Hi, so in an effort to affiliate my "trader" with trader ID, (the trader ID something i think shouldn exist, but not important), I looked at my closest green rep (i made my trader neutral with everyone, so it was a little messed up) was Junkers, i thought this a nice RP, a grimey junker working his ass off for cash, i can do that. Now, i dont intend to use this to pirate, smuggle or do anything illegal, so i go about my normal trading, sometimes supplying through the omega/omicrons, freeports and such (though, i sometimes buy diamonds from the hessians if not bornholme).
but heres a problem, in these lovely systems is a lot of strange chaps, I think they call themselves Bounty hunter Battlecruisers, now i dont have trouble in the house systems, S/D for example operate in cambridge a lot and ive never even heared a word from them. now on two seperate occasions ive recieved a cruise distrupt attempt, first one failed, and the battlecruiser said "i dont kill traders anyway", after which i informed him "you cant kill traders anyway, if ive no illegal goods." this taking place in omega 15, a fairly important system for junkers, a home of sorts outside a guard system.
A second time i recieved a distrupter from from a battlecruiser in omega 47, i was delivering water(seriously) to the thirsty people there, likely to buy diamonds and take to leeds. i informed him that he cant shoot me, but he was adamant that he had every right to kill a "pirate clan member", maybe i'd give him the benefit of the doubt, if he was in atleast a fighter/bomber, but no, a battlecruiser.
in short, can these sods shoot me hauling legal goods in a battlecruiser or anything? and why. because I figured a junker was a case-by-case basis, maybe like gaians, some might demonstrate, some might start shooting people, you cant kill the first on sight, but the second you can.
either way, i would be more comfortable with the info on hand.
Junkers are not really pirates and noone from lawfulls have any right to shoot on you (if you have legal goods that is), no more right than to shoot trader... that guy was most likely "U red me kill u" ... Stupid/uninformed ppls are everywhere but other than that, noone should shoot on you...
I buy things I don't want to make an impression on people I don't like.
Also--if you carry a Trader ID it governs your restrictions and behavior and that of others towards you. You can use the Junker reputation for "flavor" and even keep the Junker enemies and all if you want but you are a "trader".
People can act rude as a consequence but can't outright kill you.
You have discovered the bounty hunter problem. Ah welcome to the club. No wait you can't be a member yet becuase they didn't blow you up. Come back when your ship is vaporized for being a Junker then you can join :P
Yeah, i noticed the problem, i dont mind having enemies, its perfectly fine with me, but its entirely within RP to just trade, the second sod was all " maybe you got caught in the crossfire" "It dont look like water to me!", which is cool in RP, but in a battlecruiser is a bit much.

The thing is BHs are not an official enemy of the Junkers. There are missions to kill them on our bases but there are also missions to kill corsairs on our bases. It just the generic bounty hunters need something to do with thier battle cruisers so they attack whatever is red.
I have not personaly had any problems with BHs in factions. I guess their leaders explain these things to them.
Isn't there a rule that states who can and cannot attack tradeships? (Pirates nameley) Well in any case I know the problem.
There should be more rules that also count in your other equipment. Say a neutral merc id'd Sabre with some krakens flys past your Corsair... You might feel obligated to engage.
But a Junker in a fancy advanced train flys past your BC, you really don't want to engage, you point out that he got ripped off on his new IFF he bought from Junkers.
//BHG is clearly listed as an enemy of Junkers under faction descriptions so perhaps they're just playing "by the book". It's a hard subject, but really mostly just capwhore BH's will attack your trading Junker.
Edit: I read here that they are not enemies... hmm i'll have to check that.
There needs to be some kind of reason for one to attack another, is it for profit? Then he's pirating you, something not allowed, Is he collecting a bounty? That's what the BH's do, perfectly legal, but who would place a bounty on a Junker trader?
I'm trying to think of any good reason for a BH to attack a Junker, sadly I don't see any. He could attack you for trasspassing their guard system, or sneaking around their base,...

Yeah BH should not shoot Junkers on sight. If they have a bounty on their head go for it. But I think people get these cap ships and then find there is not much to do with them so they shoot at whatever is red. There really needs to be more for the BH caps to do. I guess we need more Order players for them to fight.
Overall I think its silly for a BH to even have a cap ship and I think it should be removed.
you have just described Jane's way of "smuggling".
She flies under a smuggler id, because beside trading she actively supplies criminal bases but only with legal goods.
Still you can get into trouble with BHs, mostly with the indies.
Try to RP/convince them but sometimes you suck space before you could open a comm channel... :-(
