Do they have some kind of super server to run all that graphical stuff? I just looked at the battleship proper flak turrets in action. Looks scary for fighters.
graphic is control by your computer..thats why you can adjust them....so super awsome graphic wont lag the server...and the flak turret i dont know.

Awesome.
yes.....Battleship with full missile......weeeeeeeeeeeeee.....awsome graphic......awsome explosion...ultra anti-gunboat weapon...
While I like their flak and missile effects I don't like those beams at all. Continuous large beams coming from invisible things on mooring fixture?
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
You can change your canstant effects on your own. Go in to you effect_type.ini and you can change all kind of LOD and draw settings. The graphics on FL is limited to whats in those settings. Theres a few tutorials out there that will show you wat to do.

' Wrote:Well I have nothing against Flakk 88 itself... but I dislike a bit how a lot of people get just cought by the eye-candy and call everything awesome.
One important difference here is that Disco is supposed to keep vanilla freelancer combat style, while Flakk 88 changes it completely.
This is quite the truth. 88 Flak plays far, far differently from vanilla FL, and the primary goal of the mod in fact was to completely revamp the combat system into a faster, class-based solution. Instead on focusing on creating new content, the focus was put on designing as many new features into Freelancer as possible. Updated graphics just happen to be one of these - if you're looking for a real graphics-intensive mod, check out Plasmafire, headed by Firekiss. While he abuses the bloom shader a bit much, most of his artistic work is simply stunning.

Well, since you put it that way, quality over quantity.;)(lol kidding)

While the morring fixture object has since been changed and the effect tweaked slightly, I'll admit that these are indeed a function-over-fashion design - planets were discovered to be less secure than most other places in the system, so this is simply a working fix to make hanging around a hostile planet a terrible decision.
' Wrote:You can fly stations and loot them? o.0
Yes, you can both pilot every station / WP in the game (roughly 30 different ones), as well as fully loot both NPC-flown and traditional static stations. This "looting" includes both Credit Chip (commodity form of credits) drops and a single Turret drop, which you can then mount on your Station / Battleship. The same looting is also used on fighters (though note that player-flown ships do NOT drop a piece of equipment, but still drop all cargo).
' Wrote:Those are pretty cool, i also downloaded that mod, but it say you need to have a clean install of Fl, so, that was a no go for me.
You CAN run 88 Flak without a fresh install, it's just that sometimes FLMM messes up de-activating mods (88 Flak is no exception), so problems can arise when files start getting mixed up. Thus, it's more heavily recommended that you re-install, but you CAN play it without a fresh re-install.
Either way, if you try out Flak, I'd HEAVILY recommend you back up your FL directory, because there's no guarantee FLMM won't fudge up your installation for when you want to play Discovery again.
Anyways, wasn't this topic originally about missile effects? lol
