Not really but it would help strengthen the trade routes if NPC Gateway dudes had them hanging around them. Actually any trade guild that can have a cruiser/Gunboat for backup would be a fun challenge

Every once in a while a cap proposal comes up with such redicelous claims...

Go buy a battlecruiser (liberty or BH) strap on 8 cerebs and then brace your opponent for a quick jolt of supreme firepower... and retreat to recharge your weapons...

I have had a similar Idea for a while. For now leave it to rest. The others are right in the fact that Liberty currently has a lot of Cap Ships. (even though some of them suck horribly IMHO)... anywho. Umm don't be giving the trading companies anything large like that... The House fleets are suppose to protect them and for the love of Jehosaphat.. hire a bloody escort you stingy monkeys....

On a second note.. would love to see more "independant company ships" GB and bellow. Be nice to diversify for them good old civies, mercs, and Pirates. Corporate competition anyone?...

Liberty has some of the better ships available.

Their battleship/dreadnaught are among the better ones in the mod - with great firing arcs and a good amount of hull compared to the rest, and decent manuverability.

The liberty battlecruiser is a fairly popular ship... probably because it's one of only three battlecruisers in the mod.

The liberty carrier is the only carrier-class ship in the mod that I know of, and is a decent ship - though it has a huge profile.

The liberty cruiser isnt great, but it's definitely not the worst cruiser out there. If you practice enough with the forward gun it can take on larger ships fairly well, and it's got a fairly small profile from most angles - and decent manuverability. There are a lot of cruisers that dont turn half as well as the lib.

And finally the liberty gunboat... probably one of the best gunboats in the mod. Only the kusari and bounty hunter gunships can out-manuver it, and it has more turrets than any other gunboat with the exception of the corsair GB and scorpion GB - and neither of those has a forward gun.

A fun fact is that the Carrier actually has more armour and turret mounts than the Dreadnaught. Same power amount too. Essentially the heavier of the two.

i see. so something like a gatway GB. well it would have to have a nice slim profile, matched with speed, power, and guns. i see a nice ship model coming here

I still fail to see why a trading company needs warships to do civilian activities. Fighter and bomber escorts work fine, it isn't like they'll be up against cruisers or anything. A fighter can distract a GB pretty well, and once the transport is safe they can get out pretty well too. You don't need to be able to kill things as an escort, just distract fire.

GB's helping trader = OK
Cruisers helping traers = it just wouldnt happen unless it was some uber rare object. in a one off occasion.
