Because if you look at the previous events with a destructible ship you would notice that said ship/s almost always end up destroyed, remember the Wild, Artifact smuggling events or the Farmer Alliance transport same with the liners that went to Gallia. Another good reason to assist the Corsairs is the fact that they have to fight multiple factions with the Unioners as their only ally.
^ But those were only frigates, and this is a full size BC with *infinite* powercore. Anything that comes close will get shredded.
I think admins overtuned this. DTR alone can log (and probably will) around 50 people, most of them cruisers and up. Add to that TBH, Sails and other indie Corsairs and it's going to turn into a very unfun event with 70 vs 30 really fast.
EDIT: maybe allow repships for attackers? That could probably compensate for Corsair's numerical superiority a bit.
if its going to obviously be a stomp, one way or the other, I am sure the staff will edit the rules in the moment accordingly. We gotta wait to see what happens I think first before calling what will happen.
If one side over logs I hope the community will be able to balance it with the help of the Admins and the two new commands aka group count and group composition.

I dont think it will be that overboard, DTR has at most 20 players who would log, and we are likely to be murdered due to less skill on our end.
There was real fear in DTR that we would just get stomped immediately because hostile factions in Rheinland tend to work together when Crete is in the equation.
Hopefully stuff ends up balanced, and I and others will probably switch if Corsairs are stomping, as I hope the other side will too :]
Bit chaotic to say the least but fun, proud the event ship actually made it to the end (albeit heavily damaged) without staff having to heal it as we've seen happen occasionally in previous events where flagships were involved. Sure the event still results in the 'worst' inrp outcome for the sairs storywise, but a victory none the less; an event ship actually making it to the end for once. Also good staff compensated by having the ship wait at the jh when it forgot to wait at lagos, if anything a perk for the attackers (after confusion wore off) since no base defense at the jh.
