Honestly, i'm trying to adjust to all this & learn to have fun but the making of your ways are a tad frustrating

but i do find it absurd to have a shield that i have to turn off to be able to regen & fire more that one gun,
may as well remove the shields like you's did with the bats.
And removing those nano bats the NPC's drop so i can hit my target would a great help.

How about a Shield Harmonic Throttler (as counterpiece to the Reinforcer)?
I don't see the necessity of not using shields, even in campaign shields were what saved you if you liked to venture more, plus, if shields will cost energy why not set up energy as it was before? a command to "Overclock" your shield by great boost (like CPU's doing even years ago, they use more power but their performance increases even can double or triple it while conditions allow it) and even another command to return shield to a low-phase shift where they don't consume lots of power but still being able to regen, something like:
Low Regen: 1250u/s
Normal Regen: 5000u/s
High Regen: 10000u/s
In Exchange:
Low Regen consumes let's say 500 u/s of power
Normal Regen consumes 3000 u/s of power
High Regen (due normality of High Regen things or Overclocking things) let's put them at 20000 u/s of power
same for all capital ships where even in series they can "Divert energy to the main shield, weapons, or even systems to improve it, but having a lack of other things, this case, energy, while doing so for weapons would be breaking the game, shields are more easier as only gunboat and above will have this feature, so when you need a boost you trade-off energy ship restoration in exchange to greatly improve or deny defenses ...
Making it needed to have at least 2 bombers to make it fall, some people prefer using capital ship for 2 main reasons
1.- Ping, damn ping to whoever play in the americas, rarely seeing lower than 100ms to me actually the lowest i get is about 130ms ALWAYS and shoot against someone has lower like 30ms is damn hard, my skill in lower ship class don't help, is true, but my response time isn't as fine tunned when fighting someone with ping advantage on this game
2.- More armor and heavy energy ships give me the chance to denial some of their advantage, by holding them more or making them more complicated to kill me, now i have less guns available, worst arcs now than before (because you reduced the weapons or which weapons allow which guns, or just nerf the guns) plus now shields use not twice or three times, but instead some about 5 or even 10 times more (trust me, pay off 5K or even those 22.5K when having a regen power of 240,000 is acceptable, but paying 22.5K when having 40K of Regen is too high for the little it can restore ... playing a ship without shields isn't a feature, is a nerf, not even a trade-off cause my regen is lower than what i pay for it, 22.5K of energy i would be expecting having 11000 u/s of regen, not that crappy of 1.6K of regen, you can even make it 1:1, but paying 14 times higher for 14 times lower regen is kinda stupid and useless, armor can't even withstand with those AoE put on torpedos (and even on bombers, isn't like a huge capital torpedo hit you, just fighter one having more AoE than Capital ones) ...
The one who balanced that things were so smoked out head surely, i don't know how you balance things being unreasonable to even real life ...
Maybe they trying to use less capital ships, but if that is your way, at least fix first what is wrong before doing changes (like your flaks that in crusiers go to where i am not shooting [I shoot up and that goes down ......])
Seriously, stop the drugs dear @BalanceDevs you really need to re-think and create more "Realistic" gameplay ... capital ship is capital ship, not that thinky a bomber can surpass any capital due this being kinda defenseless, remember, 2 bombers can kill even the biggest capital ships ... in the past i was needed a bunch of bombers and fighters against me, if not ask @L1ght when i visited Liberty using my GNI Crusier just for the fun ... at least one bomber will lose, before i die of such damaging, now i can barely defend against one thanks for that "changes" without sense. (And in those times i was playing with almost 170ms of ping, now with 50ms~ less i can't do it ... ha ha)

Very noob and new player unfriendly and off putting sadly - it's not fun to have a duel for an hour barely shooting, not knowing what's wrong- forcing using console or special keybinds to be able to play a ship class wasn't thought through.
I'm sure you will say "skill issue" - well yeah, it is - for many of us who play casually, as a result we just play less
Aye, i think that's the whole point of Tenshi's post here, caps are just no fun like they used to be
and players aren't even bothering logging their fleets anymore,
i mean players are trying but they're just too painful to fly & give up on them to gather dust.
Same thing for the Bustard, what a gem that used to be, now it's just a Basket case.
