Well..Yeah, but when a few dozen people start using a function like this at the same time...i mean we already treat the server like a friend with a very bad disease that makes it black our every few minutes...
well I dont pirate, but if I did I'd set it up like so:
/setmsg 1 Cut your engines, try to run and I'll gun you down before you can blink
/setmsg 2 Now, you know the drill, hand over 2 million credits or drop all your cargo
then in system chat, type:
"target name"
/1
/2
So if you were the target, it'd look like:
Tenacity: Linkero
Tenacity: Cut your engines, try to run and I'll gun you down before you can blink
Tenacity: Now, you know the drill, hand over 2 million credits or drop all your cargo
Not meaning to give out secrets.....but they are stored in seperate files.....for example, per character/account id
Edit:

That is completly correct. I have about 3 setup for my pirate character and maybe 2 for my trader. They are all seperate so if, for instance, you were on your trader and typed /1 you would get an error because the message was set to you pirate

I don't even have 2mil ..... i have roughly 3 mil if you put together all of my char funds
EDIT: Oi, you changed the target name >.>
But yeah, the idea is nice, just still have no idea if the text is sent to the server to be stored or is it stored on your own pc heh
Freelancer is one of the easiest games to alt tab out of. If your processor cant handle notepad and freelancer at the same time you dont deserve to live.

its not so much that as all the NPC's or players that could blow you up while you're tabbed out.
and @sindroms, yes, eject yourself, I can probably sell you to the corsairs for a few credits as food.

You alt-tab while trying to fine a smuggler, and see how well that goes for you.
