The Navy infront of Zone 21
Not very often do I fly alongside our own pilots. Even rare again when they have to disappear for unknown reasons whilst in the middle of a chat. Bumped into this Navy guy in front of a minefield behind Norfolk. Had a chat about what their doing, about the Copernicus system, and tried to sell them my mapping data of the system. They mentioned that one of their own had suffered damage but obtained the same stuff we did about the system. Why do we even do this then?
During our chat they mentioned something - Alaska. I have no idea what this is. An LSF pilot came past saying the same thing. Apparently this Navy guy has to ask someone else to get details. Whatever. The laws say I can't fly in that place behind Norfolk and it's clear that Navy guy was guarding something. Another time, I guess.
[18.11.2023 11:12:01] '\S/'Liesma: Mr.Moose: Greetings!
[18.11.2023 11:12:05] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Great... Navy.
[18.11.2023 11:12:12] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Hello there.
[18.11.2023 11:12:25] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: "Hello there." From the Navy.
[18.11.2023 11:12:51] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: I mean I can be rude if you like.
[18.11.2023 11:12:56] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: That's an option.
[18.11.2023 11:13:18] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: No no, this option is fine, just unexpected
[18.11.2023 11:13:21] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I'd prefer that. Match my energy. What are you doing over there?
[18.11.2023 11:13:37] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Rude to chat when you're pretty far out.
[18.11.2023 11:13:40] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: We've had increased reports of people flying past the defense zone.
[18.11.2023 11:13:54] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: We're stationing here to keep an eye on it.
[18.11.2023 11:14:11] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Uh... huh. Mind if we come over then?
[18.11.2023 11:14:24] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Not at all, as long as you don't enter the defense zone.
[18.11.2023 11:14:50] Preparing to cloak...
[18.11.2023 11:14:53] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: The mines always bothered me
[18.11.2023 11:14:59] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Let me just turn this thing on...
[18.11.2023 11:15:01] Cloaking device on
[18.11.2023 11:15:16] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: And they are quite more bothersome close up
[18.11.2023 11:15:30] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: So what? I can't fly through here?
[18.11.2023 11:15:37] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Yes.
[18.11.2023 11:15:39] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: I guess they are doing their jobe well
[18.11.2023 11:16:09] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: What brings you two out here?
[18.11.2023 11:16:16] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Lame.
[18.11.2023 11:16:24] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I dunno, exploring.
[18.11.2023 11:16:34] Cloaking device off
[18.11.2023 11:16:47] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: In New York? No offense but I think things here are fairly explored.
[18.11.2023 11:17:05] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well, not this place.
[18.11.2023 11:17:19] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: If others are coming through, surely something is back here.
[18.11.2023 11:17:21] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: Sometimes we like to update some places that are supposedly old and well known
[18.11.2023 11:17:49] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Ah, well, keeping charts up to date is important work. As far as exploring things inside, I wouldn't recommend it.
[18.11.2023 11:18:12] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Would not recommend it....
[18.11.2023 11:18:21] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well, where else would you not recommend?
[18.11.2023 11:18:28] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: We have worked with less than recomendations
[18.11.2023 11:18:35] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Well, the Badlands aren't great.
[18.11.2023 11:19:06] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: If you can get a ship tough enough, that system through the unstable hole in Galileo is very interesting.
[18.11.2023 11:19:11] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: Strangely the name is actually a dead giveaway
[18.11.2023 11:19:30] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Galileo? Hell, you want to know what's in that hole, pay us and I'll give you my report.
[18.11.2023 11:19:45] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: For the badlands. And the Copernicus.
[18.11.2023 11:20:02] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: No need.
[18.11.2023 11:20:04] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: Some have seen it inside out. And we called it Copernicus
[18.11.2023 11:20:06] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: I've been.
[18.11.2023 11:20:28] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: You've been inside that hole in Galileo?
[18.11.2023 11:20:35] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: What did a LN siege cruiser did in Copernicus?
[18.11.2023 11:20:37] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Yeah, not on this ship though of course.
[18.11.2023 11:20:54] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: Fair enough
[18.11.2023 11:21:10] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Right... I'm sure they took the wrong jump hole and almost got their ship cooked in the cloud.
[18.11.2023 11:21:12] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: A ship this large can cause a feedback loop when transitioning through a hole that isn't stable.
[18.11.2023 11:21:30] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Oh me and the other pilot with me flew around a bit.
[18.11.2023 11:21:38] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: What the hell is a feedback loop? Speak English.
[18.11.2023 11:21:46] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: ran into another explorer actually, they warned us off of the radiation.
[18.11.2023 11:21:53] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Ok so.
[18.11.2023 11:21:58] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Engine make ship go.
[18.11.2023 11:22:16] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Yes...
[18.11.2023 11:22:29] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: When big engine goes, it puts out large amounts of power.
[18.11.2023 11:22:41] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Lots of power is bad for jump holes that are unstable.
[18.11.2023 11:22:55] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Makes the energy expended by the jump go back into the ship.
[18.11.2023 11:23:03] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Then, big kaboom.
[18.11.2023 11:23:16] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I understand the big kaboom part. Not the other stuff though.
[18.11.2023 11:23:21] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: Maybe use less power?
[18.11.2023 11:23:41] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Can't jump without a certain amount of power output.
[18.11.2023 11:23:47] Tip: Did you end up lost? Can't find your way back? Use the Interactive NavMap on our forums.
[18.11.2023 11:24:46] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: But yeah, Copernicus. Really dangerous system. Also extremly pretty.
[18.11.2023 11:25:03] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: This guy probably hasn't seen the stuff within the Darklands.
[18.11.2023 11:25:20] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: What, that big nebula with the planet inside of it?
[18.11.2023 11:25:44] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Yep.
[18.11.2023 11:26:21] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Very interesint ghow dense it is.
[18.11.2023 11:26:28] [OOC] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: wow that was some fat fingers
[18.11.2023 11:26:43] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Is all you found the planet?
[18.11.2023 11:26:44] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Very interesting how dense that nebula is.
[18.11.2023 11:26:54] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: not as dense as mr. Halpert here
[18.11.2023 11:26:59] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Oh, some weird jump holes that took me around the system.
[18.11.2023 11:27:12] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Hm... Let's see what else.
[18.11.2023 11:27:12] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: *laughs* This is why people should contract us. They miss the obvious stuff.
[18.11.2023 11:27:57] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Oh, right.
[18.11.2023 11:28:15] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Some old signal beacon, led to a wrecked ship.
[18.11.2023 11:28:40] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Oh, the Golden Girl and their lover? Yeah we found that too.
[18.11.2023 11:28:42] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: Remember the call sigh?
[18.11.2023 11:29:01] 1st|LNS-Mount.Massive: CO: Come here Rogues!
[18.11.2023 11:29:17] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well... Mosse found them. Took my thunder.
[18.11.2023 11:29:26] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Man I hope I don't have to deal with that Rogue...
[18.11.2023 11:29:30] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Anyway.
[18.11.2023 11:29:39] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Did you guys find the Raleigh out there too?"
[18.11.2023 11:29:59] 1st|LNS-Mount.Massive: CO: Well, we are holding position at Bush if you people want to stop hiding
[18.11.2023 11:30:11] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I left my mark. Good luck and all that, yeah.
[18.11.2023 11:30:38] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Yeah, we did the same.
[18.11.2023 11:30:55] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Left a case of Cardamine.
[18.11.2023 11:31:11] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: No paint handy, so we used a little probe drone to etch into the metal just slightly.
[18.11.2023 11:31:41] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well, I didn't go THAT far, like everyone else.
[18.11.2023 11:32:10] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: Sorry guys, I have some quick need to return inside. Catch You all later
[18.11.2023 11:32:19] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Safe journeys.
[18.11.2023 11:32:22] '\S/'Liesma: Mr.Moose: Safe travels!
[18.11.2023 11:32:26] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: You little, I have to chat with this guy by myself? Goddamn...
[18.11.2023 11:32:43] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: *A deep chuckle comes across the comm*
[18.11.2023 11:32:49] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: I hope I'm not that bad.
[18.11.2023 11:32:49] '\S/'Liesma: Moose: You're dense enough, keep it simple
[18.11.2023 11:33:07] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Keep your engind warm otherwise I'm coming after you.
[18.11.2023 11:33:21] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Oh well they cut their comms. Nice.
[18.11.2023 11:33:41] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well, sounds like you missed a couple things in there.
[18.11.2023 11:33:55] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: I'm sure we did, but we'll send another survey out eventually.
[18.11.2023 11:34:09] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Oh and the Sigma-13 jump hole obviously.
[18.11.2023 11:34:33] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Sigma Thirt- Jesus, do you guys not look around properly?
[18.11.2023 11:34:53] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Look just spell it out and I can say if we found it.
[18.11.2023 11:35:04] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Purple.
[18.11.2023 11:35:14] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: That's all you're getting. Yes or no?
[18.11.2023 11:35:14] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Oh. That thing.
[18.11.2023 11:35:40] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: The ship with me was fairly damaged at that point. We stayed at a distance, wasn't sure if there'd be a big cloud of rad
[18.11.2023 11:35:45] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: -iation.
[18.11.2023 11:36:12] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Alright, if you did, what was beside it?
[18.11.2023 11:36:23] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: What that old wreck?
[18.11.2023 11:36:36] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Fuck.
[18.11.2023 11:36:46] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Why do we even do this when the Navy can do it?
[18.11.2023 11:36:58] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Normally we wouldn't.
[18.11.2023 11:37:18] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: But a jump hole to who knows where really close to the Colorado gate?
[18.11.2023 11:37:25] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: We have to at least look at that.
[18.11.2023 11:37:55] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: How about this. Send a message to me over the neural whatever, and I'll send you my report of the system.
[18.11.2023 11:38:14] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: That way if you did miss something, at least you know what it is.
[18.11.2023 11:38:19] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: That seems fine, but I can't guarantee that I can offer an exchange.
[18.11.2023 11:38:42] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Technically the data I have from my own trip is classified.
[18.11.2023 11:38:46] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: You better, after flying through that field in the northeern regions.
[18.11.2023 11:39:06] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Oh, the gas pocket?
[18.11.2023 11:39:13] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Yeah that was rough.
[18.11.2023 11:39:16] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Yeah, those hurt.
[18.11.2023 11:39:35] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: I was in a Grizzly, so it wasn't too bad on my end, but the fighter with me took a couple of nasty blows.
[18.11.2023 11:40:00] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well what do you know, LSF. Welcome to the party, pal.
[18.11.2023 11:40:07] James.Hamil: Good day there
[18.11.2023 11:40:32] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Heading in?
[18.11.2023 11:40:34] James.Hamil: Any problems to report Captain?
[18.11.2023 11:40:42] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Nope, nothing worth noting.
[18.11.2023 11:40:55] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: They say we can't fly through here.
[18.11.2023 11:40:56] James.Hamil: Well we are Liberty Security Forces. So we have interests in Alaska.
[18.11.2023 11:41:10] James.Hamil: I hope this does not trouble yourself Liberty Navy.
[18.11.2023 11:41:13] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Who or what is Alaska?
[18.11.2023 11:41:49] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Look the most I can say is that it's classified.
[18.11.2023 11:42:04] James.Hamil: What is a civilian doing in Zone-21 anyway? This is mostly concerning to us.
[18.11.2023 11:42:11] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: He's not in it.
[18.11.2023 11:42:21] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: He's *very* politley chatting.
[18.11.2023 11:42:31] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: While staying out.
[18.11.2023 11:42:44] James.Hamil: Very well.
[18.11.2023 11:42:54] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Ah, using the nice words?
[18.11.2023 11:43:09] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well to be honest, I'm very interested in what's behind you.
[18.11.2023 11:43:17] James.Hamil: We shall be on the move, aslong as there are no issues here.
[18.11.2023 11:43:23] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: But I guess today isn't the day.
[18.11.2023 11:43:35] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: You're clear to proceed, Hamil.
[18.11.2023 11:43:41] James.Hamil: I am pleased.
[18.11.2023 11:44:36] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Fancy.
[18.11.2023 11:44:41] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Look, I can't say much, cause I don't know what I can say.
[18.11.2023 11:45:03] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: I could ask, and maybe offer *some* info about Alaska, if command approves it.
[18.11.2023 11:45:16] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: But that would best be handled over the net.
[18.11.2023 11:45:28] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: There it is again, Alaska.
[18.11.2023 11:45:39] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Uh huh.
[18.11.2023 11:45:56] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I don't much care about the name. You do whatever you want to about that.
[18.11.2023 11:46:14] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Look you said you don't like minefields, right?
[18.11.2023 11:46:36] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I didn't say anything about Minefields. That was my OTHER dense Starflier, Moose.
[18.11.2023 11:46:54] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Sorry, hard to keep track. Suffice to say he would hate Alaska.
[18.11.2023 11:47:46] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well whatever. The laws state I can't pass anyways.
[18.11.2023 11:47:52] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Lame.
[18.11.2023 11:48:13] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: Sorry pal, you seem like a decent sort.
[18.11.2023 11:48:59] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Oh you have no idea. I'm in a good mood today. That's rare.
[18.11.2023 11:49:36] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: You message whoever about this Alaska. I'll park on Baltimore.
[18.11.2023 11:49:51] [LN]-LNS-Vincennes: Boehm: I will, can't guarantee anything though.
[18.11.2023 11:50:02] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Yeah, yeah, that's what they all say.
[18.11.2023 11:50:14] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: "Can't guarantee" this or that.
[18.11.2023 11:50:48] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well, off to Baltimore. You keep doing your guard duty.

Ikarus Station
It's been quite some time since Sailas from Starlight has reached out to us. Last we saw of them was when they were expending their station in Tau-23. Making my way over in the Velorum, we noticed the station had the same shine and pristine look as last we saw it, except now it's been a handful of years.
Albert's research ship was barred from gaining docking access, however the Velorum's request was granted immediately. It seems Sailas or Starlight as a whole kept that access code open. Should thank them next I see them. The station's halls were mostly vacany, save for the quarters. The place was cleared out... I wonder what happened.
In any case, we have taken up administration of Ikarus Station until their return. With a few adjustments, we hope to bring in some traders to keep this place float. Though when it comes to the station's core programming, nothing can be done about the Zoner ID codes that have been permanently sealed into it. A problem for another time.
Ikarus Station is ours, and we hope that it can be an extension to our locked down station in Inverness.

Repairing De Marco's Jump Drive
Been a few years since we assembled our first Jump Drive. I still have fond memories of instructing our teams in Kepler to build the device. De Marco was quite thankful that they had received a one of a kind Jump Drive, however we received some very well earned technical experience.
Right now, however, it seems our drive wasn't immune to The Pulse. It had caused the drive within the Amalfi to not operate normally. We met De Marco within the outskirts of the Baffin System to perform an in-space repair. My protoge, Suarez, was very eager to do a space walk repair job. While having our conversation over short range waves, Suarez was busy repairing the drive's Quantum Stabilizers, leakages and receiving instructions on how to work with the Amalfi's 22-15C power distributor. Knowledge I will now need to obtain from Suarez. The drive was repaired, as best we can do whilst in space with limited resources, though De Marco has advised that they intend on putting the drive through a series of tests lasting 500 hours. I approved this, advising 700 to be on the safe side. It made me happy seeing the one of a kind Starfliers Rift-Jump Drive again.
[25.11.2023 11:09:25] Amalfi: CO: Buongiorno, Starfliers.
[25.11.2023 11:09:53] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: It's been quite some time since I have seen the Amalfi. Greetings, De Marco.
[25.11.2023 11:10:10] Amalfi: CO: At least this piece of technology is still operational since the Pulse happened.
[25.11.2023 11:10:54] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Yes, the Pulse... we recorded this event too.
[25.11.2023 11:11:16] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Good to see you have kept the drive working for this long.
[25.11.2023 11:11:32] Amalfi: CO: I see that your vessels are still not using any weapons.
[25.11.2023 11:12:09] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: That's correct. Leon finally pushed an official memo to effectively ban them.
[25.11.2023 11:12:16] Amalfi: CO: Your Rift Drive served me well after it has been properly connected to my quantum computers onboard.
[25.11.2023 11:13:12] Amalfi: CO: However, as you have seen in my message, it has lost its calibration since the Pulse.
[25.11.2023 11:13:32] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: I have the reports open, so I can instruct my teams appropriately.
[25.11.2023 11:13:51] Amalfi: CO: Lowering our shields now.
[25.11.2023 11:14:14] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Suarez, get your team suited up.
[25.11.2023 11:14:48] Amalfi: CO: The engine is in the aft section of my vessel while the navigation vanes at the front.
[25.11.2023 11:15:08] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Quantum Fields were destabilized. Affecting multiple subsystems it seems.
[25.11.2023 11:15:40] Amalfi: CO: Depressurizing affected compartments now.
[25.11.2023 11:15:52] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Suarez, enter from the front of the Amalfi.
[25.11.2023 11:15:57] Amalfi: CO: You are correct.
[25.11.2023 11:15:59] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Understood.
[25.11.2023 11:16:22] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Space isn't as cold as you said it would be.
[25.11.2023 11:16:32] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Back on task, Suarez.
[25.11.2023 11:16:42] Amalfi: CO: It has been a rather troublesome issue.
[25.11.2023 11:17:12] Amalfi: CO: Oh, they should better suit up - we are in a cold water vapor cloud.
[25.11.2023 11:17:48] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: My suit is fine, though it's nice and toasty within the Amalfi.
[25.11.2023 11:18:03] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Suarez, please. The task.
[25.11.2023 11:18:30] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I see three bulkheads within the compartment. Which one houses the drive?
[25.11.2023 11:19:06] Amalfi: CO: The middle one - others are for ballast tanks.
[25.11.2023 11:19:28] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Understood. Mind opening the middle one up for me?
[25.11.2023 11:19:50] Amalfi: CO: Unlocking it from my command console - now.
[25.11.2023 11:20:13] Changing screen mode=full
[25.11.2023 11:20:30] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I see it. Well, part of it.
[25.11.2023 11:20:43] Amalfi: CO: Please, keep in mind that there are remote controlled industrial automatons. Some people get - scared of them in the dark.
[25.11.2023 11:21:15] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: So that's why there's no lights... Wait, what was that?
[25.11.2023 11:21:50] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Oh god, that's one... one of those robots. Please control them to be quieter.
[25.11.2023 11:22:11] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Hate hearing things I can't see.
[25.11.2023 11:22:21] Amalfi: CO: Optronics prefer to be left in the dark, so they do not wear out as fast.
[25.11.2023 11:22:38] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: You should know this by now, Suarez.
[25.11.2023 11:22:49] Tip: Did you end up lost? Can't find your way back? Use the Interactive NavMap on our forums.
[25.11.2023 11:22:58] Amalfi: CO: I am afraird that they have not been created with quietness in mind.
[25.11.2023 11:23:09] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Wonderful.
[25.11.2023 11:23:33] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Alright, removed an access panel from what I can see in this tiny room.
[25.11.2023 11:23:48] Amalfi: CO: You can write your complaints to Kishiro.
[25.11.2023 11:23:49] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: What do you see?
[25.11.2023 11:24:38] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I see... a leakage. Two of the seven stabilizers are cracked.
[25.11.2023 11:25:14] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Time I make some noise of my own. Let me get my gear out from my bag here.
[25.11.2023 11:25:38] Amalfi: CO: They will not complain.
[25.11.2023 11:25:53] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Yeah, I guess they won't.
[25.11.2023 11:26:30] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: While Suarez gets to work, have you any information about this Pulse?
[25.11.2023 11:27:07] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Within Inverness we had only caught a small degree of information.
[25.11.2023 11:27:09] Amalfi: CO: I believe there was more of them than one - the first one happened with Dublin lost its only gate.
[25.11.2023 11:27:52] Amalfi: CO: Yet I have noticed yet another one when I was witnessing an activation of the Kishiro-made jumpdrive in Kusari.
[25.11.2023 11:28:05] Amalfi: CO: I was posing as a scientist.
[25.11.2023 11:29:10] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Kishiro's name is all over our hardware too.
[25.11.2023 11:29:23] Amalfi: CO: The first Pulse have knocked out my Rift Drive altogether - even the fuses blown out.
[25.11.2023 11:29:41] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Fuses too? Goddamn...
[25.11.2023 11:30:03] Amalfi: CO: It appears that the Pulse have developed some kind of positive feedback loop in the drive itself.
[25.11.2023 11:31:03] Amalfi: CO: Perhaps a better shielding could be installed around those stabilisers.
[25.11.2023 11:31:41] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I was only able to carry some spare parts. Shielding isn't on the list.
[25.11.2023 11:32:00] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: I created a specific list. Why did you not prepare?
[25.11.2023 11:32:16] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Just... let me work here.
[25.11.2023 11:32:52] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: One cracked stabilizer has been replaced. Onto number two.
[25.11.2023 11:33:11] Amalfi: CO: Power distributor 22-15C has several free high wattage receptables should you choose to install an active shielding.
[25.11.2023 11:33:54] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Hear that Albert? They have a 22-15C.
[25.11.2023 11:34:20] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: I heard De Marco. We do not have this on board the Velorum.
[25.11.2023 11:35:05] Amalfi: CO: I treat my personal ship well - only the most proven and up-to-date technology available for us.
[25.11.2023 11:35:11] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Differences between civilian and Maltese ships, perhaps.
[25.11.2023 11:36:05] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Ah fu- The robot stepped on my foot! Watch where you're going!
[25.11.2023 11:36:34] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Can't see anything here. I almost got the second one done.
[25.11.2023 11:37:30] Amalfi: CO: It is part in our culture, Signor McKenzie. We keep on tinkering with our vessels.
[25.11.2023 11:38:04] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Not much has changed with the Velorum, aside from a signature change.
[25.11.2023 11:38:41] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Our interiors are messy and somewhat disorganized. I dislike this.
[25.11.2023 11:38:56] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Though our teams are dedicated. Suarez included.
[25.11.2023 11:39:03] Amalfi: CO: It is mainly since our physiology allows us to perceive matters as imbalances and subtle vibrations without instruments.
[25.11.2023 11:39:33] Amalfi: CO: Ships that are not well maintained could be an irritating experience for us.
[25.11.2023 11:39:50] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Best you don't board the Velorum then.
[25.11.2023 11:40:26] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: With that, the second stabilizer is replaced. Now onto the leakage...
[25.11.2023 11:40:46] Amalfi: CO: I am quite accustomed to Sirius already.
[25.11.2023 11:41:10] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: All I have for the leakage is to dry it up with a welder.
[25.11.2023 11:41:43] Amalfi: CO: Let it evaporate with hard vaccuum.
[25.11.2023 11:42:01] Amalfi: CO: And then you can weld it.
[25.11.2023 11:42:14] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Uh... huh. Yep, that makes more sense.
[25.11.2023 11:42:44] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: While I wait this out, how do you guys even know eachother?
[25.11.2023 11:43:36] Amalfi: CO: We have met with your leader, Leon Vicci, in Tau-37. We were on patrol and we have noticed their lack of weaponry.
[25.11.2023 11:44:19] Amalfi: CO: That already allowed us to differentiate them from the more boring and ordinary freelancers in Sirius.
[25.11.2023 11:45:19] Amalfi: CO: And we share common - how to put it - 'interests' would be the best word for it.
[25.11.2023 11:45:48] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: That's enough for me. You met, didn't shoot us and like us enough for me to be inside the Amalfi.
[25.11.2023 11:45:57] Amalfi: CO: Despite my origins, I am also a woman of science.
[25.11.2023 11:46:08] Changing screen mode=windowed
[25.11.2023 11:47:03] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Leakage is more or less evapourated.
[25.11.2023 11:47:17] Amalfi: CO: You will learn that I rarely shoot on sight - it is not my purpose. My goals are far more complex and nuanced than -
[25.11.2023 11:47:24] Amalfi: CO: - simple thuggery.
[25.11.2023 11:47:42] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I'm gonna weld an extra brace in between the Quantum Stabilizers.
[25.11.2023 11:48:14] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Though the shielding, that'll be something you have to grab. We simply don't have a spare.
[25.11.2023 11:48:45] Amalfi: CO: Just do not weld it to the floor, per favore. We need to be able to remove the whole module for in-depth maintenance.
[25.11.2023 11:48:46] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: We do have a spare, it's in contai-
[25.11.2023 11:48:56] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: We do not. I checked.
[25.11.2023 11:49:41] Amalfi: CO: What exactly do you need for it, if I may ask?
[25.11.2023 11:49:47] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Brace is in place, the access panel has been put back in. Left the 22-15C as it is to make it easy.
[25.11.2023 11:50:48] Amalfi: CO: Perhaps we might have a similar-enough part among our spares.
[25.11.2023 11:51:08] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: The brace will make sure the Quantum Stabilizers don't flex over their limit. That's how two cracked.
[25.11.2023 11:51:37] Amalfi: CO: I understand - yet, what do you need for the shielding?
[25.11.2023 11:51:59] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: The shielding... the shielding...
[25.11.2023 11:52:48] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: An adjusted portable generator. Made of a few batteries and magnets.
[25.11.2023 11:53:41] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Connect that to your fancy 22-15C, and it'll keep our dri- your drive suspended like a sleeping baby.
[25.11.2023 11:54:22] Amalfi: CO: Mh - perhaps a few spare parts for scanner could be employed for a similar task.
[25.11.2023 11:54:43] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: He's describing that the generated magnetic field will decrease operational failures.
[25.11.2023 11:55:22] Amalfi: CO: Mhm, we need to shield out any interferences from the outside.
[25.11.2023 11:55:59] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Emptied my bag, I got neither here.
[25.11.2023 11:56:25] Amalfi: CO: There are similar parts for our scanner, so its power will not fry any neighboring electronics.
[25.11.2023 11:56:46] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Well there ya go. Guess I'll repack my bag and get out of your hair.
[25.11.2023 11:57:05] Amalfi: CO: I have instructed my robots to bring it to you - however, you will need to adjust its wirings.
[25.11.2023 11:57:41] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I don't see your robots. Tell them to step into the light please.
[25.11.2023 11:57:55] Amalfi: CO: I believe it would be too strong for the Rift Drive as it is now.
[25.11.2023 11:58:25] Amalfi: CO: They are now retrieving it from the storage. You will have to be patient.
[25.11.2023 11:59:09] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Once this job is completed, what will you do next?
[25.11.2023 11:59:56] Amalfi: CO: I will have to let it run for 500 hours and they check it for any loose connections or defects.
[25.11.2023 12:00:25] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: 500, a good starting point.
[25.11.2023 12:00:42] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: THATS a starting point?
[25.11.2023 12:00:43] Amalfi: CO: A rule of thumb for any engineer, correct.
[25.11.2023 12:01:22] Amalfi: CO: As for my destination - we have been on our route to Liberty yet again.
[25.11.2023 12:01:57] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Must mean there's something of interest around that region. Anything for us?
[25.11.2023 12:02:12] Amalfi: CO: Signor Suarez, robots will be near your location any moment.
[25.11.2023 12:02:27] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I can hear them, just can't see them yet.
[25.11.2023 12:02:48] Amalfi: CO: Signor McKenzie - Liberty is always an interesting place to explore.
[25.11.2023 12:03:17] Amalfi: CO: However, I have my business interests there. I need to oversee them from time to time.
[25.11.2023 12:03:23] Amalfi: CO: I am sure you know well what I mean.
[25.11.2023 12:03:52] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: I believe I do.
[25.11.2023 12:04:18] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: The robots stacked all the materials in alphabetical order infront of me.
[25.11.2023 12:04:46] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Why alphabetical? Why not by serial?
[25.11.2023 12:04:48] Amalfi: CO: Oh, Kishiro programming. I would not allow any other robots on my own personal ship.
[25.11.2023 12:05:12] Amalfi: CO: They are quite expensive, however.
[25.11.2023 12:05:35] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Yeah, yeah, I'll be careful. Gimme a couple here, this'll be easy to assemble.
[25.11.2023 12:06:33] Amalfi: CO: I like to study House cultures - that is yet another thing I find interesting about Liberty.
[25.11.2023 12:07:04] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: I must miss a lot when I travel through there. My eyes are usually kept on a screen.
[25.11.2023 12:07:13] Amalfi: CO: It is full of stark contrasts.
[25.11.2023 12:07:41] Amalfi: CO: I am not afraid to explore their worlds on my own - with a proper disguise, of course.
[25.11.2023 12:08:04] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: How do you disguise THIS ship?
[25.11.2023 12:08:26] Amalfi: CO: I do not disguise this vessel - I disguise myself.
[25.11.2023 12:08:37] Amalfi: CO: I do have a civilian vessel docked in here.
[25.11.2023 12:08:38] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Ah, that's what I get for half listening.
[25.11.2023 12:09:57] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Okay, portable generator is built. Now to mount it next to the access panel and connect it to the 22-15C.
[25.11.2023 12:10:17] Amalfi: CO: My culture is so different from those in Houses. My plan is to visit all habitable planets with communities in Sirius.
[25.11.2023 12:10:48] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: There sure is a few of those. May take a while.
[25.11.2023 12:11:00] Amalfi: CO: You will have to remove the panneling. Steel struts for mounting are under it.
[25.11.2023 12:11:28] '\S/'Velorum: *BANG*
[25.11.2023 12:11:50] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Whoa those magnets are strong. Successfuly mounted to the struts.
[25.11.2023 12:12:25] Amalfi: CO: Oh, I hope it will take some while. We Outcasts enjoy quite long lives and they can be a rather boring at times.
[25.11.2023 12:12:46] Amalfi: CO: Good work - I do not see any power grid warning from my console.
[25.11.2023 12:13:05] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I got no experience with a 22-15C. I'll leave this final part to you and your 'bots.
[25.11.2023 12:13:18] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Haven't touched the power yet.
[25.11.2023 12:13:24] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I got no experience with a 22-15C. I'll leave this final part to you and your 'bots.
[25.11.2023 12:13:58] Amalfi: CO: It is the same as any power distributor. Just connect the wires to the right sockets.
[25.11.2023 12:14:18] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: If you say so...
[25.11.2023 12:14:31] Amalfi: CO: I hope you used correct cable colors, did you not?
[25.11.2023 12:14:55] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Makes it easy when the cables are keyed.
[25.11.2023 12:15:03] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Idiot proof.
[25.11.2023 12:15:38] '\S/'Velorum: *Two loud clicks are heard, with a loud whirring sound*
[25.11.2023 12:15:48] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Alright, how's that?
[25.11.2023 12:16:00] Amalfi: CO: I have seen a ship on Houston which had all wires in the same color.
[25.11.2023 12:16:42] Amalfi: CO: I see imbalance between the phases - do they share the same load?
[25.11.2023 12:17:27] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Try zero'ing out the phases. That'll bring it to normal.
[25.11.2023 12:17:53] Amalfi: CO: Can you send me the image of the wiring, per favore?
[25.11.2023 12:18:51] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: I can send a visual, one sec.
[25.11.2023 12:19:11] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Done.
[25.11.2023 12:19:55] Amalfi: CO: Oh - I see the issue. The sockets for the shielding are miscalibrated within the power distributor itself.
[25.11.2023 12:20:49] Amalfi: CO: You will need to shut it down manually and replace one of the balancing coils with only one stripe with the other with -
[25.11.2023 12:21:07] Amalfi: CO: - two stripes from the unused circuits.
[25.11.2023 12:21:36] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Makes it easy with clear instructions.
[25.11.2023 12:21:57] Amalfi: CO: From your point of view - the circuit on the bottom left is unused for now.
[25.11.2023 12:22:47] Amalfi: CO: Hm, neutrals are connected correctly as well. This should be the only issue.
[25.11.2023 12:23:19] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Powered down, replaced with a two-striped coil. Shall I flip the switch?
[25.11.2023 12:23:39] Rules Tip: Do not threaten a player with reports or sanctions. If you see someone breaking server rules - help them. If that does not work - report them to the administration team on the Forums.
[25.11.2023 12:23:54] Amalfi: CO: You can switch it off whenever you wish. Nothing critical in there.
[25.11.2023 12:24:27] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Ah, I mean to turn on the power distrubitor, see if the portable generator works.
[25.11.2023 12:24:38] Amalfi: CO: Only the ballast pumps with complain for a while, yet I do not need them now.
[25.11.2023 12:25:48] Amalfi: CO: Phase imbalances are under two percent, which is... acceptable for now.
[25.11.2023 12:26:06] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Good enough for me! Let's go home!
[25.11.2023 12:26:45] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: I'd advise a 700 hour stress test.
[25.11.2023 12:26:55] Amalfi: CO: I will want to tweak it under point zero zero five percent, yet that will take some time.
[25.11.2023 12:27:34] Amalfi: CO: Signor Suarez, you can leave whenever you wish. Your task appears to be completed.
[25.11.2023 12:27:44] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Close up the middle bulkhead. I'm out of there.
[25.11.2023 12:27:57] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: As scary as that was, I enjoyed the little space walk.
[25.11.2023 12:28:07] Amalfi: CO: Closed and sealed yet again.
[25.11.2023 12:28:12] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Mostly because of the blasted robots.
[25.11.2023 12:28:47] Amalfi: CO: I am keeping my crew safe within the citadel.
[25.11.2023 12:28:59] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: I believe a thank you is in order from us, De Marco.
[25.11.2023 12:29:24] Amalfi: CO: Grazie for your services, Starfliers.
[25.11.2023 12:29:29] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: It is a welcome sight to work on the drive. Thank you for letting us assist.
[25.11.2023 12:30:13] Amalfi: CO: I will let you know once it passes its stress tests.
[25.11.2023 12:30:14] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Only one of it's kind. Continue to treat it well.
[25.11.2023 12:30:46] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Please, I'd very much like to see the performance reports.
[25.11.2023 12:31:23] Amalfi: CO: Of course - you are its makers.
[25.11.2023 12:31:47] '\S/'Velorum: Albert: Godspeed, De Marco.
[25.11.2023 12:31:55] '\S/'Velorum: Suarez: Yeah, Godspeed.
[25.11.2023 12:32:00] Amalfi: CO: Arrivederci, Starfliers - until we meet again.

Bastion's interest in Ikarus Station
Prepared a small load of crew members from Inverness for transit towards Tau-23. They'll be performing administrative duties for Ikarus Station whilst the bulk of our teams work back home. We'd received a ping from a group called Bastion, a group similar to us in the sense of being primarily a research focused entity. They seemed very knowledgeable and had an interest in Ikarus Station, having it become an observatory of sorts for the nearby "Baxter"-Class anomalies that have been recorded by us previously.
In any case, I have enabled docking access for them after a lengthy conversation. It seemed Starfleet themselves were interested in us, was hoping to keep this ownership a secret, but now they know we've taken over SLRC's former home base.
[27.11.2023 00:52:03] HS>Bautista.Pliego.: Hola
[27.11.2023 00:52:45] Bastion|Orion: CM: Contacts.
[27.11.2023 00:52:56] Bastion|Orion: CM: Greetings HS, and ah...Starfliers.
[27.11.2023 00:53:23] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Hmm? Don't believe I've seen you before. My name is Leon.
[27.11.2023 00:53:39] Bastion|Orion: CM: Name is Cassius Mordecai. Pleasure to meet you.
[27.11.2023 00:54:18] Bastion|Orion: CM: I represent the Bastion Freelancer Corporation, better known as simply "Bastion".
[27.11.2023 00:54:36] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Bastion, okay. Well, Cassius, no need to stay distant.
[27.11.2023 00:54:54] Bastion|Orion: CM: Ah, yes, we're looking into these Baxters out here...
[27.11.2023 00:55:41] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Yes, our teams are also interested in these anomalies.
[27.11.2023 00:56:08] Bastion|Orion: CM: Yes, we are as well for various reasons.
[27.11.2023 00:56:27] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: We recently secured this station to study them further. Hope the original owners return.
[27.11.2023 00:56:49] Bastion|Orion: CM: Ah yes, the Starlight Research Consortium, yes?
[27.11.2023 00:57:02] Bastion|Orion: CM: I had read--er--/heard/ that they had departed.
[27.11.2023 00:57:30] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Departed? Haven't seen them in some years... unfortunate.
[27.11.2023 00:57:34] Bastion|Orion: CM: We had reputible information that you had taken over the facility and hoped to run into you and yours out here.
[27.11.2023 00:58:17] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: That would be right. I guess if they aren't interested in returning, the station now falls on us.
[27.11.2023 00:58:42] Bastion|Orion: CM: You see, Bastion operates chiefly as a research organization but we also perform escort and safeguarding duties for others.
[27.11.2023 00:59:05] HS>Gladius: This is Gladius 1-1. Identify yourselves.
[27.11.2023 00:59:22] Bastion|Orion: CM: We have heard of your.../unique/ approach to a lack of weaponry. And with our scientific talents merged with yours well...
[27.11.2023 00:59:33] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Starfliers vessel Velorum, Leon Vicci speaking.
[27.11.2023 01:00:12] HS>Gladius: Gladius to Freelancers. What is your purpose in this area.
[27.11.2023 01:00:40] Bastion|Orion: CM: Well, /we/ are researching anomalies and speaking to Leon here who owns Ikarus Station.
[27.11.2023 01:01:30] HS>Gladius: The Starfliers own Ikarus now?
[27.11.2023 01:01:42] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: We do.
[27.11.2023 01:02:14] Bastion|Orion: CM: SLRC has moved on and they took over operations. We arrived to meet with Starfliers.
[27.11.2023 01:02:51] HS>Gladius: Warmer neighbours, I guess.
[27.11.2023 01:03:20] HS>Gladius: I take it your place in Kepler isn't doing so hot anymore...
[27.11.2023 01:03:39] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: I don't exactly want to talk about Kepler.
[27.11.2023 01:03:54] Bastion|Orion: [Cassius remains quiet, listening intently to the mention of Kepler.]
[27.11.2023 01:03:57] HS>Gladius: Yeah, thats about as much as I figured.
[27.11.2023 01:04:37] HS>Gladius: I'm fine with it too. Nothing good ever came out of that system.
[27.11.2023 01:04:59] Bastion|Orion: CM: A shame that the scientists are stranded there. Hopefully they're getting plenty of data on Ames of the storm.
[27.11.2023 01:05:12] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: I hope they get out, same as us.
[27.11.2023 01:05:14] Bastion|Orion: CM: Much of that information could be a veritable gold mine of data.
[27.11.2023 01:05:34] HS>Gladius: Whatever happened to them, they got what they wished for.
[27.11.2023 01:05:56] HS>Gladius: From what I've picked up, the Xenos weren't so lucky. Hah hah...
[27.11.2023 01:06:22] HS>Gladius: Now all we need is that Ion storm to move down and take out Ouray.
[27.11.2023 01:06:49] HS>Gladius: ...And Manhattan while it's at it...
[27.11.2023 01:06:53] HS>Gladius: ...And... nevermind.
[27.11.2023 01:07:33] HS>Gladius: Say, I don't suppose /you/ would know how to create an ion storm to swallow up Crete, would you?
[27.11.2023 01:07:57] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: No, that's... horrible.
[27.11.2023 01:08:12] Bastion|Orion: CM: Weapons of that nature are...terrifying to behold.
[27.11.2023 01:08:14] HS>Gladius: [grins] Well, it was worth a try.
[27.11.2023 01:09:02] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Mind if we continue our chat here, Starfleet?
[27.11.2023 01:09:11] HS>Gladius: Hm?
[27.11.2023 01:09:32] HS>Gladius: Ah, yes.
[27.11.2023 01:09:51] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Feel free to let the Dons know that we've setup an administrative team here on Ikarus.
[27.11.2023 01:10:18] Bastion|Orion: CM: Anyway, as I was saying before the /mutant/ decided to intercede in our communications...
[27.11.2023 01:10:26] Bastion|Orion: [He clears his throat.]
[27.11.2023 01:10:54] Bastion|Orion: CM: My name is Cassius Mordecai, Chief of Bastion Freelancer Corporation, but most just call us Bastion.
[27.11.2023 01:11:25] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Bastion, Cassius, understood. You were saying your organisation are a band of reseachers also?
[27.11.2023 01:11:26] Bastion|Orion: CM: We recently setup shop down in Omicron Delta after...arriving there from a research project.
[27.11.2023 01:11:48] Bastion|Orion: CM: Indeed. We also operate escort services for those who are unable to protect themselves. Something we pride ourselves on.
[27.11.2023 01:12:13] Bastion|Orion: CM: Hearing of your group and your unique approach to a lack of weapons, we thought we might tender our services to aiding you.
[27.11.2023 01:12:21] Bastion|Orion: CM: Not to mention our understanding of technology and advancements.
[27.11.2023 01:12:57] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: We are very open to working with other research organisations. This does sound promising.
[27.11.2023 01:13:28] Bastion|Orion: CM: Indeed, we hoped you might. With the dangers lurking in Earhart and her satellite systems, you could do well with some...
[27.11.2023 01:13:31] Bastion|Orion: ...protection.
[27.11.2023 01:13:44] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Meeting here, I take it Ikarus would be a point of interest for Bastion?
[27.11.2023 01:13:55] Bastion|Orion: CM: Plus, more eyes on unique anomalies and technology couldn't hurt. [He laughs.]
[27.11.2023 01:14:31] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: We have done well so far without arms. Hiring some isn't impossible for us, though very unlikely.
[27.11.2023 01:15:15] Bastion|Orion: [He smiles a knowing smile.]
[27.11.2023 01:15:20] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Meeting here, I take it Ikarus would be a point of interest for Bastion?
[27.11.2023 01:15:31] Bastion|Orion: CM: Indeed. An observatory, if you will.
[27.11.2023 01:15:47] Bastion|Orion: CM: Tau-23 will...sorry, /is/ a point of interest.
[27.11.2023 01:16:13] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Being a close distance to the Baxter-Class field, I imagine so.
[27.11.2023 01:16:15] Bastion|Orion: [He jerks his thumb back to the anomaly behind him.] CM: Particularly /that/ thing.
[27.11.2023 01:16:54] Bastion|Orion: CM: Mmmhmm.
[27.11.2023 01:17:05] Bastion|Orion: CM: Only a matter of time before it opens it's maw and...well...
[27.11.2023 01:17:38] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Unsure whatever a "maw" is, though our research lead Albert may be interested in talking to you.
[27.11.2023 01:17:58] Bastion|Orion: CM: Maw, you know, mouth? Opens it's--nevermind.
[27.11.2023 01:18:23] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Heh. yeah.. it's, how do I put this.
[27.11.2023 01:18:29] Bastion|Orion: CM: Point being, yes. Ikarus Observa--er--Ikarus Station is something we would be interested in aiding with, if you are keen.
[27.11.2023 01:18:45] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: I make sure the jobs get done? But I don't exactly know how to do them myself. That's why I have Albert.
[27.11.2023 01:19:43] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Our small admin team on board can only do so much. Any help is appreciated.
[27.11.2023 01:19:56] Bastion|Orion: CM: Ah yes, Albert McKenzie...
[27.11.2023 01:20:08] Bastion|Orion: [He chuckles.]
[27.11.2023 01:20:32] Bastion|Orion: CM: We would be, of course, happy to assist. Additionally, our operation in Omicron Delta would be open to you. The Spire.
[27.11.2023 01:20:34] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: You seem to know a bit about us. I guess our public information has circled around a bit.
[27.11.2023 01:20:50] Bastion|Orion: CM: Yes, your public information.
[27.11.2023 01:21:07] Bastion|Orion: CM: Much information about you all on the nets. It's how we came to be interested in working together.
[27.11.2023 01:21:54] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Let me organise a meet then, on board Ikarus, with Albert.
[27.11.2023 01:22:07] Bastion|Orion: CM: We would be glad to make introductions.
[27.11.2023 01:22:27] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: He's in charge of this installation. If you have suggestions, bring it up with him.
[27.11.2023 01:23:07] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: I'll land and give you docking access, feel free to walk down the halls.
[27.11.2023 01:23:20] Bastion|Orion: CM: Of course. We will be careful not to step on any toes either.
[27.11.2023 01:23:30] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Just a notice that majority of the facilities are empty, seems SLRC had vacated a lot of the rooms.
[27.11.2023 01:24:06] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: I'll notify Albert to come around. He operates a Corvo-Class vessel too.
[27.11.2023 01:24:08] Bastion|Orion: [Cassius frowns.] CM: Indeed. We will advise if moving any equipment into those vacancies.
[27.11.2023 01:24:48] Bastion|Orion: CM: Copy that. A good ship with ample...technology.
[27.11.2023 01:25:08] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Heh, if we have our way... even better than that. Hopefully.
[27.11.2023 01:25:27] Bastion|Orion: CM: Oh, of that I am certain...and hopeful for even beyond.
[27.11.2023 01:25:51] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Well, Cassius. Nice meeting you. Godspeed on your ventures in Delta.
[27.11.2023 01:25:59] Bastion|Orion: CM: To you as well in 23. Hope to meet up soon.
[27.11.2023 01:26:11] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: We don't frequent the Edge Worlds as much, but we will stop by if we are around.
[27.11.2023 01:26:23] Bastion|Orion: CM: I look forward to showing you around.
[27.11.2023 01:26:26] Bastion|Orion: CM: Until then.
[27.11.2023 01:26:33] '\S/'Velorum: Leon: Godspeed.
The Sol was moored on our Research Complex for quite some time. This allowed us a great opportunity to study the internal space of the vessel and design a layout that would be the most efficient space for us to work within. Our "Bustard"-Class vessel, the Velorum, has never had it's internal structures changed to meet the more modern and involved times. With this new ship from Orbital, we can take our exploration and research operations to the next level.
Revenant asked us to bring the ship to the Citadel directly, despite my request to have it moored at Invergordon. Moving it into the drydock at the other end of Inverness, I can see why they had asked us to do so. Valravn has a smaller drydock, though the instruments and tools installed look way to sophisticated to describe. More specialized. I guess I should trust they know what they are doing. Bringing the ship into position, the docking clamp extended and depressurized.
Over the next few days, many opportunities had come up to speak with numerous Technocrats. They all had this fire in them, working hard to make sure that the "Enterprise"-Class ship they see before them didn't only look good, but operated exactly to the specifications I set. There's a strong feeling that the numbers I have set were easily broken, allowing the ship to surpass the standard operational guidelines.
Revenant also supervised the construction. Though the enigmatic person that they are, didn't share much. The only piece of information I was able to obtain was about this experimental Jump Drive they had mentioned previously. One that had a faster generation time, but only allowed one ship to pass through before the walls of the wormhole collapses. On the holographic display, they pulled up the equipment that was installed. I was very happy with the result, suppose they are too. It's like the Starfliers version of their own liner, TRV-Scylax.
Designation: '\S/'Sol, with digital paperwork matching all other Starfliers ships
Hyperspace Matrix which is linked into the Starfliers Hyperspace Network
Dual Hangar Bays for "Draugr"-Class Freighters equipped with mineral extraction hardware
Large Cloaking Device to conceal both the ship and it's contents from pirates
A downsized model of Kishiro Technologies' Rift-Leaping Jump Drive installed
Cargo bay designed to hold extracted minerals and ores, not suitable for standard commodities
During my time in the Champagne System picking up Molybdenum for ALG, beautiful by the way, why don't we fly out here more often? I saw a strange formation of planets and moons around the sun. Planets circling up above and below the usual horizontal plain that we're used to in Sirius. Maybe something to check out and further explore? Image recorded is the only one I could capture.
Since the corridor within Omicron Alpha has opened up to us, I did a little bit of snooping on my own. Found this big rock, looks like it used to be a base of sorts? Lucky it was accidental and that none of the Maltese were around to see me out this far. Though, I thought it was a good idea on my second visit to bring one of these Maltese to this rock, and guess what? They already knew about it. Big thing, had a few pods laying around, a destroyed liner. I won't tell Orbital. Seems something like this is what Albert may be interested in. I'll send this little record over with the images I've captured.
At least this Maltese I flew with were okay with me being outside the corridor.
[16.02.2024 10:38:13] HS>CAI.Mestisa: what do we have here an explorer on m sensors
[16.02.2024 10:38:17] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Ugh, what do you want?
[16.02.2024 10:39:05] HS>CAI.Mestisa: now tell me what brings you to our humble homeworld
[16.02.2024 10:39:29] HS>CAI.Mestisa: and what do I want the curiousity of such explorer specially the starfliers
[16.02.2024 10:39:46] HS>CAI.Mestisa: you made a good impression enough that we did buy some materials from your base at inverness
[16.02.2024 10:39:46] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I dunno, I saw a big rock earlier on the other side.
[16.02.2024 10:40:26] HS>CAI.Mestisa: what kind of big rock this one is also a curious on what rock you are referring too
[16.02.2024 10:40:26] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Buy stuff? Not my area of expertise.
[16.02.2024 10:40:47] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: How do you no- nevermind. I'll show you.
[16.02.2024 10:41:37] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Giant rock. In the cloud.
[16.02.2024 10:41:53] HS>CAI.Mestisa: oh you mean the irradiated area
[16.02.2024 10:42:02] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Uh... huh.
[16.02.2024 10:42:32] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Lemme stop here for a quick pick me up.
[16.02.2024 10:42:44] HS>CAI.Mestisa: roger that
[16.02.2024 10:42:58] Cloaking device off
[16.02.2024 10:43:25] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Alrighty... so it was, this way?
[16.02.2024 10:43:47] HS>CAI.Mestisa: moving to your position
[16.02.2024 10:44:20] HS>CAI.Mestisa: I also was studying some planet also here hidden in the clouds you know of this?
[16.02.2024 10:44:38] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Planet? Here? News to me.
[16.02.2024 10:45:11] HS>CAI.Mestisa: so what intel you explorers have of this place
[16.02.2024 10:45:54] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I saw this earlier.
[16.02.2024 10:46:12] HS>CAI.Mestisa: maybe its before my time in the navy
[16.02.2024 10:46:44] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Looks old.
[16.02.2024 10:47:17] HS>CAI.Mestisa: that I dont have what information you are looking for about this hunk of rock
[16.02.2024 10:47:45] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well again, this isn't my area of expertise.
[16.02.2024 10:48:09] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Suppose Albert would like to have a little look-see.
[16.02.2024 10:48:09] HS>CAI.Mestisa: so you should be careful in this cloud
[16.02.2024 10:48:23] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Eh? Why?
[16.02.2024 10:48:25] HS>CAI.Mestisa: aliens are sighted here
[16.02.2024 10:48:31] HS>CAI.Mestisa: they aint friendly to any human
[16.02.2024 10:48:38] HS>CAI.Mestisa: worst case you get abducted
[16.02.2024 10:48:54] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Eh that's nothing new.
[16.02.2024 10:49:14] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: It was more or less that when I signed up for the Starfliers.
[16.02.2024 10:49:26] HS>CAI.Mestisa: true dangers first rewards later
[16.02.2024 10:49:51] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: What are these pods? I guess I'll record these down.
[16.02.2024 10:50:56] HS>CAI.Mestisa: you know we use this cloud as a burial site for our passed on veterans
[16.02.2024 10:50:56] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well, that's it. Unless you wanna show me this planet.
[16.02.2024 10:51:29] HS>CAI.Mestisa: lets go then
[16.02.2024 10:51:36] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I've seen a graveyard. Don't wanna piss off your higher ups by disturbing theirs.
[16.02.2024 10:51:42] HS>CAI.Mestisa: it was being investigated by HQ for some time
[16.02.2024 10:51:53] HS>CAI.Mestisa: I dont know if they are willing to even terraform the planet
[16.02.2024 10:52:42] HS>CAI.Mestisa: but we really need large amounts of water to do that
[16.02.2024 10:52:44] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Hey, we're outside the area that you're higher ups allwed us. This is okay?
[16.02.2024 10:53:23] HS>CAI.Mestisa: you are with a higher ranking officer anyway
[16.02.2024 10:53:38] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: If you say so.
[16.02.2024 10:53:45] HS>CAI.Mestisa: it just would be a waste if I did not show it to you
[16.02.2024 10:53:51] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I'll blame you if I get done for this.
[16.02.2024 10:53:55] HS>CAI.Mestisa: to fire up the project again
[16.02.2024 10:54:10] HS>CAI.Mestisa: why would you blame a diplomat my friend
[16.02.2024 10:54:24] HS>CAI.Mestisa: I speak clearly as intent for peace and knowledge
[16.02.2024 10:54:35] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Heh, you sound like Leon.
[16.02.2024 10:54:44] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Anyways, project. Go on.
[16.02.2024 10:54:52] HS>CAI.Mestisa: and research 1 of the best things that can fire up our technology to its potential
[16.02.2024 10:55:10] HS>CAI.Mestisa: and advancement
[16.02.2024 10:55:33] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Now you sound like the Technocracy.
[16.02.2024 10:56:05] HS>CAI.Mestisa: well aint the scientist ignored by the politicans well enough
[16.02.2024 10:56:25] HS>CAI.Mestisa: once their homeland is under threat you will be called upon to figure out something
[16.02.2024 10:56:36] HS>CAI.Mestisa: the saddest career that is being overshadowed
[16.02.2024 10:57:17] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Uh... huh. Well I doubt I'll be around much longer anyways.
[16.02.2024 10:57:34] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Got... plans.
[16.02.2024 10:57:49] HS>CAI.Mestisa: did you come here to study the edge worlds and all about things unknown
[16.02.2024 10:57:58] HS>CAI.Mestisa: right
[16.02.2024 10:58:26] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Well my job is to find things and note it down.
[16.02.2024 10:58:36] HS>CAI.Mestisa: so you basically a scout
[16.02.2024 10:58:43] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I fucking hate it, but apparently I have to do it.
[16.02.2024 10:58:45] HS>CAI.Mestisa: to check if its safe

[16.02.2024 11:00:23] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: Also seen that little maze of a minefield in that system beyond the unstable rift.
[16.02.2024 11:00:39] HS>CAI.Mestisa: the graveyard?
[16.02.2024 11:00:53] HS>CAI.Mestisa: yes we usually get some cool tech there but its risky

[16.02.2024 11:03:49] '\S/'Pulsar: Halpert: I'll sort myself out. Thanks for your concern, I guess.
It has been three and a bit years since I last flew for the Starfliers, since the time I docked at our station and received the comm that would change my life forever.
My Father, back on Freeport 6, was dying.
Despite all the advanced nanotechnology, medical tech and chemical concoctions? The human race still can not make an affordable cure for cancer.
Oh there is one, but it is only for the rich and powerful. Us who live on the bottom, ekeing enough money out of each day to survive, we cannot afford the expensive remedies peddled by Cryer and their ilk.
At this juncture, I had expected to throw myself into my work, struggling to make any extra coin in an attempt to extend my Father's life or reduce his pain. However, it was my Father who prevented this. "Come Home" he told me, "Insurance has paid out for pallative care. The amount is enough to support both you and your mother for some time."
What was I supposed to do? My Father had made his choice and any attempt to change things now would revoke the insurance payments, placing us in crippling debt.
So I took unpaid leave and went home.
As the months rolled by and my Father still did not pass, I made a trip and handed in my resignation to Boss Albert. He looked me squarely in the eye and told me "Family comes first, take all the time you need, We'll still be here when you get back."
As far as he was concerned, that was the end of it.
My father passed last year, but the insurance payouts were still good, so I stayed to look after my bereaved Mother. The last few months, things have begun to settle. As such, I find myself becoming itchy, I have been dreaming of returning to space.
So I stand here, looking out the viewing window at the '\S/'Pyxis. It sits in the long-term storage at Freeport 6, looking strangely fresh and new.
The funny thing about Zoner long term storage is that they do it in a vacuum, so while you would imagine the ship to be dusty, stiff and unused, the reality is that it's basically in the same condition as it was when first stored. Except the fuel has been removed to prevent any radiation damage, of course.
It feels strange, looking at this little scoutcraft and wondering what I would find if I were to fly back to the Starflier base in today's times.
Would the grumpy old Halpie still be there?
Would Albert still have a place for me in his team of scouts and pilots?
Do we still do the same tasks we used to?
...Will I ever get the chance to fly again?
My comms are pinging, my Mother has finished with her appointments and wants me to collect her. I take one more glance at the sleek lines of the Pyxis, before turning around and walking away.
Perhaps I will get to fly one day soon, but that day is not today.
Starfliers Internal Comms Record Name: Leon Vicci, Location: Starfliers Research Complex
Subject: Retirement
Hello pilots. This is Leon Vicci.
As of a few minutes ago, I have resigned my position as the leader of the Starfliers. This day was slowly approaching, as I could see that this company has grown well past what I had imagined. From our early days in Kepler until now, we have accomplished so much. With my resignation, I wanted to say that I am proud of every single one of you. Your efforts performing your tasks have not gone unnoticed.
In recent weeks, you may have noticed that an "Enterprise"-Class ship has been moored on our Research Complex. This is not one of Orbital's ships, rather one specially retrofitted for our own use. It's called "Sol", named after our home system from way back when we lived on Earth. You may think of it as the Velorum two-point-oh. This is my gift to the Starfliers as I prepare my things to travel to Curacao.
In my stead, Albert McKenzie has taken on the role of leader. His expertise and familiarity with our processes and assets make him the most qualified person to keep the organization going. He has told me that there are changes coming to improve the efficiency of our work. With me gone, I do hope you welcome him into his new position and stay true to the Starfliers vision for the future.
I knew my time to fly again would come, but never did I expect it to come so soon.
Leon has resigned and Albert has taken his place. From what I gather, this is not because he failed in any way, but because he felt it was time to move on. To be honest, the only times I ever had contact from Leon, was when I was accepted into the Starfliers and the time he showed me how we use the MRV's in the field.
Usually I reported to Albert or Halpie anyway, so not much has changed for me.
Not long after Leon's announcement I received an emergency request from the Starfliers.
Apparently, a Kishiro Barge was stuck in Inverness and needed assistance with co-ordinates to jump out of the system. I have seen massive Barges before when flying with the team and I recall how awkward it is for them to navigate. Without precise co-ordinates, they could end up inside a natural hazard and become stuck. Not only was I the closest Starflier to their desired destination, but I was the only one available who had the special equipment required to provide these coordinates.
As such, I had to quickly fuel up the Pyxis and get out there. The cost of getting priority service for de-mothballing and refuelling wasn't cheap, but the Starfliers paid it without even flinching at the bill.
Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan. Although I got the Pyxis launched in what felt like record time, it turns out that storage had not been kind to her. I quickly found that the engines weren't smooth and the shield was completely non-functional. Not to be deterred, I still headed out to the requested co-ordinates in Galileo and connected to the Starflier Network with my Hyperspace Matrix to prepare to upload my co-ordinates.
I now believe there is nothing more harrowing than sitting in between two clouds of Dark Matter in empty space with no-one inside comms range and no shield. I had to completely trust in the physical radiation shielding and my good luck not to get struck with some random debris that might penetrate my hull.
Thankfully, the matrix was working and I managed to successfully relay the precise co-ordinates to the Kishiro Barge, allowing it to safely establish a connection. I decided it was not worth risking my fragile and unshielded ship to an unstable temporary jumphole. So I decided to take the slower, but safer, trade lanes to Cortez. Pyxis was obviously not working properly and needed some attention, better to get it done at the Starflier Base, rather than pay the expensive Zoner rates at Freeport 6.
This however, brings me to the saddest news of the day.
I have since been informed that Pyxis had to be replaced. The old J3P 5S "Hayabusa" light fighter that has served for many years has been replaced by a new Renzu model and the obsolete parts are no longer available. Thankfully the core of Pyxis, the custom Starflier scanners, computers, navigational equipment and the matrix were all transferred into the new model with minimal problems; a fact that is surprising considering the more streamlined dimensions.
P.S. I am worried about my Mother and am calling her everyday, but she insists that I should stay out here and resume work. I believe she new that I was getting restless and doesn't want me to restructure my life around her. I'm not certain how willing I am to do that yet, she is all I have left.
