On loose information by a suspected irrational acquaintance in the Core, senorita Daniels had asked Chenzo to meet her on Freeport 11.
The Loyalist's Fist needing necessary repairs after the victorious onslaught in omicron Theta, the Zoners had their freeport back.
The back of the enemy broken, they had more mouths to feed than they could hope to cover, Corsairs were now more vulnerable than ever. Every army marches on its stomach. The boom in Corsair population in the time passed since they had taken the Freeport meant that there were more mouths to feed than ever. Externally, the Freeport was taken. The Zoner warships along with an Outcast holding fleet controlled this space now. Easily re-enforced by support from Alpha.
He arrived at Freeport 11, the scene wasn't pleasant. many soldiers of all creed's tending to wounded, dismay and chaos in the air. Chenzo pays the dockmaster to keep the bay with his Sabre private. There's no way the zoners would ever go back on it considering the events which had just unfolded in Theta.
Not knowing where he was going, but guessing as best as he could, he navigated the corridors to where Daniels had asked they meet.
Upon finally arriving where he was indicated, a brief examination of the door showed it to be very dusty, tatty.
This door clearly wasn't used much.
Taking a moment to send a transmission he'd recorded earlier, he looks up and down the door once more.
Punching in 3713 on the keypad, the door opened up. Inside was very dingy and not too pleasant of an odour exuded from within, regardless, he stepped in.
Battlecruiser Anassi approached Freeport 11. It halted to a stop at around twelve kilometers from it. A single fighter departed its hangar and swiftly moved on the Freeport.
As it touched down, a woman in full combat armor with gold accents exited the craft and headed for the east wing. She didn't waste no time and reached her destination rather fast.
Upon entering the warehouse, she took off her helmet, revealing a wildly voluminous haircut, dyed in purple. Her eyes glowing in an ethereal cyan shade, contrasting the otherwise gloom environment of the facility they were in. She gave off a rather menacing aura.
-We've got a fucking problem. I thought we were going to liberate the Freeport. But now you tell me we're going to nuke it? Are you for real? I've even heard Outcasts on the comms, less than an hour ago, openly voicing their intentions. I thought we had a damned deal, Chenzo.
Confused at the stressed individual's information being provided, Chenzo sought to address the elephant in the room.
Chenzo: "Senorita, we had absolutely no plans to Nuke the Freeport. Thanks to your co-operation, that of the Zoners. there were no enemy's left when the Zoner's took up pride of place by their station.
Am I seeing this wrong?
Look, from Senor Burton himself after all corsairs were wrecked."
He tosses his pda to Daniels displaying a picture message from the zoner she'd been in a meeting with, Burton at this operations offensive on Comercio Fantasma.
(// Can I please have sombody help me edit this image to reflect Jammi’s update story post of two of the three Biodomes shot in)
Chenzo looks at the woman infront of him, so many emoticons.
Chenzo: "First hand proof of no Nuke's, senorita?"
Gabrielle catches the PDA, without taking off her gaze from Chenzo.
-I'm somehow not falling for this. Are you telling me they have already taken the station? That's absurd. No strike force operates that fast. There are still plenty of enemy personnel on that 'port. And you've already admitted that the destruction of the biodomes was still on the table. Were you really going to do that, if it came down to it?
Chenzo: Oh, forgive me senorita. Externally the station is under wraps. The bulk of our forces, I imagine the same as yours are back holding up the fort at home. The strike teams which I'm not sure are active yet or even deployed. That was your bit, si?
Yes, if the internal cleansing doesn't succeed, as per Harabero's input, we are to wreck the Biodomes.
The problem here is, they have a ni-on infante food resource inside. So it's down to external pressure to empty the station of Corsairs.
The Zoner's flagships remain present at the station to fend of any counter attack.
Given understandings we’re now becoming parallel, Chenzo sought to truthfully address Daniels concerns. He gently moves closer to Daniels, takes and pockets the PDA before holding her arms & looking her square in her prosthetics
Chenzo:Senorita, yes indeed two biodomes were damaged, but they can be rebuilt. If we were to have deployed Nukes then everyone within would be fried. The metals which make up the station totally useless. ”
He lets her go and begins to gently pace with his hands linked behind his back as he continues
Chenzo: “Allow me to explain why holding one’s word is just so important to Maltese, Senorita. Apart from it just being the only way to be, we live much longer than the average human. We’re around for longer so who we are is much, much more important. Reputation is more valuable than anything. Whether I succeed in my endeavours or fail- I can always stand by with the fact I won’t break my word. If your guys can’t take the freeport internally, I have an escape vehicle for you as mentioned prior.”
He turns to face Daniels, once again making direct eye contact with her dazzling prosthetics
Chenzo:I will speak with Harabero & inform you immediately about any plan to totally cripple the station resulting in the ejection of your men. This was no plan I was a part of, but to ease you I will ask. I think Harabero may also be insulted by this notion.
This fight isn’t over yet Senorita, the corsairs will no doubt take this blow to bring their forces back from Bretonia. Regardless, they won’t recover from this for as long as we keep the freeport.”
A much more stern look falls over his face as he continues
Chenzo: “Six months ago I’d have drawn this pistol & shot you between the eyes without hesitation, but now. Now I’m glad that didn’t happen, you, your people. Instrumental to this cause. I do not know what future if any there is between us, our people. One thing I do know is that I’ll hold my word & we most certainly need your help to ensure the situation stabilises from here.
Have a think whilst I send a comm to Harabero.”
He jabs away at his PDA & initated a transmission to Harabero, when;
-I ain't done speaking, Chenzo. You don't get to walk out on me. Oh and uh, touch one more damned time and your lifespan will be drastically reduced. You'll be regretting not pulling the trigger on me when you had the chance.
The woman meant business, she was clearly pissed and the sudden change of her eyes' color from blue to red was a solid indicator of that.
-Now listen up. Here's how things are. We're in bed together until we flush the bloody Corsairs out of Theta. When the Zoners regain control of their station, the Core goes back to normal.
Your people can continue fighting the Corsairs on your own fronts, we'll hold 'em off from our side. We go our separate ways and we stay out of each other's respective irregular businesses.
Chenzo was walking out of the room to make his promised transmission when Daniels made her remarks, turning around & quickly cancelling his broadcast, he once again addresses Daniels.
Chenzo: "Senorita, you'll have to forgive me touching you, I cannot erase what has happened. I haven't ever lost composure before. I have not reached out to touch anyone I've not been well acquainted with before for more than a hand shake.
As for the rest of what you said, I couldn't agree more. Now let me do as I've advised I would"
He exits the room for no more than five minutes, after which he returns with a pistol in his hand. Looking at the annoyed woman Infront of him, he raises it and ejects the magazine, cocks to remove the last round from the chamber.
Chenzo:"I prefer antiques, they deliver a much more personal touch on things".
He says nothing for what feels like a while, neither of them do. Chenzo's PDA goes off breaking the tension. He glances at it, absorbs the information before taiking.
Chenzo: "Senorita, it's fair to say that I trust Harabero, but I don't know what agenda's he has in mind. I've asked him if there are any plans for Nuclear tactics. Hell, we have plenty of Nukes. I strongly doubt we'd use them for this, though.
None the less, I will remain firm with my promise of extract if things are to look to be heading that way.
Let me be blunt. The Freeport could go kablooey tomorrow, today, who knows, but it won't be us.
I won't pretend like there aren't elements known in Maltese society who are looking to blow it up, but we aren't one of them. If the Zoners or Core are looking to liberate it, that is in our best interest, as it creates a larger barrier between us and the Corsairs. We would even supply some munitions to assist them.
However, those biodomes cannot fall back into Corsair hands. That is the one exception. As I said aboard Commercial Fantasma, if they retake or are threatening to, we will blow those up. Otherwise, the Freeport shall stay.
There is always the possibility that the Corsairs however could sabotage the station to harm our relations. Always be vigilant about that.
If you have any further questions, let me know. Until next time.
Alejandro Harabero - Explorador Alfa
Chenzo respectfully retrieves his PDA without touching Daniels, takes a step back and responds to Harabero right in front of her. Finishing with his signature salute, he turns to Daniels and speaks
Gabrielle was wondering why Chenzo went to take a gun and then unload it in front of her. Was this some sort of message? An act of compliance, intended to defuse the situation? Whatever the case might've been, she leaned back on the nearby wall, pulled out a cigarette and lit it.
-What's next? I'll tell you what's next. We do our best to finish the job. We kill every fucking corsair on that station. We space their remains and we let them zoners do their thing.
Two biodomes are already gone, so we have to be very careful not to do any more damage to the station.
She pushed herself off the wall and started pacing around the room.
-I'm absolutely sure a lot of people are gunning for the Outcasts and the Core alike. I'll have to pull most of my forces back from Theta and reinforce other theaters of war. I'll leave just enough ships for an emergency extraction, but nothing more. The Anassi's battlegroup will remain in close proximity, not more than one system away, should its presence be required again.
