and i've been wanting to draw some to kinda show what i was thinking. i threw this together today, just a rough sketch really. i never know how much detail is too much detail when making ships....that being said this one would definitely need some more work.
anywho just a racer to expand on the whole racing theme that's hidden in freelancer....ideally i'd like to make some more....maybe even inspire the better ship modelers to make some too, i'd love to see what you guys come up with.
This has merit, if you can make them double as LF. (need more of em, and thats basically all they are good for currently unless you freakin rock) frankly, id love to see more small agile ships with weak armor but fast speed, it would make dublin worth going to perhaps, as well as add a little flavor.
does multiple thrusters do anything? for that matter does multiple shields do anything? ive seen two shield hardpoints on ships on another mod, whats it do?

Multiple Thrusters actually do something. I tried a Tiger Shark with 1 Enh. Thruster and Two more replacing CM and mines using Ioncross SP Char Editor.
You fly faster a lot faster. With 3 you can go faster then cruise speed. But your thruster energy drains in 5 seconds.
obviously, the speed limitation wouldn't need to be enforced for racers since they wont have weapons (and shields?) anyway. So what we need are like 3-4 different teams sponsored by some house companies. each team should have like two racers with different stats. those should have a variance in turning speed, Cruise charge-up and cruise speed.
That needs to be balancing on the basis of established racing tracks, tbh.
I think the RC used to be dual-thruster waaay way back...
If these ships can't be used in combat (no weapons hardpoints, etc...) Then it's rather a nice idea. Shame reallt that there is only one race-track outside of conneticut.
The ship concept is nice, and I think a lot of fun could be had with it.
