Yes, this is very annoying. There is no Logical reason for Friendly Crosshair except for conn training.
With thanks to new Cap. Missile rework, Fu****up missile countering mechanics and low CM ammo, Discovery Freelancer is already turned into Missilecovery Missilelancer. Everyone is mounting Missiles for easy kills, which leads to cancerous fleet battles. There are already too many crosshairs and friendly crosshairs adding more misery to player targeting.
i would agree with this also, the amount of times you are not attacking a red enemy is quite rare in pvp and it frequently gets me on edge at times when i see random reticles show up thinking that another enemy is coming into range when its just another friendly ship. The only point i see to this mechanic is the very rare moments a freelancer is coming after you in a fleet battle or something like that. otherwise its a very rare occurrence.
They could add the option to maybe make it a "toggle" feature (if possible), so you can toggle between redicals and pick an active one for everything and the other just for hostiles.
Keep neutrals, remove green, imo. Neutral prevents the funny "haha I have no IFF have fun targeting me capital ship" exploit that is rather irritating, but I've never had a green on green outside conn personally.
[03.07.2024] LNS-Beast***: we can do this every day but you have to buy bigger stronger ships...and i'll help you
after several battles and friendly fire incidents, I speak with confidence that the neutral and friendly indicators are more of a nuisance than an actual helpful addition. Neutral+Hostile lead indicators would be a middle ground, but I heard it isn't possible because of an engine limitation. I'd rather go back to 'hostile only' indicators.

I'm sorry how do you expect any Freelancer IFF to work at all then.
