I got enormously frustrated trying to finish all of my summer HW (School starts tomorrow) so I took a break and came up with this:
Outcast Destroyer MK II. I tried to make it match the dimensions of the original; unfortunately, my model finisher is unavailable, so this is going to be my scratch ship. It may not make it into the next mod version, I'll be trying to learn how to do everything on my own, but I'll give it my best. Not sure how that'll fly between 101sting and School, though *headdesk*
Please note that this is a VERY simple model at this point; there are still several major structures I need to add, details to inlay and then the whole thing has to be cleaned, so this isn't at all what the finished wireframe will look like.

i like the back, but the front just doesnt cut it. cant you -not- design it as a catamaran (even though your excessive obsession with swords is pretty clear)? it has potential, but i for one, hate the front :/
a catamaran in large - i m not really convinced by that... but mainly i guess cause i don t like catamaran designs. the joint between the engines and the .... sledge/catamaran part looks a bit too thin - other than that, its a solid design that may fit the outcast fleet - but it misses the hexagon shaped structure you have put around the battleship.
leaves the question - why did they build it like that instead of one solid frame.
Like I said, several major structures. I thought about making it a single-hull, but then it becomes large and unpleasant and I can't use the same hitbox. Anyways, the front will be buffed considerably, as will the expansion joint at the midsection (there's supposed to be a hanging wing like on the Sabre and a third connector there).
EDIT: And they built it like that because it was cool:laugh:
No, really, I tried to design this thing to be very modular, so it can be modified easily for a specific mission and manufactured easily. The catamaran is an extension of that; smaller and easier to make than a single large hull, albeit more cramped, and quicker to switch out for a different job.

Perhaps making it a reverse catamaran would work? Have the engines on the end of the minor hulls, and have the large bit at the back be reshaped to be the front?
-Join the two catamaran 'pods' in the center at the top and bottom only, leaving a long, open 'tunnel' down the front of the ship. The current OC dessie serves as a light carrier for the rogues, and losing the carrier feel (i.e. not having a 'launch bay' visible) would be detrimental to that RP I think.
-Strengthen up where the pods join the rear portion at the center, it looks like the thing is held together by toothpicks right now - if you do step #1 it wont e such a problem, as the front and back of the ship will be one solid hull, instead of connected in the middle.
It looks like a cargo ship to me :S
The front looks like 2 barges stuck onto a capital ship body. If you intend to have a hanger entrance in the gap between the 'barges' and the bridge area, have some more structural support.
The back section looks great though, very FL like with the engines and also structurally strong looking.
...no. I am NOT doing all of that again:P3ds Max isn't good at just warping parts of a ship and stretching/repositioning them like that; it's good for doing tiny details and immaculate precision, but it's slow in that each point needs to be adjusted individually, and once you have your basis it's pretty hard to modify it. Faster, really, to just start over.
I might, if demand is high enough, try a catamaran-style engine. I wish I'd thought of that, I actually like that idea more than what I've got...unfortunately, since it's a replace, it could be difficult to remove any of the engine HPs.
On second thought, maybe if I did it like the Liberty Cruiser, where it's got four engines strapped to one relatively small point? Pairing that up could work, if I Outcastify it. I'll try that tomorrow after I get home from school.
EDIT: And yeah, there's gonna be a hangar (albeit a smaller one) and, like I said, I'll be adding more supports to the front of the cats. Again, they won't merge, it's not practical.
