*deleted post, pointless, and a step backward from Jinx' squashed Lib. Dread to replace,
(in that it doesnt fit the Vanilla FL theme)*

you re late, it ll be replaced by that

the model you found on turbosquid is nice - but it would have too many polygons anyway and it has modelled turrets - something freelancer ships do not have, cause the turrets are added as weapons to the bare hardpoints.

Firstly it isn't in any style resembling FL, unfortunately. The model is very well designed, and quite beautiful. Its high polygon count is an issue though.

Its easy to say reduce on paper, but when you actually need to do the work its much harder. Assuming that model was done via sub-d modelling, and then exported to .lwo we would have a hell of a time doing it. However if that is the original scene we would likely have an easier time, using Lightwave to do it if we could.

But alas! another issue! licensing, when you purchase a model on Turbosquid there are licensing issues, what you can and cannot do with the model. How many times you can employ it, and the big one, whether or not you can alter or redistribute the mesh.

Just some things to be aware of.

well - basicly what a battlecruiser is... isn t it? - a poor mans battleship. - anyway, we already balanced it for 4.85 and it does quite well. it has its place in the mod. the liberty BC is balanced like a battleship sort of - with multiple arcs.

in contrast to the BHG battlecruiser, which can fire all its turrets forwards - but has weaker spots in the back.

.................. no.

you have missed the point of a capital ship in doing that to ANY of them...

the person(s) who built a Cap. Ship with turret rotation that cant 360
would be sentenced to death for such idiocy.

*edit: then brought back to life to clean up the mess.

Don't worry Dei Sol. All shipbuilders, which built battleships in the early til middle 20th century are already dead.

While im thinking about it...

the model available for 35$ off turbo squid is 40k polygons, and has modeled turrets...

cut them all off, and that would cut away a good number of polygons there, then, simplify the surfaces to get it down to around 4000 polygons, and even though I was mistaken in that the ugly ship i was thinking of wasnt already getting replaced, you could then use it to improve *a different* ugly ship with a well refined piece of art.

You could make that ship yourself within a week or so if you worked at it. For free. I always wonder at the amount of money some people charge for easy to make models..
