' Wrote:I saw their Mechlab version in their video for this game. I took note of the gauss ammo. If I recall the date will be 3049 when we get in-game to play. The Highlander model 732 was manufactured in 2592 using the Gauss Rifle, LRM20, SRM6 and Med lasers. The model 733 was the downgrade of it's weapon power when it switched the Gauss for an AC20 and buffed up the armour. The ComStar version you are thinking of is a newer model amongst like 12 versions in the line. The X-2.
Yeah your version is the Star League era model. They were all lost when Kerensky left the Inner Sphere and took the blueprints of it with him. The IS could not repair/build the gauss rifle, or the ammo for it. Not until the Grey Death uncovered the Datacore. If they put it in game with the Gauss rifle they are using a mech that was not available in 3049. That is the reason it was down graded to AC/20 until they uncovered the core. But i expect like almost every video game they do not stick to what is canon just because players want the toys. If so o will be dis-appointed as they are claiming they will follow the time line to a tee.
No I don't know of the Highlander being in it. But yeah I did see Gauss ammo.
The ammo makes sense, as comstar had alot of Star League era mechs pulled out of moth balls when the core was discovered. After all they had Gauss equiped mechs, but no ammo. And the Ammo is just chunks of nickel fired at hyper speed.
So if they use a few Star League Era mechs early in game as "special" or "rare" mechs it will make sense. Just not if they are available to all.
As for the game server i used to be an admin on. It was a battletech server incase all were wondering.
Love Mech Warrior, not really a geek-fan about it, but still love it. Registered and signed up for Beta, might as well be a Founder too. CATAPULT!!!! Awwwyeaaah.
Well there is always the idea that with a little financial incentive one could secure some star league cache supplies to outfit oneself with. Even after those chaps departed there were still bounties of loot discovered now and again.
Its funny when people ask you what your favorite IS House is, you say neither, and they think your a filthy clan player.
But yeah, tottally looking forward to this. I was a little miffed it wasn't going to be another great SP game, but it's cool, I'll get over it.
Already have plans to trick out a Centurion.
Also, gotta give mad props to FlyingDebris, the artist who re-designed the mechs for the game - making the Stalker not look like ass takes real talent. Centurion is just pure love <3
