So your saying that the Rules in Terms of RP are muck akin to Modern art... the more BS you can string together to give it an RP reason the more likely it is to be accepted even if it breaks the rules?

Define BS. I've written my way into an OC Templar and an LWB Wrath, and I get compliments on the latter all the time. I also agree with the first post, but I still view powergaming (I killed him for real! I got your escape pod and am taking you to jail) as ooRP and disgusting.
Oh, and if you want to check those "BS" stories out, click the big picture in my sig.

I honestly don't care how well written your storys are, a rule is a rule.
If you can bypass a rule and become an exception to that rule with a short story then it should not a rule... it should be a suggestion, backed up and enforced by in game Roleplay.
Are you spamming my serious thread?
Are you asking legitimate questions for the purpose of having rule consistency
or are you arguing for the hell of it? Because it sounds like the latter.
Server rules cant be broken. Otherwise sanction. But again the PLAYER
always has that choice to break the rules, and the consequences of that
action is they get sanctioned. You personally cannot tell other people that
their Role play breaks server rules, because that is not up to you.
Role play 'rules' are different. You should try to adhere to your character
at all times when in game or on the forums. However your RP 'rules' are
not the same as other peoples, and things IF backed up with
Roleplay, that may get other people sanctioned for being 'OORP' may
get a pass from the Admins.
THAT CALL IS NOT UP TO YOU Hatred, or any other player here.
If someone writes an elaborate story as to why their Corsair gets to use
Navy guns, It MIGHT BE POSSIBLE that that character can get an ADMIN
pass to use those guns. Usually it will not be allowed by the Admins, but
there is a chance that they might say yes, if the Roleplay is good enough.
This is not being inconsistent with server rules versus Roleplay 'rules'.
It takes research, reading and common sense to find out what is
acceptable roleplay and what is not. For instance Cardimine human
addiction is for life because of the way it affects the DNA of humans. No
human character can break the Cardimine addiction. However nomads do
not get addicted to Cardimine as it was specifically designed for them as a
health benefit. These are two separate roleplay 'rules' that cannot be broken
in good roleplay of the Freelancer universe.
Many people don't bother writing up roleplay backup stories before they go
out and do something and so they get sanctioned, because 'I stoled it! haha'
is not roleplay. However if something controversial in roleplay is
sufficiently backed up by a good back story then it IS POSSIBLE THAT IT
MAY GET A PASS. Why? because that person has roleplayed.
If it does not conflict with server rules (which are pretty clear, and where they
are not, then no member on this forum should try to interpret them - that is
the ADMINS job and ONLY the ADMINS can make that call,) and if it is
backed up by roleplay stories then there is good chance that it will be accepted.

Hatred, Why is that powergaming and 'disgusting'? because that is not legitimate roleplay.
When you roleplay you must give the other person choices. You cannot dictate
what their actions are going to be. And by saying 'I killed you', or 'You are OORP'
you right there step into abuse. Abuse of your presumed relationship with the
other person, and when you do that you lose sight of what roleplay is.
It's like a tennis match. Keep hitting the ball into the other person court.
The objective is to use skill to win, or to make them lose WITHIN THE RULES
OF TENNIS. If you suddenly grab the ball in midair and stab it, then the tennis
game is over. You are not playing the game anymore by tennis rules,
and I might mention that you make an enemy of your opponent.

Legitimatly asking for rules consistancy, because right now, everyone and their mother seems to be trying to impose and enforce their own version of the rules both server-wise and RP. Paying attention to only that which serves them in any given situation and flailing their arms around making threats OOC rather than bothering to RP with their fellow players.

Spending more than 20 minutes in Liberty Space, it would seem that their are not many others whom share your sentiment, as noble as it may be.

Problem is... people need to actually Role play first, which doesn't seem to happen very often. Lots of good stuff on the forums yes, but in game it all amounts to "I don't like your face... BOOM" preceding being berated in OOC by rules power gaming and rules lawyering to justify people being random jackholes.

Never said it was... just pointing out the logical fallibility in arguing that Pirates should not be able to equip anything and everything they pillage, because they happen to be Pirates.

Which leads to favoritism, perceived or real.
As an outsider, coming into Discovery it honestly leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth and a good number of the 10 people I brought with me to join discovery have in little over a week been scared away from the server a very whiny, and immature player base and a suspect and inconsistent admin team.

Your right, instead its a He said she said, who likes who and who can suck up more to get ahead, BS OOC Politics kind of deal, that many RP Community's are suseptable to.

Sure, there are a number of Non-RP'ers that are running around being Jackholes and making a nuisance out of themselves, but there are also a huge amount of RP'ers doing the exact same thing. You cant blame all your problems on a convenient scape goat, the problem goes deeper than simple "Non RP'ers Rabble rabble rabble!"
Discovery has a somewhat fragmented community where you have the old school players and those in the know on one side, and a whole bunch of new people trying to get into the server at each others throats as if somehow by being the biggest, most whiny douchbag to your fellow players will somehow get you ahead socially.
You have a whole lot of new blood vying for approval and recognition, clamoring like crabs in a bucket, clawing each other down.
This thread included.

That doesn't stop people in game from spending more time trying to tell other players what they can and cannot do than actually trying to RP, or even playing the damn game.

Check your quote Kid-o... I never said that, "Zapp" did.
Remember, Comprehension is the most important part of reading.
@ Hatred: Your post made interesting reading and there are a few things I can relate too.
However I beleive Hyung quoted Zapp and then offered you an explantion as to why stated that, and used it as part of his argument towards you, not because he thought you wrote Zapp's comment.
As I said interesting post but this was a patronising finish, with some irony thrown in.

At least that keeps it entertaining, I love irony.
First, the rule says that people have to be in RP, it never defines what RP is for each person. It may very well be that what's in-RP for my LWB with a Wrath would be ooRP for another one.

Again, let me point you to Wesley's story, lots of screenshots in it because I like to RP it out in-game. However, there is a point to be made that the RP restrictions (not server rules) are seen as repressive. I've seen both sides of the case, and the easiest way for everyone to be happy is for the only RP rules - restrictions imposed by players, not admins - to apply only to people that've proven that they're ooRP. Then again, I'm sure some people would still advocate "ZOMG HE HAS A RIGHT TO FLY ANYTHING EVEN IF HE'S AN OORP IDIOT!", so basically, it comes down to the fact that we're human, and in human societies people argue because they have differing views.

Wow. I tip my hat off to you. Kudos.
