It has been a few days since I have moved into the leadership position of the Starfliers.
During this brief period, I have noticed that there has been a huge misallocation of resources and finances across the company. Presumably set in place by Leon. As much as I believed he was working to build the company up to be it's best, this role has opened my eyes. I shall be hands on with how this company runs in order for it to make sense and for everyone and everything to get what's required in order to work as efficiently as possible.
Majority of my day one tasks have already been completed. Last of which includes replacing our transports with bigger ones. Once this has been completed, there is one major task what I will need all pilots to assist with.
Our Research Complex relies heavily on the importation of water and fertilizer. Leon's efforts with ALG has allowed our station to be upgraded with "Carapace"-Class shielding. The next big project will be to find technologies that will enable self-sufficiency with our hydroponics system. If or when this can be achieved, it means a lot of our finances can be directed towards our four research and development wings.
Please do utilize our communal research fleet and try to find anything that will help.

During our routine post-launch checks of the Sol just outside of our station in Inverness, a squadron of unknown ships showed up on scanners. Inbound towards my position. Chatter was heard from the group, securing the area, making sure no others were around to disturb them. One pilot announced themselves as Viper - the same Viper I have been in communications with recently.
The conversation with Viper was debriefing on the task they had set for us - a recovery of a dark matter artefact from the Uncharted Worlds connected to Earhart. We have had experience with such an object before, however I wanted to see if anything new would come from the second one we obtained. This information wasn't shared with Viper, regardless of this they seem to want to study this further. They have promised to relay any discoveries back to us, which would be invaluable compensation for our efforts to recover it.
Below is an image captured from an external camera as well as my black box logs of the impromptu meeting. They claim they may have yet another job for us, in the near future. If it is as challenging as the last one, I am confident we are ready for it.

Albert McKenzie Ship: '\S/'Quasar Location: Inverness - Omicron Delta
Recently we had the opportunity to work with the Junkers in restoring a transport found in the Ontario System. Once the vessel was operational, two additional ones were constructed and ready for us to pickup.
Previously, we had made trade runs between Inverness to Omicron Delta with our older Albatross trade fleet. This was sufficient up until a point, where our size and upkeep had over-paced our ability to financially break even. With our new "Retrofit"-Class transports from the Junkers, myself and my second in charge John had made the same trade run to Omicron Delta and back. I am proud to report that with a 68.75% increase on profits gained from these new transports, it will provide enough financial stability for our organization. Enough so to put a sizable amount towards our next big project, if when and what that will be. John and I had returned to Inverness only a short time ago, making more than a million credits between us in the process.
As much as I do like seeing our profits fuel the rest of the organization without any hiccups, a part of me does miss the simplicity of the older Albatross. A shame as the ones we had flown have been scrapped to create these new ships. Parts of them still live on with us.

Met up with Abel, who has organized a crew of 50 workers to be transported to our station. They had stopped by the Freeport, wanting us to show them our station. After covering costs for the relocation, Abel said their teams are excited to start. May need to interview them before they are hands on with the hydroponics system. It is not ready yet and I still need to get someone to fly out to Omicron Kappa to get the module for construction.

With the few ongoing projects on the Research Complex, I was surprised to find a block of time that was not taken by a meeting, interview, question, walk-in or any event or activity. I decided to spend this time taking out one of the new "Retrofit"-Class transports and do a handful of loads of water from the nearby Junker installation.
What comes at no surprise was a small fleet of Auxesia ships flying by, one of their larger vessels, the Achlys, and Revenant, who has been our point of contact for Auxesia as a whole. Our conversation in Inverness went over a few topics. My explaining of our position and current developments on our base, looking at building a new observatory and testing our new hydroponics. The Auxesia informed us of a new infrastructure change within the system. I am unsure of specifics, however this undoubtedly includes us to some degree. May need to reach out later down and get these details.
For now, I am not worried. As I am now Leader, they do not seem concerned for our current ongoings and have provided suggestions for the observatory. If anything, they want us to succeed. Leon was not lying.

With our projects coming slowing down over the recent months, we now have the chance of putting more pilots out into the field. As my own work has slowed down, due to other elements not being completed as soon as I had hoped, this has allowed me to enter space as an explorer. Feels strange, I have spent so long indoors, behind windows and in front of simulation suites and terminals. Almost forgot what inside of a cockpit feels like. With my excursion out into Coronado, I decided to pickup some extra digital copies of our own paperwork to add to our stock on our research station. The clerk at the desk took quite some time to get the official paperwork signed off for duplication, so this allowed me to observe the surrounds of the station from the lounge. This is where it came. A sudden, but brief spike of energy. Not huge, but enough to warrant some form of follow up. It then happened again, and again. All on my PDA, as I was looking through details of our recent progress on our projects.
To my knowledge, energy spikes such as this would only be produced by electrical storms, jump gates and other high-energy apparatuses. Neither of them are closely present to Barrier Gate. Turning on my ship remotely from my PDA, I tuned my vessel's long-range radar to the strange readings. The asteroids surrounding barrier gate prevented the spherical graph from displaying any readings on the horizontal plane. But... a huge reading has come from the vertical reading, beneath us. I will be looking into this further. Could be we have made a huge discovery very close to home. It is essential I restock any resources on board my vessel and be careful flying. My next message will be presenting what I find, regardless of it's size, resources, significance or otherwise.

It appears that Kishiro is occupied with more important matters. This does not bother me too much, only that our Observatory research project is at a standstill until a shipment of Optronics is made. I decided to take it upon myself to fly out to Shinagawa to pickup a load myself. During the transit via Colorado and Ontario, our speedometer was recorded to be higher than normal. It was only when I reached the Inverness rift that I further checked the ship's systems to find that a few of the cargo pods had fallen off this transport!
The estimated cargo capacity I returned home with was in the high eighteen hundreds, just below what I would have been carrying if we did not scrap our old "Albatross"-Class ships. It was nice to have an upgrade to our logistics overhead, though having the transports fall apart mid-flight is another story. We may need to look at alternatives.
I shall let Starlight and the Bureau know that some of the Optronics were delivered to Inverness. Since it is a prototype we are building, it may be we did not need a full load to perform a full test of it. This channel will be updated with more details once new information comes around.
Albert McKenzie Ship: '\S/'SRV-Sol Location: Inverness System
It has been quite some time since one of our Pilots, Halpert Kennedy, had travelled on their own to secure us a prototype exploration vessel. From our talks in the hallways of our Research Complex, it seems that the ship designed was nothing more than a reduced version of an already failing ship design. The basic information available to us regarding the older "Kali"-Class variant made it quite unsuitable as a base to create our own ship from. This was severely overlooked by Kennedy.
It is with this message that I am informing the rest of our pilots that a shift will occur to allow further research and development to complete Kennedy's project. Project: "Vector" will resume, to ensure that we give ourselves the best vessel for our needs, without relying on existing designs that we will need to further adjust. I remember a time when we had to scorch the offensive mounts of our vessels to prevent the use of arms. Once we reach the end of this, we no longer will need to take such archaic actions.
Let us work together and make the best exploration vessel we can.

Today I record one of the most interesting anomalies to be surveyed by the Starfliers. The Bundschuh, a group originating in Rheinland made contact with us to show us this particular stellar body. In their original communication, they had shown us a single image, detailing what looked like an obliterated planet with a rift within. When we had rendezvous with Paul Botzler, they had brought us to it's location first meeting in Frankfurt, then going out through Dresden and landing in Thuringia - and it was both extremely stunning and extraordinary.
What was shown to us was a stellar body called Planet Gotha. A stellar body remnant, a planet that was long since been destroyed. Keeping some of the planet's tectonic plates and residual structure in place is a rift within. My navigational computer gave it a singular designation "Dimensional Rift." Botzler wanted us to survey Planet Gotha and the rift within. The immediate area around the planet was recorded to be safe, however there was no indication of where this rift lead. With out superficial scans done of Gotha, I had allowed the Pluto to be pulled within this Dimensional Rift, so we can confirm where it lead to.
To our surprise, both Botzler's and my team's arrived within Earhart. We spent a bit of time here, taking our time to fly through one of the unexplored sectors that were open to us at the time. Considering the unnerving nature of this area, I had decided to retreat into a nearby rift that lead us back to Sirius, specifically Bering. We went our separate ways, us to prepare for our transit back to Inverness and Botzler's team back to Rheinland. We may be called again by his group, though now that we know about Planet Gotha, I may bring the Pluto out to Thuringia once again to study it further.

Woohoo! Racing here I come... Or perhaps not?
Today I decided to make the trip to Provence to use the Racetrack for training.
Unfortunately I forgot two major things of note. First, that my ship still has no shield installed. Secondly that due to a combination of the recent upheaval and the fact that I haven't flown the Pyxis is a long time, my navigation maps are outdated. Typically, I did not realise this till I reached Baffin.
Once upon a time, this would have been an easy fix. The old Pyxis was equipped to connect to the Starflier network and download the up-to-date cartography reports. Unfortunately, though the hyperspace matrix is still installed, my quantum keys are outdated. To make the situation worse, I grew lax while crossing Coronado and managed to receive some moderate damage in the Barrier Rim.
Thankfully, I ran into a Zoner flying a cargo ship named "Zettan". They managed to direct me to the Tau-29 Jumphole. From there, the two of us travelled together to Tau-23. They seemed worried about my unshielded ship when passing through the gas pockets, but by now I was fully awake and paying attention. So, flying carefully through the field is nothing to me.
Once in Tau-23, we parted ways. I docked at Java Station while they carried on to Tau-37. I know they were worried about my ship, possibly rightfully so, as I think I'll have to stay here for a while till the ship is repaired.
I've also put in a an expense form for a new shield. I was going to requisition one, but since I'm away from the base, I'll just have to hope that the Boss approves it. If not, then I'm gonna have to pay off a loan.
