If you ask me, each race has his ( or her ) thing.
Sisters of battle : Pious zealots. They give you a propper thirll in a huge and hard ass fight.
Da waaagh : Just damned fun. Idiots all of them, but a good laugh.
Space Marines : Classic. Figthing for not just the Emperor but the Imperium too.
Imperial Guard : Your sterotypical army.
Eldar : Quick and stealthy. For the elve lovers.
Dark Eldar : Mean old hounds. Killing's litteraly "for the lulz".
Chaos : Pure evil. Figthing piously for their gods and cause. (Personal favorite)
Necrons : Your everyday Slow-but-deadly badasses.
T'au : Hyper advanced with a Japanese touch.
Those are the points that shine out in my opinion. And what gives each race it's own unique thing.
So anyone pick this one up yet?
I have, and love the direction it's taken.
While single player plays more like an RPG, the multiplayer is absolutely amazing.
They use Steam for updates and game verification, but use Games for Windows LIVE for matchmaking. Meaning you need both to run the game. It's annoying, though, because before a patch can be implemented, it needs to be given the OK from Microsoft.
Other then that, though, it's amazing.
If anyone wants to play some ranked 3v3 with me, add my LIVE tag

I found the SP campaign to be amazing, and the co op campaign as well, but as for the multiplayer, I think I haven't seen such a disappointment in a game in the last 10 years...

Really? Well why do you dislike it so much?
Honestly, I can't get enough of it.
Other RTS games are just such garbage to play online that I don't bother with them much past the storyline (Starcraft, C&C, etc)
With DoW2, I'm constantly in the action, good games can go back and forth with some truly epic moments. I mean, I remember one game I played where I held off three enemy dreadnoughts (With the dark age upgrade, giving more health/armor) with a plasma dev squad and my force commander with a powerfist. There's another game where I had held the top portion of the map (including two power nodes, 3 requisition nodes and a victory point) so finally all three of my opponents came to root me out, leaving the rest of the map undefended. My allies went in and took everything. We still ended up losing that game, but my single army did some seriously massive damage to all three of theirs, and I got the Champion title for the game.
(Champion is pretty much MvP)
It offers too little variety in MP, all the tactics in the game are pretty much, go to that spot, take cover, and throw an occasional grenade or whatnot in the direction of the enemy. It's fun and all, but if the game actually had the old base building aspect, it would be a lot more fun, this way it's just...dull. Even with the constant action its boring:P
Well, to each their own, I suppose.
Sure, Relic has lost a few fans due to the removal of base-building, but if they want that they can go play that other game with space marines in it.:P
I, and many others, still believe the changes are for the best. A game can change so much due to different leaders being used, or different variations of wargear.
Besides, basebuilding was always so linear and boring.. It all eventually came down to the exact same build order every game or you got screwed.
