We will remember - We do not Forget - We do not Forgive
Chipz, i am not bashing the LN as a faction. There are several LN that I consider friends and will support however I am permitted. My issue is with a select few that stepped out of their role of LN.
Just note that the [LN] are not responsible for the RP of the LNS, since they are not part of the [LN].
We [LN] try to guide the LNS, but they're not really in our faction, so they still do as the want, which isn't necessarily a good thing. So, kindly stop bashing the [LN] for something the LNS does.

Its like making blind people to run trough forest with a lot of trees...and downhill. Good luck.
I buy things I don't want to make an impression on people I don't like.

Yes, there are lots of indies, and quite a few that don't know much, or RP or anything. But without the [LN]- sign in front of their name, they are not part of the Liberty Navy.
Why don't you become a member and see what it's like..?
In fact, actually don't..really, not now.
Sorry, since this followed my post I thought it was directed towards me.
My bad.
In response to my gripes about the LN, everyone kept telling me to join the faction and see what it's like, and how hard it was to be in there.
I decided to bypass the red tape and made a Navy indy in an Avenger instead. Lt..Victor.Ortega. Maybe you've seen me.
I play an Advance Recon & Surveillance Pilot, so I'm more apt to communicate for the sake of intel gathering and minor diplomacy, than to "Engaging criminal" upon seeing a red IFF and run in guns blazing.
I'm acting out my vision of a Navy pilot, more concerned with external threats such as the Order and Nomads and possible Rheinland belligerents than internal threats like Rogues and Xenos, which are more the domain of the LPI in my opinion. Not that I don't engage Rogues, Hackers and Xenos, but they have to be actively performing criminal acts rather than simply being on my radar. Enough unlawfuls oblige me by attacking on sight, so many that I'm rarely short of work. Definitely a choice alignment if you like good RP opportunity with lots of action.
The other reason I went indy rather than faction was because this way I get some distance from the faction pilots. While my actions don't shine on them, theirs don't necessarily shine on me either. I also get to play my version of what I think a Navy pilot should be without having to adapt to a particular mould. Finally, I figure if I'm any good at my role, recognition as a legitimate pilot of the Liberty Navy will come in due time anyway.
So far it actually hasn't been bad. I roleplayed with an LR pilot (favorably), flew around space and looked for smugglers, and I've actually had to step out of fights because they got one-sided and I wasn't needed. When I called for backup because I was faced with a gunboat, [LN] and a pile of bored capwhore indys showed up in overwhelming numbers within a minute.
Is there some handicap to playing the faction I don't know about, or am I just jaded from constantly fighting multiple targets on my own? I'd imagine you get many private messages from whining traders and hate tells from gang-molested pirates and such, with the conspicuous [LN] tag and all... but anything else?
I had an interesting experience today. And one that I wasn't going to put on the forums because I didn't think doing so would do any good. However here it is anyway, good or bad I'm gunna tell you.
This is only vaguely related, however I will attempt to pull it round to some form of relevance.
This morning I had some excellent RP on my [LN] char. Admittedly it may have been a bit confusing for some of the newer LN members (sorry fergus), but it was none the less excellent RP, and many many people there did an excellent job.
In stark contrast to that, this evening I flew into NY with a wing of three Xeno bombers. We roleplayed for all of about 8 seconds before being greeted by... (now this is astonishing) 2 Liberty assualt cruisers, a BH GS and about 12 fighters. All bearing down on three Xenos. None of the people involved respoded to our roleplay, not one said a word to us infact. The only piece of very scant RP was a battlecruiser, as we were about to destroy it (Nice work XA-Falcon and Black.Nova|X on doing that) saying "disengaging".
We took him out and then proceeded to all die, rather quickly. Again without a word from the people attacking us.
Now. Not a single person in that fight was a member of =LSF=, [LN] or LPI. LIberty is at the moment the home of overkil, and it is -not- the fault of the lawful factions who operate there (thats was the relevant bit). It is highly frustrating for those of us who try to operate there. There is little point RPing in other areas of liberty as people are even more silent (although less likely to jump on you with battlecruisers).
I am stuck on this. NY seems to have a split personality at the moment, switching from incredibly awesome, to utter rubbish in the space of a few hours. Many new members I would be getting seem put off by the fact that you try to do anything and just get killed, by an enemy you can do little to counter.
It is highly frustrating... and now I have vented that I feel much better.
Yeah, it was good RP. And was confusing as i logged on without seeing all your previous RP, only to engage a xeno, then for you to shoot at me. But, i realised what was going on, and stated your infected and to engage and whatnot..So yeah, some good RP there.
And yes, indie caps are becoming a large problem in liberty. Mainly because they have no idea what they're doing or how to RP.
//Oh and Jihad, did you have to put that RP phase in at this very time, with all the other LN problems going on:Pheh..adds to the messy fray and "corruption" which we have already
I can't really criticise [LN]'s RP. I've never seen them outside Connecticut.
But sheesh, the rest of the Liberty Navy (with VERY notable exceptions who say one or more RP word per day) is just rediculous. They never try and 'arrest' my criminal characters like they IRP should (IE tell me to stand down and submit or such), they just pew pew.
[LN] might be a much better faction if they left Connecticut once in awhile, but I can understand why they go there. Thanks to the overkilling indies, there aren't any pirates left for [LN] to try and roleplay with.
I once had an LN indie. The reasons for deleting him were twofold: There was no RP to be had on the Lawful side of Liberty, and an 'indie' Navy pilot is an oxymoronic term.
