Sender:Adam Helson Recipient:Section 8 HC Subject:Ontario incident
Greetings.
My name is Adam Helson, and I am the commander of the 34th Order long-range space expeditionary brigade - «Hades». I am contacting you about your work in Ontario. According to reports from Battleship Atum, you are conducting research on the Planet Sudbury.
We have every reason to believe that the assault on Omicron Zeta is directly related to the Planet Sudbury, our senior scientist, Kōji Yasu, is willing to join your research operations and take his analysis. We could do our own analysis, but he insists on working with you.

I am Captain Emrys Belmont, commanding officer of the cruiser Unto Nightfall. Section 8 command has tasked me with responding to your request.
Command is very curious to hear your or Mister Yasu's hypothesis concerning a direct link between the Sudbury anomaly in the Ontario system and the Nomad attack on Cairo and Capetown Stations in Omicron Zeta. So far, our own analysis has not indicated any correlation between the two. That being said, Mister Yasu is welcome to join our operations in Ontario. Our local coordinator has been informed and is preparing for your researcher's arrival.
The departure date has been set: March 8 at 18:00. The total composition of the group will be four ships: a freighter with people and equipment and three escort ships. The details of our group is follow:
The group will be moving to Bering via Rheinland space.
At the Bering, there will be a stop at Bristol Bay Station, the ships will take a breather and sail onward.
The group will purposefully avoid encountering any ships unless they are ships of the Order. So that members of the group can trust any other people, we will have a password: “There is a disco in Ontario, would you like to join us on the dance floor?” The group would regard anyone neutral who spoke this password as an ally aware of the ships arrival in Ontario.
Upon arrival in the Ontario system, the ships will land on the Battleship Atum, after which Koji Yasu will personally contact you and get to work.
Also, if you have people who are waiting to be shipped to Ontario, there is still time for them to join: I can have the Order Command issue them travel vouchers as soon as possible and they can join our group. If you suddenly need to transfer not only people but also ships, the class limit is no higher than a gunboat.
If you have suggestions for the above items or additional information about Liberty's environment that could make the group's flight safer, I urge you to share them as a matter of urgency.

I will forward your travel itinerary and your chosen pass code to Section 8's local coordinator and our associates in the Liberty Free Republic (or Xeno Alliance). We are operating closely with the Liberty Free Republic, under the leadership of Damien Morreti, in regards to the Sudbury anomaly. The Free Republic has a vested interest in studying the site and securing it from third parties not aligned with the Order or the Xenos. You will be able to rely on them for support.
Section 8 currently has no need for transportation of manpower or material to the Ontario system and gratefully declines your offer.

Lieutenant Commander,
Our local coordinator, Senator, reports that your detachment arrived in the Ontario system without incident. I expect he has briefed your people on the basic rules of engagement, but let me reiterate:
Any hostile elements are to be engaged and neutralized. This includes the Libertonian Armed Forces, as well as any civilian or corporate entities that breach the perimeter around Planet Sudbury; bounty hunters; the Technocracy of Auxo; Nomads. The Xenos are to be assisted however possible with the maintenance of the Sudbury perimeter.
I would also like to repeat my request that your operatives show the Liberty Free Republic due respect for their continued hospitality and assistance. Without their commitment to our cause, Sudbury would have likely fallen into our enemies' hands long ago.
If you have any questions, feel free to direct them towards me or the local coordinator.
Battleship Atum's command has already sent me word that our men have arrived in full force. As planned. According to reports, my men have been briefed by the Senator, but I will also bring them additional information.
Further exploration of the planet will be left in the hands of Koji Yasu. He will contact you later.

My name is Koji Yasu, and I am a senior researcher in the 34th Brigade. Adam has probably already told you about me, and mentioned my name in relation to the Ontario system. You are probably aware of the general situation in Omicron Zeta, and I am truly sorry that things happened the way they did.
Our enemies are not slumbering, and when they made their treacherous attack, all my guesses about all the events of the past months began to come together. Because of this, I realized that the moment of truth would come very soon, and I made the decision to go to the Ontario system immediately. I have every reason to believe that the answers to our questions lie there.
That's why our fates intertwined yesterday. You have already pointed out the laws here, but before our group take any action, I want to get all the information you have been able to get in the time you have been here. It concerns the Planet Sudbury, of course. Before I can offer my perspective on the situation, I'd like to hear from my interlocutor.

Section 8 agrees that the recent events in the Edgeworlds are regrettable, even more so given that they were entirely preventable. But that is a topic of discussion for another time.
We are glad to have you join our investigation of the Sudbury anomaly and our efforts to understand and contain it. As such, command has granted you read-only access to both our own preliminary report on Planet Sudbury, as well as to a secure network established between Section 8 and the independent researcher Setsuko Narukami. I'm afraid you will find that we have not been able to establish much more than the most basic facts regarding the anomaly. Its very nature and the volatile situation in and around the Ontario system has hindered any more thorough research. Hopefully this is due to change, now that we have more manpower set on the task.
For the time being, I will remain your liaison with Section 8. Any findings, questions, or other matters regarding Planet Sudbury are to be directed at me. Should you have matters to discuss concerning the Ontario system and its inhabitants, feel free to contact our local coordinator, Operative Senator.
Section 8 wishes you the best of luck, Mister Yasu, and looks forward to your reports.
