So, Leviathan. What's our next move? We're going to need to evaluate sooner than later, because I'm willing to bet that news will travel fast that there's a new weapon in play.
We'll need to get a team into Thuringia ASAP. As soon as it's livable. Did we get any estimates on how much radiation was released in the explosion? It should dissipate quickly without a medium to cause fallout, but the debris from the battle will probably hold a lot for a while, and I'm not sure what kind of psychic noise might still be lingering. I recommend simple probes first--they're disposable and not susceptible to that kind of feedback, so if they go down then it's not the end of the world. And we need to see what's left before someone else beats us to the punch.
As far as internal affairs go, I'm going to propose that information pertaining to the event be classified as zeta for now, until we have a better idea of what's going on. The last thing we need is more leaks at a sensitive time like this.
We're also going to need to figure out what to do about Lazurith. He can't just keep sitting on Honshu forever, and he's too valuable to send out into the field like he did today. Caliban and Viper singled him out in that fight--I'm sure they were hoping to do the same to us that we did to them. This also suggests that Viper is on the level, though we can't jump to conclusions about that. Have you spoken with our other contact yet about that?
Let me know. You know how much I hate sitting idle.
Though, you saw the same thing we all did - the weapon is gone. It's destroyed. Whether they have the means to replicate it or not, I can't even say for certain. This is more Revenant's department. Truthfully I went there blind, as she hadn't given me much details about the whole endeavor. Neither had the Direktor when I probed, so what we saw was definitely a surprise. Was there really a scream? I can't really, uh... You know. Hear that.
The Thuringia side of things is already being handled by The Expeditionary teams. It's their ballpark now, and we'll be keeping an eye to quarantine any further issues. Though, given the situation that went down in the Sigmas I don't imagine Rheinland being too happy to see us. What's done is done, however. If things start to truly get bad, I may reach out on my own accord and try to smooth things over.
Given the nature of what happened, we can elude to a larger issue of the Nomads being at hand, though absolutely no mention of the truth of the matter until we establish a proper understanding. This'll likely be something for other teams to handle, and isn't ultimately up to us right now.
As for Lazurith - I told Revenant that I regret not having him join us on the Scylax before things began to heat up. Unfortunately, things escalated too quickly and decisive action was necessary. From what I've been told: It's likely that the increasing presence of Order you've noticed and Caliban have influenced Viper with the same foolish paranoia that begets the violence we've seen take Thuringia. Right now, I'm leaving that to Revenant until she decides to have me tap in as I had said. This is ultimately her playing field.
Lazurith needs to be kept back. It's absolutely imperative that he not enter Thuringia, as the psionic imprint will cause... complications. It may attract more. The Sentinels, too. He also needs to be taken care of medically, so ensure that he lives and get him the hell out of Rheinland. Take him back home, to Inverness. I may take over the MedForce deal and have you take over The Lane Hacker angle in the meantime, that way the two of you can focus on something local. Just... Don't let him go to Liberty, and if he leaves your sight again - I'll find him with you, and personally ensure he gets the message of just how important it is that he take this seriously.
You know I'm working on a plan, yes? Though the viability of which is subject to question, as I have yet to meet with the one responsible. As soon as I know more, then you, Revenant, Lazurith and myself all need to sit down and have a very serious discussion. Ultimately, I aim to take him off the chessboard and save his life. The cost of which is yet to be determined, but I hope his life can be saved.
Until then, get him home safely. Report any sightings of the target if he recovers from this dispatch attempt. It's important he stay as far away from the front, Caliban, and anything alien that isn't coming explicitly from the quarantine zone at Hardpoint Zero. It's for his own safety. Stress this. Stress this as much as you possibly can. Evidently, he hasn't gotten it clear enough from me.
Well, everything's officially out the f*cking window. I don't know how to begin unpacking where to go from here, I'm still groggy from being woken up.
Lazurith's on board. He's still got reservations, but we're working on it. He understands what's at stake. He's just sentimental, which we already knew. Hopefully we won't have to worry about proving his fears.
We're going to have to rethink our whole approach, of course, but I suspect that we won't have to throw it all away. Lazurith had some good ideas of his own, which I'll elaborate on when we can talk face-to-face.
I'm trusting you to pull things together. You've got the more complete picture here. Let me know what you're thinking.
This honestly kicked off way faster than I had planned.
Way faster than either of us had talked about. There's much to do - preparations to make. I've got some new assignments for people.
I knew Lazurith would be hard to sway. He carries his pride - wants to protect what he loves, and believes being a martyr will assure that. You've said it yourself - he can't protect people who're running into danger after him. Though, don't worry. There'll be time for figuring this out. I'm on my way to meet with Revenant now, and fill them in.
