Transmissions Intercepted from the Battlecruiser Yamato during the Battle for Honshu-Chugoku
-------------------------------------------
Receiver: All units in range, friendly or hostile
Sender: DISTRESS SIGNAL [ Admiral Yamato, Shouri Kaigun (Yakuza 1st Fleet) Command ]
This is the Yakuza Shouri Kaigun Flagship, Battlecruiser Yamato, hailing from the Honshu system. Requesting immediate back up to the Honshu system. Transmitting coordinates to first and second fleets as well as any auxiliary units within range.
We have been engaged by inflated numbers of Kusari Naval Forces and there appear to be WA tagged ships amongst the enemies (OOC: There were not, and no disrespect meant, but I thought it would be fitting to the RP to add this). Three full Kusari battle fleets appear to be converging on the Honshu system for a full frontal assault against Chugoku, though our intelligence has no reports of Kusari troop movements towards other jump holes. Regardless, it is probable that similar numbers have assembled to attack with a flanking strategy.
The ship has sustained heavy damage to rear and broadside sections. Fire has rendered left main engines and left cruise engines inoperable. Those sections have been sealed off by our engineers and our warrant officers are taking a crew tally. Hull integrity is still holding and not yet critical but shields generators are down and shield batteries have been depleted. Full complement of nanobots prepped for deployment.

Yakuza Fleet Command, this is bridge of the Battlecruiser Yamato. 9yhzzfy03?7424datacorruption24_350ssszhs I repeat, this is the Battlecruiser Yamato requesting immediate assistance. Primary communications tower has been disabled but secondary systems used for communications and commands within the shipare still functional and have been rerouted to broadcast on a distress frequency. We have lost access to the entire rear section of the ship due to fires and all the crew in those sections.

We are still requesting backup units to this location. Two Blood Dragon fighters have arrived on scene as well as the Missile Weapons Gunboat, Kotaka. The other two Shi Kotaka gunboats have responded and are en route. ETA in 08 minutes. Our reinforcements have engaged an enemy forward fighter wing.
So far, 34 known casualties have been identified, with 65 still unidentified and 63 crew members unaccounted for. 40bnx?∂yhf9--)y4? Only 138 crew are still in fighting shape, including medics, technicians, and officers. Half of our gunners are now considered casualties and rear guns are unoperational. 3 of 4 Order Turrets are still in commission but are at risk of overheating. Both Corsair Light Battleship Turrets have been destroyed. 1 of 2 Missile Turrets are still in operatio42390xhzkhf9--1244>ff
Verified kills are two Kusari battleships and 3 destroyers. The enemy Chimaeras seem to be dealing heavy damage, especially with both corsair turrets inoperable.
HOLY ****!
Mayday, we have been struck by a barrage of missiles. I repeat, missile damage. Seal off sections A3-5, B2-6 and 8, and vent all airlocks. Dispatch all firecrews to the E wing.
This is the Bridge, a second barrage is on trajectory for impact to front of ship. MEN, BRACE FOR IMPACT!
Crewmembers, this is Admiral Yamato speaking. The last missile barrage has directly penetrated the hull near the bridge, taking half of my officers with it. Sections have been sealed but our fate looks grim.
But men, this not a time to give up. Did Mr. Lee give up against hordes of hostiles? No. Did our ancestor, Yakasugni, give up against the enemy? No. Then why should we give up?! The fate of the Blood Dragons and the Yakuza depend upon us. We shall not let them down.
I say fight, soldiers. Fight. Fight until every gun gives out. And when it does, enter the marine pods and take the fight to the enemy's own ships. As long as we fight, our people will never die. We will go down in history as the courageous in the greatest battle Kusari has ever seen. We shall go a----

This is the bridge of the Battlecruiser Yamato, Kusari 1st Fleet, Shouri Kaigun. We, the remaining officers, are submitting this message as a final report to Yakuza Fleet Command. Also transmitted with this message is the video feeds and logs of various crew members so that you may review these records.
Our identification transponder has been destroyed by what appears to be several simultaneous nuclear detonations but we will keep fighting for as long as we can. Hull integrity is now critical and all nanobots have been expended, even ones salvaged from enemy craft.
This front is lost and it is our sincere regret that we could not have defended Chugoku better. Communications within the ship has broken down and the two remaining Order guns are firing erratically. The Kusari ships are now surrounding us at their leisure for we are sitting ducks. Our last engine has also broken down and we are locked in a circular trajectory.
As a last resort, we intend to detonate our entire hold of H-fuels and ammunitions at once, enveloping this system in one enormous nova. We have lured the enemy into the plentiful gas clouds, which will ignite and incinerate the Kusari scum. Our seppuku.
We have 12 crew members (3 officers, 2 medics, 3 firefighters, 4 technicians and engineers) accounted for here in the bridge and have reason to believe at least 4 gunners are still active. Of the 12, 8 are injured, 3 with critical wounds. Although Admiral Yamato's body has not been recovered, it is possible it was lost when sections were sealed and he is considered to be deceased.
We will stay for a few more minutes to transmit this message before we initiate the final self-destruct sequence.
The gas clouds in Honshu are now a desolate place, full of debris and undetonated munitions. An occasional train flies through the area, its pilot uneasily making haste for the nearest trade lane. Small pieces of shrapnel bounce harmlessly off the cockpit with a metallic ping, sending shivers down the pilot's neck. Damaged weaponry lay scattered about the cloud, but the pilot pauses only momentarily to tractor up the materiel. The pilot glances briefly at his scanner screen, unaware that he has just pulled an unidentified object into his hold. Unnerved by the eerie battlefield, the pilot boosts the cruise engines of his beloved transport, the Monarch, and enters the charred ring.
The Battle for the Honshu-Chugoku jumpgate was a victory for the Kusari, but also a strategic loss for them. The Yakuza lost a cruiser, three gunboat, and six fighters whereas the Kusari fleet sustained official losses of two battleships, four destroyers, five gunboats, and three squadrons of fighters. Actual figures are likely to be much higher.
Elsewhere, the Yakuza fought with equal courage, eventually repelling the Kusari invaders thanks to the bottleneck effect of jump holes. The defense was a costly one for the Yakuza and their Blood Dragon allies as well, but in the end, Chugoku remained Blood Dragon territory.
The Kusari fleet did not amass another fleet for what would have been a certain victory, much due to a Bretonian invasion fleet that forced Kusari commanders to divert many of their forces to the Bretonian-Liberty front.
Left without leadership, the Yakuza clan suffered a crippling crisis, slowly dissolving into a coalition of friends but lacking of the centralized order of that characterized the previous command.
In Sector E3, a Yakuza propaganda buoy still functions, somehow surviving the onslaught of nova mines and missiles. It acts on its programming, repeating the same messages as in the Ultimate Guide to Yakuza and its subliminal messages.
Rumour has it that Admiral Yamato did in fact survive the battle and is stuck somewhere on a Kusari planet without a ship. If this is true, then Yakuza will not be broken for long...
OOC: This is the end of the Yakuza clan, UNLESS someone wants to step up and assume leadership (the RP is perfect *hint*) :D Alas, Nakazawa and I both are suffering under heavy amounts of school work (I have 5 AP and 1 Honors course :shok: ) so we won't be playing much except on weekends and spring/winter break... If no one steps up to the glorious role, then await Yamato and Nakazawa's return next summer, when they will have accumulated the means to escape vile Kusari lands and return their beloved Kyoto Base, in the mysterious system of Chugoku.
Returning with a Vengeance June 2007 Sirius Universal Time.
We are coming.
