I only ever fly fighters and freighters so I guess Id have to say one on one fighter combat is my favorite style.
As for excelling at one form or another; I excel at getting spaced first in group engagements.
I do plan on getting something larger at some point, but I dont expect my preference to change.
Same here.. I have enough money for a gunboat, but I love my fighter so much(although it can't hurt caps without help from the other vipers).
I would like to get a gunboat sometime but I too think I'll stick with the fighter..Partly because I liked FL in the first place for the dogfights.

VHFs: Viper, standard lvl 9 weaponery + debs + TCD + nuke mine. I am(was) not bad in 1v1, tad worse in group fights. (Once I was a part of a victory 5v15 VHF battle though).
Bombers: Dont(didnt) fly them much. One was a Xeno preggie, in which I was okay but flew it only here and there, the other one was a sudicide double-nova + 4 debs GMG taidan... I made quite a few kamikazes into either Alpha and Gamma. Was fun:)
GBs: I love the IMG GB, especially against fighters, I only used standard IMG turrets, no cerbs, no missiles, but I was able to keep 3 sabres and 1 falcata off my back for pretty long time.
Fighter are fun (LF whore) but nothing beats how simple and fast cap on cap battles are. They don't leave you with bad hands and it still takes quite a bit of skill when fighting a different cap commander that knows what they are doing.
Quick and decisive, beautiful.
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
I prefer using a bomber (usually my Falcata) to fight but don't be surprised if you see me zooming around in my Nomad light fighter (not to be confused with a glass vase).
Bombers are probably the most versatile ship category in the mod and that's why I use them. They are great for:
A. Taking down capital ships
B. Taking down fighters (depending on the ship)
C. Fending off multiple attackers (depending on the skill of the bomber pilot)
D. Pirating
E. Switching roles from anti cap to anti fighter/bomber (depending on pilot skill)
F. Holding out in a fight because of increased armor
Those are the main reasons why I use bombers the most, although it is fun to use other ships every now and then.
