Well, what about when it's posted without permission? For instance, I have some PM's from one admin that are official, not truly private in that they address a forum issue rather than a personal chat, and one that I have no desire to hide.
Why am I forbidden to post that without permission since admins allow private server chat to posted without permission that is just as private and just as topical or not?
For instance if it was an in game private chat with the exact same content why would that be alright?
Simple answer it wouldn't. Had you had that conversation on the server you'd still not be able to post it without permission. Some things remain private for a reason often not because there is a desire to hide ones actions, but in order not to upset those who need not be upset.

Can you clarify that? Especially that little "not to upset those who need not be upset" part, because I am not following.
So you are saying private server chat is not to be posted as well? If so why do admins allow it?

Well, Akumb, there is a reason why they are called Private Messages. If the Admin(or anybody else, for that matter) decided to send you a message via PM, there is a reason why it was not posted on the forums. There is no such thing as "not truly private."
It makes as much sense as a reporter interviewing someone. It would be a breach of privacy if the reporter were to ask the person questions, then quote the person without letting them know that they were being quoted.
Silence does not imply consent. Just because you don't ask the person for something does not mean you can do it.
In the case above, and in the mentioned case with the Skype messages, a conversation was initiated, but the majority of the present party was unaware of the fact that it would be exposed to public view.
Again, it has nothing to do with the ingame chat or Skype.
You're categorizing this incorrectly...again. Get out of this pattern of categorizing chats by the medium that they go through. It is the content of the chat, not the client. Should the same conversation at hand have been conducted through ingame chat, it would have still been a breach of privacy to post it on the forums.
Use your common sense. When it is roleplay or banter during ingame private chat or Skype, usually it is fine to post online. But when it is clearly something that you should not post online, don't.
I do acknowledge the fact that there are serious deviations within the amount of common sense that people have.
As a result, if there was no agreement from all parties involved, the disagreeing parties can simply request to the admins to have the chat removed. In this case, the disagreeing party was the admins themselves, and thus they removed the message. Had the other party possessed the common sense to ask the admins if they could post the conversation on the internet, this would have never happened.

Poor choice of words at this time of the morning. Simple fact is some things are said in Private messages that would not be said were it known that those messages might be made public, for example a better choice of words. Same with Skype, same with in game chat. Ask first.

So again, why is it OK to post private chat from the server on the forums without permission, when all the same factors apply? If it's not OK is it sanctionable if the other party doesn't want it posted and the person posting it refused to pull it? I know this isn't sanctioned even when admins are aware of it.
Are PM messages applied the same way? Can i post them without permission and not be sanctioned for it?
It's not okay and will get deleted just as quickly as other mediums. Ask first. This conversation is going in circles. And do not paraphase a PM to make a point. Those mesages are private and you will be punished for posting PMs without permission, it has happened before and will again. Locked.
