Starting in a sh*t-ship with nearly no money is just fine, I really enjoy starting from a scratch, and it adds some RP as well. And even new players can enjoy the feeling of " Building your character ".
It would ruin the fun and RP if everyone starts with best everything. or the lower-class equip was removed.
Not speaking about noobs who could be actually harmfull if they start with money/good ships.
Simply No. Big, BIG NO, to boosting starting money and/or ships.
I buy things I don't want to make an impression on people I don't like.

Me personally, I just don't see the roleplay value in having an untouchable majority of players while working my way up. I remember clawing my way up as well -- While I enjoyed the feeling of actual advancement, I also found that being defenseless in actual roleplay interaction with other players was detrimental to the overall experience. Examples:
- Getting 'pirated' for two million credits while I was flying a Camara with Class 4 shields.
- Getting dragged into combat by overzealous independent Navy characters in Guardians and Raven Claws while I had a LH~ character in a Dagger.
Not saying any ships a player would be starting in would be competitive with top-tier craft. But that, in fact, the worst ships would be on a comparable scale with the best. No ship in the same class as another ship should be forty times more durable and have fifteen times the firepower.
A Starflier with a Class 7 Shield and three Class 7 lasers would be worth a second glance, yes. But that fact would also boost the Starflier to an actually viable roleplay platform.
It would still take time to build up to competitive levels and one could roleplay that. It'd just be viable to actually come into the server and start roleplaying on a real and visceral level off the bat.

I know Skye(Jamez) would be happy.:P

Wouldn't need that, Just buff all of the old stuff to the new stats and rename or remove the old stuffs selling locations.
Ex. A Stealthblade Mrk (Class 6) I would have its stats increased to that of a Mrk II (Class 7), Rename it so it just is called the Stealthblade and your good to go.
I like working my way up. Plain and simple. And I know others do too.
No one is getting "hurt" right now with how things are. They might think it would be better a different way, but they aren't hurt by anything. On the other hand, make this change and a lot of people will be hurt. People who enjoy working their way up, with RP or not.
That's the fact of the matter, and I find it selfish to cling to a change like this.

My Starflier2 is a viable roleplay platform just the way it is, thank you very much.. *Thinks about pwning everything in a Class 7 Starflier*
..On second thoughts, yeah, Starflier sucks, lets buff it!

I like the idea of a game world where we roleplay every craft as viable because the scale has been leveled, and players starting off actually have a bit of leverage and control over their environment to go with the advancement which would still continue on another scale. Others would like this as well.
While no one is getting hurt by how things are, this could enhance the roleplay environment and bring to fruition the concept of picking a system to start your character's life in. One would still have to establish himself, and things will not be easy. The player would still have to claw his way up to an even playing field. It'd just be in an environment where you could actually pick up and play from the very beginning if you chose to.
Exploring and developing an idea by modifying it to criticisms and snags isn't selfish. This is a discussion thread.
I wouldn't like this, as much as I hated clawing my way up, theres far too many new players who first thing they do is come out and shoot the other ships. If they actually had some firepower it would annoy everyone.
so much said there can be only one conclusion dont do it.
i used on my first char many, many low level ships and equip.
and sometimes i still like to jump on a one of those.
