It does seem that some players, especially those who haven't been around long, abuse cap ships from time to time.
However, remember that there are rules in place for such situations, and consequences for breaking the rules.
If someone has a story for their ship (even if it isn't professional-quality), and it's posted, and they've put in the hours to purchase it, there is no reason to exclude them from the possibility of owning a cap ship.
If they break the rules, then let them suffer the consequences. If not, and if they contribute to the community, then there is no good reason to restrict them other than out of some sort of perverted sense of jealousy or exclusivity.
Quite honestly, all this talk about making it much harder or impossible to buy a capital ship in 4.85 will make people feel rushed to get one while they can, since this might be their last opportunity for a long time. And I know that it's not good to rush to get one, but again, if this is the last chance, you're going to inevitably force people to rush the decision.
Don't make all new players suffer for the actions of just a few.

Thanks for reading.
Unfortunately, the actions of just a few affect us all... But good point there.
It has been my opinion since I joined (Which was a long time ago) that capships should be limited for everybody, and that 90% of people out on the server should have fighters/small ships.
I understand a massive faction like RM having capital ships, I mean they have all of Rhineland supplying them with credits.
Yes well sadly, people just do not want to give up one fielding swarms of capships. The thing about them being very rarely seen, as it should be, is inexistant.
So in the interest of alleged freedoms and all, purchase of capships has been determined never to be limited

Yes but, balance is a fragile thing.
If we somehow boost them, then those people who actually use capships rationally will feel wronged, and rightfully so.
How could they be encouraged?

Well I for one like them. it's something different.
The ships are a huge component of the warefare in Sirius at present. The firepower they have is unmatched.
All these things are true.
The only problem I see is the pilot/commander and thats not always true either. I might go so far to say that you don't see the other 'good commanders' because...well, they're good. It's just a minority. We have rules in place for these minorities and thats enough. I think Sirius would be a far worse place without them.
"The cars not broken, it's the nut behind the wheel" as someone once said to me.
Well then control of the nut is needed, not too much, but present.
I do not think people could do whatever they damn well please, as long as it breaks no rules.
People usually think, Hmm fair play? Why? It's not against the rules not to, and then they go and gank someone.

I was going to type up a huge long post, but my opinion is worth less than a stick of chewing gum.
All I'd like to say is the ships are fine, it's the pilots or commanders that are the problem.
Oh and BHG are not the only ones guilty of PVP whoring, I've ran into more pvpwhore pirates than Bounty Hunters... Just flying through Sigma-13 listening to the constant ooRP messages of the pirates raises my blood pressure.. Ergh.

So very true. The point of it all is,the BH have a right and reason to have capships like any other faction, since the Core DOES have unlimited resources. The real question is:Why do the Corsairs, for example, have capships? Most of the RP is piracy to feed the people of Crete, and on the other hand, while being poor and starving, they can still build massive battleships and whatnot.Basic economy fails.IMO only the factions whose NPC's fly caps should be allowed to have/sell/fly them.
Sucks to be a weight on the wrong side of the brilliance-insanity scale.
Since I sold my Gunboat quite a while back and got myself a fighter, I can't get enough of them.
Hostile capships don't tend to ruin my day. I just hit cruise and bugger off, or buzz around it a bit until support arrives. Capship missiles are a pain in my butt though. 70 CM's versus infinite missiles is nasty. Although, my piloting skills aren't the best.
Anyway, stay away from Sigma-13. It's a hole. Also, if you find douchebags, stay away from them. It's your own fault if you got blow'd up by a lolwutter.
