Morning all, or whichever greeting is perhaps more appropriate when you're reading this.
I played Freelancer, I expect like everyone here, many many years and I recently stumbled upon Discovery. After a bit of hesitation (real life and other games vying for attention) I decided to finally take the plunge.
I'm UK based and slot in what gaming I can although I've got a variety of interests in combination with that fickle mistress real life to contend with. I fell in love with the space genre back when I was fortunate enough to be introduced to it courtesy of my father and his Amiga many years ago.
I'm by no means new to Freelancer although memory of it is a little foggy these days. I've done the obligatory perusal of the rules and as some on the Discord may already know, I've taken my first tentative steps as of the other day/night. Having thoroughly enjoyed the initial wave of nostalgia combined with a new experience I can say that the hook is well and truly sunk. I'm a little unsure as to what direction I'll be taking within Discovery, at least for now, but I'm also aware that the journey is a big part of the fun. I typically lean towards combat so I've no doubt I'll jump down that rabbit hole at time goes on, however, I wanted to introduce myself and say hello.
Sometimes you don't choose your path. Play the game, meet interesting people One interaction shaped my first character for many years to come.
