What do you guys think of the Kusari Cruise Liner as a transport ship for trade? (say in $5 - 30 million bracket)
I thought it looked quite nice but I am after soemthing that can also fight as a gun platform. This ship looks better than the Trains and other transports but I think it is too big a target! From above, below and behind it presents a bigger target than a train....
BUT it does have 7 turrets !
Anyone know where the turret emplacements for the Kuari Cruise Liner are?
(posted here cos im a bit worried if I post it elsewhere on the forums people might worry i am asking too easy questions ><)
(btw i think the nicest tradng vessel is the luxury liner...)
I kinda think its a missuse of the ship when i see a Luxury liner cruising around with 4000 tonnes of Beryllium or whatever, its a cruise liner? decked out as a thing for rich people to shmooze on, its even designed to look pretty.... i dunno, it is a tough ship and carries lots of turrets..... but...
well thats why i am not so keen on even the luxury liner as a trade ship -- it is probably hard to maneuver anyway and quick and clean docking is needed for fast trading.
it doesnt look like the kusari luxury liner is a good choice either --too big a target and hard to maneuver
Oh, I heartily disagree. I find the beetle to be highly maneuverable. It has one unique trait which makes it a formidable platform.
It also has one bad trait, a rather weak fire arc beneath. One turret was added recently on the ventral hull, but it still is a rather blind spot.
as to hardpoints, i believe 1 and 2 are center dorsal (top) and have 360 arcs. 3 and 4 are left and right foreward wingtips (180 or less arc forward), 5 and 6 are the aft wingtips (180 aft), and 7 is the aforementioned addition firing downwards and 360,
I use it for the regular passenger run to the Pineal Spa and Ranch at Shasta (actually Nago), and the return delivery of genuine Baffin Scrubbies to Liberty.
The Ku Liner can speed-dock a lane or gate better than almost any other transport, with the possible exception of the GMG Miner.

Get a Drone, or something similar, cruise linners should be used for passengers, vips, perhaps prisoners, slaves... but really live cargo...

I think it's a terrible shame that the Dominion Attack Ship has become a cruise liner. I think it would make a better gunship or something. Personally, as a Freelancer (considering joining Orbital) I roleplay it this way to compromise:
I run thrill-seekers on "pirate safari": Upper-middle class (or VIP's) who will never take part in a dogfight themselves get to experience one in the relative safety of a liner armed to the teeth and strengthened with Class VII armor enhancement. I don't fight Nomads, just Rogues or Hessians mostly, and only a few at a time -- no storming the pirate base (you don't get repeat customers or word-of-mouth business from space-sicles!). Passengers watch the show from one of our many lounges with panoramic views. Then I drop them off where they paid to go, with a story to tell and memories to savor.
Of course I require full insurance on all passengers (we supply for a reasonable fee -- up front -- if you don't have it). And I stay away from dangerous sectors and wormholes... you never know who will greet you on the other side.
This may be over the top, or a poor justification. I'm kind of new to all this. But this ship is awesome!
In the $5-30 mill bracket...what's wrong with a house transport? Hell, in 2 days, I managed to make nearly 100mill in a Percheron. I think it would look much cooler if more people flew house transports...and there's always things like the Firefly at the 30-40mill level if you really need bigger cargo.
PS: (don't read this if you're a pirate) It also seems that pirates tend to be more lenient on cargo spaces under 3k...well, I've had their demands reduced on me a few times...
Edit: Imagining a cruise liner or even a Bretonian Royal liner full of slaves...
