Outcast Navy fighter pilot Hector Tosti heads to the CAG briefing room on the Bastia Outpost. "Damn I hate it out here.." he thinks to him self "It's like this system is haunted, On these long patrols I swear I can hear the screams form Corsica when it exploded" He continues walking until he enters the CAG & takes his daily mission assignment & briefing.
"Ahh Tosti" exclaims the Commander of the Air Group "Good to see you, I have a easy assignment for you today. You will be the lead in patrol of E 6 sector." he announces. "Aye sir" he answers. "Damn it" he thinks again "If all the sectors I hate the most, Close to the remains of Corsica & the cursed black hole." "That damn thing gives me the willies, I swear one day we gonna get sucked into it"
" And that odd spacial anomaly that glows like a star, yet has no corona & can't be scanned"
He continues to curse under his breath as he heads to the fighter hanger in the dock area of the outpost. "Might as well get this over with..."
Two hours later while on patrol with Sabre's Delta 9 & Delta 12 they approach the odd anomaly he was complaining about earlier. "Sir, I have something on my scanner" Delta 12 announces. "What the hell?" Hector thinks to himself, "There's never anything out here" "Set a course to it Delta 12, lets check it out"
Moments later an object appears on Hectors scanner, "it's small, very small, not big enough to be a ship, but.. a pod, yes that's got to be what it is. But how did it get out here" Hector wonders "Sir.. Uhh I am detecting life signs coming from that pod" Delta 9 announces "Copy, approach with caution, scan for any radiation & tractor it in, we'll take it to command to make a decision on what to do with it." Hector replies "Odd, a pod out here.. but no signs of any ship, where the hell did it come from" Hector thinks out loud
"Sir, Delta 9 here, Pod secure, but uhh sir..." The pilot hesitates "Well what is it Delta 9?" Hector responds & wonders "Sir, this pod has the Maltese Naval Command Cross on it" Delta 9 answers 'What the hell is going on?" Hector wonders "There are no missing commanders, nor ships that I know of, How this pod get out here by the anomaly? Where the hell is the ship it came from?"
"Delta 9 & Delta 12, lets get this back to Bastia as fast as possible, I'll radio ahead"
"Copy sir" both ships respond
"Bastia Control this is Delta Lead, requesting emergency landing clearance & have the base commander meet us in the hanger... We have found something.." Hector nervously transmits to the base traffic control "Copy Delta lead, you have priority clearance, all ships remain in holding patterns until further notice. Delta lead, the commander will meet you in Hanger bay Echo." Bastia answers "Copy Hanger Echo, Were on approach now Bastia, starting landing protocol"
The three Sabres land in formation in the secured Echo hanger. A engineering & guard team unload the pod out of Delta 9's hold.
"What the hell?!? it has a Commanders Cross on it!" exclaims the base commander "Aye sir" & we detected faint life signs, like you would find in stasis" Hector replies. "Well open the damn thing up, lets see what we have here" the commander exclaims
As the pod seal is broken a misting fog fills the area obstructing the view into the pod for a moment, Then the commander can see in & as he gazes upon the figure in the pod, he turns as pale as a sheet, as if he has just seen a ghost.
"Oh my god.. It's can't be! but it is.. It's her!!!"
Her eyes fluttered open as she flexed her slender, pale right hand. And it tingled. Everything tingled.
She stared up at a sterile, white ceiling. Her fingers-past that obnoxious tingling-felt linen, cloth. She turned her head as much as she could to the left (not very far) and saw the top of an IV pole; she was in a hospital, of that there was no doubt. She felt for the touchpad that, logically, should be off to the right side, and pressed what felt like an arrow-shaped stud. She pressed it gently-
"Ah-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-uuuh."
Nope, definitely not. That would be the massager. She felt for another arrow. There.
The bed rose up about thirty degrees. The tingling was lessening; She could move her limbs more freely and turn her neck farther. She looked around; it was a cleanroom, with a large surface area and multiple machines placed all around it; she noticed several of them had quantum waveform displays, a gravimetric scanner was buzzing away in the corner; they were all showing readings slightly over normal. She looked towards the door-there were two large, burly Marines on the outside, both with heavy assault rifles.
She tried to speak. "N-nurse..." It wasn't loud-she felt like her voice hadn't been used in months-but the biosystems apparently caught it and alerted the staff, because three nurses and a grey-haired doctor came jogging through the door, decked out in filter-masks and gloves. Their hands coursed across her body and the monitors, checking the monitors and making sure she was stable. She glanced over at the biosystem analyzer.
March 18th, 817 A.S.
And then it hit her. She couldn't remember anything that had happened in the last six months.
