Heh, you're doing what every newbie to Photoshop does: spamming the heck out of the bevel/emboss and drop shadow tools. Try using them a bit more subtly or think of alternative for better results;)

I need criticism: compliments are all well and good, but it doesn't help me improve. Anyway, I tried not to use too many blending effects here; I think it turned out good, but then, I have trouble finding problems with any of my works (not that I think I don't make mistakes, I simply can't really look at stuff I make or write with an unbiased opinion).

Sharpen your stock before you re-size it smaller, then sharpen it again. That should take out the blur from the ships you use. And really, avoid using 100% stock work you just stick together. Look up tag guides and such forth and learn to make your own backgrounds, it's really easy!

Meh, lazyness > perfectionism. To be honest though, I'm not very good at making my own things, but rather to wrap other stuff together in one package. And the images here aren't even all stock images; the only thing I got from someplace other than Freelancer (not including the text, but that's made by me) is the nebula in the background, which I edited quite a bit. As for sharpening stuff, I'll try that on the next thing I make; didn't know that would help.
