasks began to be much easier to me. Or you interested in what specific "tricks" I can arrange, in detail?
"I'm interesting in everything." The man replied, folding his arms across his chest. It was difficult to read his emotions, but it was clear that fear was not among them - it could have been the robot patrols on this level, or the certainty that in his own interest the infected girl would not harm him.
- You are a complete mystery, Lusignan. Oui... If you're really interested in everything that people like me are capable of - it's worth discussing in a more comfortable place. For example, in the training grounds for soldiers. To demonstrate everything, I need a series of tests. Complicated. Those that pass your agents. It's about physical and psychological. Also, I need a couple of test subjects. The ones you don't feel sorry for. The prisoners will come down for the demonstration. Here and now I can only do something like this.
Nymph's eyes were again enveloped in a glow, this time much weaker. At the same time, she did not take her eyes off Lusignan's face. She extended her hand to the side and one of the laser scalpels fell off the table, which in a couple of seconds was already in the Nymph's hand. She grinned, and then, in the same way, returned the scalpel to its place.
Lusignan looked at the woman with an unreadable gaze, then after taking a few seconds to think about it, replied: "We don't have any prisoners whose disappearance will go unnoticed, but I don't think that will particularly hinder a demonstration of your abilities."
Gesturing for her to follow, Lusignan left the morgue. The door hissed shut, canning the room as soon as Lorraine left it. Rather, they passed the checkpoint at the entrance and took the lift up to the VIP hangar section at the top of the building - his personal hangar was empty, the Lynx he was using was on modification in another bay, so there the girl would have a chance to show her skills there away from outsiders.
"Shoot." said him, once they entered and doors closed after them.
The Nymph entered the hangar looking around. When she finally found the weapon rack, she headed towards it. She carefully examined the samples offered to her for several minutes, until took a plasma carbine, three daggers, two blasters and several plasma grenades from the counter.
- I'm assuming this isn't "skeet shooting" going on here. My opponents will be combat robots, right?
"Exactly," he replied with an indulgent smile, pressing a few buttons on a watch-like device worn on his left hand. The robots closest to the signal source awoke, flashing their single red "eye" lights.
The three anthropomorphic-looking robots moved closer, staring at the officer with unblinking eyes. Limited by their virtual artificial intelligence, they could not go beyond the confines of the program, and rare errors usually resulted in the robot breaking down due to processor overload - a precautionary measure, an attempt to prevent a possible machine uprising. Their three-legged arms could easily hold their intended rifles, melee weapons, and sometimes arms and legs, the most ruthless but brainless weapons ever devised for ground combat.
Antonin gave a voice command to disarm de Lorraine. He did not give the girl time to prepare or any damage - the robots would not kill her, that was their program. At most they would cripple her, but nothing is incurable. Turning toward her, the three robots rushed to attack.
This is exactly what she expected. Her eyes flashed purple and an attempt by a nearby robot to grab her arm failed, leaving the robot briefly puzzled.
Following this, she briskly jumped towards the second robot, moving with an anomalous, some kind of predatory beast. Before the robot could launch an attack, the Nymph attacked it at the servo joint located where the human's pelvis is. It was not a shot or a blow. She "kicked" him with a powerful kinetic impulse, from which the robot was thrown one and a half meters back. Without hesitation, the Nymph drew one of the daggers and threw it at the robot's head, trying to damage the target detection systems.
While the third robot closed the distance to her, she jumped onto a metal container, and practically without aiming she fired a burst of plasma discharges at the robot and before he could even answer her, she moved behind the containers.
One of the robots easily deflected from the knife thrown at him, just turning his head a little and missing it in the vicinity of his "neck. A moment later he continued his attack on the fighting girl. Thrown away by the kinetic impulse, the robot stood motionless for a second, and then threw itself into the offensive, skirting de Lorraine from the side. The third one, thrown behind the crates, began to rise noisily, but obviously was not yet ready to go on the attack.
"Something new..." - she said. Her voice was distorted again.
The Nymph answered and began to change her position, hiding behind a kinetic shield from possible attacks. Her eyes glowed much brighter. She did not expect an easy victory, but such a serious opponent, too. She decided to throw the carbine on the ground and this time rely entirely on her abilities. Another powerful jump, and she took a position higher than the robots. Without hesitation, she telekinetically pulled the huge container, trying to rip it off its mounts so that it would fall on the opponents. This did not last long, but it was clear from it that the attempt to move such a heavy object became almost a test for her. The metal cracked and the container fell off on the robots.
