I really dont care about 'showmanship'. I'm a jerk, and will readily admit it.
See, I dont like all these noobs coming to the server, getting a loan from someone when they dont deserve it, jumping in an advanced train the second they have the cash, and then running OORP routes like the diamond/niobium run and slave/cardamine (through alaska) run, just so they can come back later with a bounty hunter battlecruiser and pvp whore.
That's exactly how all of these powertraders end up. The only way to stop it is to stop them from using the routes they're on, and a supernova to the face every time they come through a system they shouldnt be in conveys the point pretty well.

Man Im so glad I dont power trade given I do use that route. But I at least RP when they want money.
I have one route and one route only.....helps avoid the pirates. Of course I'm not going to tell anyone because I'd rather not have a billion pirates on my route:P
Also I agree with tenacity on the whole "stopping powertraders". He should start a campaign for it....I'd help out with it:D

Not at all. I charge 5 million everytime I see a trader pass within 15 kilometers of Ainu. First, the GC don't want the police to know the location of their base. Second, the power traders make enough money as is, they can afford 5 million every 3-4 hours. Third, they can go to New Tokyo and sell their stuff, or take a different route to Kyushu. There is nothing that says they have to use a certain route, they just want to make money, so I'm just going to make money off of them, or they die and they make nothing.
I stopped doing the sig13 route ages ago, simply because of the crazy pirate problem. I didn't winge about it, instead I found another route, very profitable, minimum fuss. Ok, the Nomads can be troublesome, but apart from that I have no worries. The Liberties couldn't catch a cold, Bretonias ignore me mostly and Corsairs sometimes help me along the way! The route is brilliant!

"Good news everyone. I suddenly and unexpectedly have job vacancies for an entire spaceship crew!"
Please trade through Sigma 13. I "promise" the Harvesters will take good care of you. We will tax you fair and send you on your way or we will harvest you fair again and again till you feel like paying. Be nice to the power traders. With out them I can't power pirate.
Well, in my BD character I just send them through Honshu.
I don't like the attacks on powertrading though, because most traders aren't in it to rp a trader, they are in it to make cash to outfit another ship, whether it be a BHBC or a markVIII for their gunboat, and it is the best traderoute in he game. Everyone got their credits somewhere and if traded some other route and made less money and took more time to buy whatever it is you are flying now that's your fault. You can't blame another guy for trying to cut a few hours off the trading.
If it was only about RP, then a fully loaded dreadnaught would cost the same as a starflea.
I still have an adv. train on NB, and when I start a new character I wait till no one is around and make a few mill really quick to get him started.

Thats funny Tenacity. I have been making that run for ages. Like 3 or 4 times a week. And according to your idea I should be flying a bounty Hunter battleCruiser and pvp whoring everyone in a pirate craft by now. Oh wait what? I don't even have one. Not all powertraders are after a BHBC.... Hell not all of them are even after a Cap ship..
BTW can some explain to me how the Diamond Niobium run is OORP? I understand its the most profitable route and that makes some people jealous and stuff. but ok someone show me where the RP says its OORP.
First of all No one can say that no lawfuls know about Hokkaido or Chugoku.. Both have GATE sites.. if you are trying to say that no one smuggles banned goods by the unlawfuls in their own territory.. well your wrong again. Happens all the time. if your trying to say that Adv. Train Captains would never take jump holes.. That is not true. The route is motivated by greed. If they wanted to be safe then they would take the long way. They want to make money and so they are going to take dangerous short cuts through less then hospitable locations. That means running into pirates. Who always flock to the most juicy and profitable routes.

Chugoku has no gate site. Hokkaido is connected directly to kusari space, so it's fine - but nobody other than blood dragons, GC, and KNF should ever be in chugoku.
Lawful traders might be greedy, but their concern is their cargo and the lives of their crew. No lawful trader should ever be taking a jump hole unless the destination is a lawful system that has no jump gates (i.e. omega 49 / gran canaria). Jump holes are dangerous, unstable, and in-RP any large craft would be taking a very, very big risk by going through one. Orillion states this in the singleplayer campaign - he hates taking the osiris through jump holes, but it's occasionally necessary when they arent able to use the jump drive.
Further, chugoku and hokkaido are both full to the brim with hostile pirates who would love nothing more than to blow your ship up and take your cargo for themselves. A transport captain would have to be insane to go right into a nest of hostiles just to cut a few minutes off his trade route - that's called powertrading, and it's not in the interests of RP.
If you want to trade diamonds and niobium, do it through the sigma 13 -> honshu jump gate, not through chugoku/hokkaido. Until the powertraders start figuring that out, I (and others) will continue overtaxing them.

I do this trip often. Not because it's very profitable but because there are almost no lanes, so it allows me to do other things in windows most of the time while switching to FL only in order to select jh and engage autopilot. So called F2ing.
