Since we are living in an unstable economy with too many price changes, etc., I recommend getting back to an economy developer in order to avoid having overpriced or below-market-priced Sci-data.
The confusion is too much, and one single mistake from a developer pricing a wrong item with an incorrect number or wrong allowance to buy a commodity or a pilot that should not be bought will put you in Bastille.... and its extremely confusing so take care .... 30K, At this time, it will no be changed it seems, in Discovery we had a fraud being commited by admins, so everything got a 100x devaluation ... at the early times of 5.0 so ... It bring some benefits like not reaching 2.1B credits and break your char ... but i still don't see that 0.01 value on Water

I'm not sure if you can use Sci Data for engines/weapons still or not as there have been many changes to the mod since the introduction of the Sci Data system. An admin will need to chime in on that front. So far what is used for the most is upgrading POB Models to different ones which are available and there are many good looking ones to choose from (my personal favorite is the shattered ice base).
Rumor has it that the Sci Data system is being overhauled or discarded completely so do your due dilligence in researching money making methods. Hopefully the system gets an overhaul rather than removed completely.
Also, a bit off topic here but, don't worry about developers pricing things incorrectly. If you see something that sells for a lot of money on another base in the same system you are in, use common sense and realize that is not designed as intended and is more than likely an oversight. Meaning, if you pick up an item from Planet Manhattan for 40 SC per unit and it sells on Trenton Outpost for 400 SC per unit, something is amiss. Reporting those things in the proper places on the forums or Discord and not taking advantage of it is key to keeping your ships out of Bastille.
