To Wilt a Fleur Ile-de-France Trade, Siege, & Combat Event Maquis, Brigands | GN, GNI, Gendarmerie, Union Corse
DATES
Combat: Nov 10, 7-9PM UTC
Trade: Oct 28 - Nov 3
OVERVIEW
For months Marne has been rife with rolling strikes, demonstrations and unrest. First spurred on by concerns regarding the Treaty of Oerlikon, the disturbance has since been fuelled by anti-government Maquis agitation, and the long-prophesized arrival of industrial job losses and refinery closures. While GMS has attempted to shield its employees as much as it is able, redundancies caused by Rheinland minerals imports are a daily occurrence. The Union has so far refused to intervene and apply protectionist subsidies, citing its Treaty obligations. The Gendarmerie have tried to diffuse this pressure-cooker using their preferred method: the application of brute force, cracking down on the activists making the most noise.
As with the Kingdom before it, the Galic Union is an overwhelmingly centralised state, in both political power and military force. For the Union in particular, the two are practically inseparable. All trade between the Gallic colonies must run through Ile-de-France - past the paranoid eyes of Gendarmerie border control cruisers who see dissidents in every shadow. Attacks on military targets result in a single decisive counterassault, and the full focus of state repression is currently fixed on Marne. The iron fist of the Grand Marshall looms overhead, ready to crush the first to step out of line. The Maquis have devised a plan to exploit this rigid centralisation by spreading chaos across a wide area, splitting the Union's focus and breaking the iron fist's fingers, one by one.
Using their new-found associates in the Bundschuh, the Maquis intend to import Black Market Munitions to arm dissident sects on other Gallic planets. Even if resulting unrest is not sustained, it will be enough to temporarily draw a panicked redeployment of Union forces, who remain terrified of the prospect of another popular uprising. Then, guerilla strikes will be launched on Ile-de-France's Gendarmerie cruisers, quickly inflicting damage before vanishing back into the asteroid fields. They hope that a sustained campaign of attack and retreat will keep the Union off balance, constantly chasing its tail. The Maquis' schemes are not without opposition, however. Fearsome Corsican assassins are rumoured to prowl in the darkness, working with blade and blaster to execute suspected sympathisers or Maquis leaders at the behest of GNI paymasters.
As the situation reaches a boiling point not seen since the days leading up to the Second Gallic Civil War, many wonder what the future will bring.

The event siege will occur tomorrow, starting at 7pm UTC as planned. I have reduced the respawn timer and the hp of the destroyers to account for the single day. The reward requirements have also been reduced.
I will be overseeing the event and beaming people near the action as necessary.

I flew the [FLG]VG-Revolteur. Has the money been sent to that character? It doesn't seem to have arrived, unless someone opportunistically took it all before I logged it again, as it's a shared ship. I assumed I could have sent the cash to my bank character, BAF|MN-Lipton, and forgot about it, but I have searched through my DSAce file and there is no trace of such a large transaction to the character after the date of the results post.
