A distorted image with code scrolling by suddenly pops up on your screen. You can't make out any features but can tell the comm. is heavily encrypted. When the individual begins to speak, you can't make out the tone of their voice or whether or not they're male or female. It comes out as distinctly digital.

Why hi there NSE folks! My name is RTRN-NULL. So, don't be mad, I sort of hacked your comm. array to download my encryption protocols to your station so that we can communicate with assurances that no one will be listening in. This will be the last time I hack anything belonging to you from here on, I just wanted to make sure we had the privacy to discuss the things I'm going to be talking about here.

I'm in a bit of a pickle, you see. I recently, hmm, acquired a vessel in a manner that wasn't quite legal and had materials shipped to me from people all around Sirius to do a retrofit on said vessel but...well how to put this--I don't have a place to actually do the retrofit. I rummaged around in your files (sorry!) and saw that you may have a location out of sight that I can bring the vessel to in order for the retrofit to go off well without anyone knowing what I'm working on.

I'll of course pay for the use of said location and will pay handsomely. The only thing that I require is absolute secrecy. I'm not keen on revealing my identity to anyone so I would need the area I'm working on to have no NSE personnel in those areas. I would need a few months to do the work on the vessel unless you would have some employees that are skilled in the areas that I am in and can do the work to a very high level. From your records, I've seen that you have quite a few.

I've done the designs for the full retrofit of the ship already and have them attached. Please review and see if you have anyone that can meet this level of engineering, network engineering, and computer science and get back to me at this same comm. link. I'll leave it open for the time being so that you can respond. If you don't have anyone that can, or you don't wish to get involved with me, then this communication and the files I've sent you will disappear. The entire NSE database and its most important files are stored on our dark skies server which is simply a closed circuit with no entrance from the outside world. A hacker needs more than networking skills to hack into our dark skies server because the only way to do it is by being inside the NSE dark skies server hardware rooms in person. Hi again, NSE folks! A professor huh? Interesting stuff! Wasn't aware there were any professors in the corporate fields! Something to look into later I suppose.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, things have changed since we last spoke as well as the ship type. You see, the [REDACTED] that I was flying before had some serious problems with it's superstructure. The ship was coming apart by the time that I got it to the [REDACTED] system. Probably something to do with...acquiring it before it was finished. It's been bought by some enterprising old timer looking for a project where as I purchased his old Bustard Cruiser. As such, the plans I had sent you before are now outdated and moot. I spent the time since the last transmission working on new blueprints for what I need on the Bustard. It's fairly intricate and complex. I've added quite a bit to the design since the previous one I sent. I hope your people are still up to the challenge.

I know it can be difficult with a client such as myself not wishing to reveal their identity. Anonymity is my mask and my shield--if people don't know who I am, then they can't come after me or people I might care about. With that being said, I'm willing to allow your people access to the Data Breach to do the retrofit and I'll modify their work as needed once it is finished. I expect the ship to be under dry dock for several months while this task is underway so I will depart the area in another vessel while the ship is undergoing it's retrofit.

As for the price, name it. As long as you're not going to charge me billions of credits or anything, should be able to meet whatever price you set. Just don't take me for a ride and expect me not to know it. I'll know when prices are gouged and I'll walk away if I think I'm being ripped off.

I'll await your response in due time. I'm currently out in the Omicrons standing by for a location from you to head towards. This ol' girl has a Jump Drive equipped, so reaching the location you give me shouldn't be difficult provided I have coordinates to jump to.

P.S. - Oh, and by the way just so that you're aware. Air gapping a device such as your "Dark Skies" server won't prevent an enterprising hacker from gaining access. There are many ways around that countermeasure. I would caution your engineers with thinking that just because it's air gapped that it's safe. That's not a threat of a hack either, it's a cautionary tale. Consider that advice free of charge from an "enterprising" hacker such as myself.

You don't have to worry about your late reply, It is fine and we understand that going through those major changes might probably delay you a bit. It is such a tragedy to know that the superstructure of your older vessel will not match your experiments and designs. We received your new blueprint and a briefcase full of information about its superstructure and power core. Hi NSE guys!

I have dropped the ship off at the Freeport in Omicron Delta and have departed the area. I've paid the Zoners there to ensure it's well taken care of until your team arrives to fetch the ship. I've instructed them to allow your team to take the ship into your care when you arrive. Half of the agreed upon funds have been transferred and I will await the finished product before delivering the second-half. We will not be purchasing the "Spyglass Scanner" at this time as we have another option available to us for the vessel at a later date for much the same price. The complexities of the Spyglass Scanner are far more intricate than I am willing to work with. The other scanner that we have in mind for the ship is far more common and easier to modify without risking damaging the entire array. I thank you for the offer, however.

The normal light speech suddenly changes. The tone, despite being digitally scrambled, has a coldness to it that you can't shake.

Additionally, I can assure you that my designs are well within spec and will not cause any damage to your station. Frankly I'm a little insulted at the thought something of that nature might happen. Hi there NSE guys! It's been a while huh? Okay so look, here's the deal. I've been through some shit since we last talked and I picked up the ship. I've been through the ringer, added a few new gadgets to the ship, and now I'm in need of something that, as much as I hate admitting, I lack the requisite skill to properly build myself. Hyperspace windows are some of the most complicated math that I've had the displeasure of dealing with...so why not give it to you eggheads to figure out while I deal with the engineering and complicated network configurations that are required for installing? Sounds like a win-win to me! We're looking for a matrix. Specifically a MKI for the CROATOAN. Considering you types are the ones that did the major modifications initially, and you've been trustworthy (so far), I'm picking one up from you. I had someone take a look at your stocks and noticed you don't have one available. What do you need from us to get this done? The way I see it is, I can use my resources to bring the materials to your station in Cambridge to build the Matrix. Then I can send someone to collect and bring to us. The other way is I pay you to build the item and deliver to me. You've been trustworthy so far, so don't let us down now. Depending on what your answer is, I may have additional work for you in the future concerning deliveries of sensitive materials to a location deep in the Tau systems.
