With great care he clinked his glass against hers and then brought it back to himself, slightly hesitant to actually drink the contents but he went ahead with it anyway since things had gone well so far. The relief was the fact that this particular brand was something he didn't find particularly unpleasant to drink and so at the very least the contents were going to go down easily.
Prepared to match the pace she was going to have when it came to the drinking this, he made sure to offer a token phrase in response though. "To the future, signora de Marco." It seemed like an appropriate thing to toast too, if a little cliche but it was her advice he was following having said that.
She tapped her champagne wine glass lightly, nodded her head slightly at his toast, and took a light sip. Her face still had that cool, say-nothing expression adorned with a slight, polite smile. She sipped lightly at the expensive champagne from her glass, watching him with her grey-blue eyes.
"Bene, Signor Morreti. It appears that we are done in here and all that remains is give you a symbolic, diplomatic gift to you."
She turned her gaze towards the bartender and waited a moment before he caught her eye. Giving him a slight nod, she turned her gaze back to Damien Morreti.
"You do not have to be worried, Signor Morreti, I have not broken conditions of our meeting as Signor Marlin is not one of my men and I merely asked him to do a one simple task for me once I give him a signal."
The mechanical clatter of feet on the bar floor announced the arrival of a robotic waiter, and instead of a tray to carry drinks and food, he carried a small oblong silver box with red gold gilded corners and a glass lid. Inside the box was a metal writing ink pen-stylus with a silver barrel and several red gold accessories, including a longitudinal engraving of 'Damien 'Cobra' Morreti' in ornate script.
"A good custom during the business meetings, Signor Morreti, I hope it will serve you well if you will decide to use it. It is made from the hardened silver alloys and you do not have to be a too careful with it, a handy quality in your line of work I believe. However, I will not be offended if you will not be using it as I was merely guessing a suitable color combination based on what Signor Clark told me about your movement and its symbol."
With those words, she carefully placed her empty crystal champagne glass on the table and slowly stood up, ready to leave, but still politely awaiting his reaction and acceptance of her diplomatic gift.
When the box was set out before him, he actually hesitated to touch it, as if in some way him trying to do so might spoil what he was being given. It was definitely a sign of appreciation, even if there were no words to convey that right now and just the fact that his eyes seemed to keenly inspect what he'd just been given.
"To be given something like this and then not use it, I might actually call it a sin." Mentally reassuring himself, he'd finally take hold of the small box and turn his gaze back to her, nodding deeply before he'd speak again. "Thank you." He almost felt guilty he'd not got her anything now, but even if he had something made for her there was every chance it would seem mundane relative to the expansive amount of possessions she already had.
"Prego - you are welcome, Signor Morreti. Now, I will take my leave and prepare the necessary documents for us both."
She gently lifted the chair she had been sitting on and carefully slid it back to the table. With graceful, slow steps, she walked over to Damien Morreti and gently offered him her hand in a gesture of farewell, again to be kissed as she did in the beginning of their meeting.
"Arrivederci, until we meet again, Signor Morreti."
The moment he was offered her hand he stood up and took it in his and naturally the delivery of the gesture was more enthusiastic than the first time. Once he'd kissed her hand again and had a moment to look at her, he simply responded in kind. "Arrivederci, signora de Marco. I'm sure it won't be long."
Once she'd left, he pocketed the gift he'd received and retrieved his things, it was evident that he was going to leave the station now that his business here was concluded. The fact this deal seemed to be going through meant there was a lot of preparation which now had to be seen to, and it was hardly going to be simple or quick.
