I just can't make a decision of which faction I want to be in, where I would have 100% fun in and isn't getting boring after 1 hour. I've written down all factions, went by the official and unofficial factions and I just cannot decide as nothing feels right.
Now I think I'm just loosing it more and more every time I try to figure it out. So now I'm here, and I see this as my last option, I would like opinions of you who care to share them. I think that you opinion will help me finding my spot in Freelancer Discovery.
Of course for 99% of you I'm a nobody, and therefore cannot give me a opinion. Thats why I can give you some things I like and dislike. I really hope this is first the right section to post this in, and second that you will help me out here as I'm driving nuts!
Lawful or Unlawful? I don't care, I would enjoy RP pirating a trader as well as protecting one.
PVE or PVP? I prefer PVP over PVE as PVE gets rather boring quickly, however a combination of both is best.
Trader or Fighter? Fighter, I get bored on trading WAY to quick
You enjoy flying in capships, or rather smaller ships? I'm somebody that has no interests in capital ships, nor bombers. I enjoy flying a VHF the most.
Opinion over Liberty: It's a hectic sector, lots of negative energy there
Opinion over Bretonia: I don't have anything with the whole British thing
Opinion over Rheinland: I like the pride Rheinlanders carry
Opinion over Kusari: I like the spiritual stuff about them, just not a corrupt government.
I couldn't think of anything else, and I hope it's enough.
As you see I'm desperate enough to make a thing like this, and I really want to find my place here soon. I know everyone is multi-joining but I don't even have one faction where I'm at peace, not to mention two!
So, you enjoy both pirating traders and protecting them? I know you may have some problems with Bretonia, but we do have a faction which allows us to do both, namely the privateer wing. In Bretonia, you're basically an armed forces officer, protecting trading, shooting down corsairs and Kusari, but once out in the taus or Kusari, you have the right to pirate almost anything which is foolish enough to be within CD range. Plus, you can use the constant "OMG I waz pirated by BAF" flame threads to heat your home, and cut down your carbon emissions.
Yes, I think the answer here is join more than one faction. One first, then the other once you get bored. I myself am a member of two factions and I'm working on starting a new one.
Actually, I think Liberty is much less hectic nowadays. But if you ask me, the Lane Hackers hace a job vacancy for an IW pirate based off of Leiden Base, Galileo.
Shikoku, Kepler, Colorado are just one jump from there and main commerce hunting grounds - at the trade lanes. I think it's a fine place to be, just not many people like the dark matter clouds.
Ships you'd fly in: fighters, transports (can get access to a shared one - primarily for carrying stolen loot)
+ fun with the Lane Hackers
+ a kind of piracy you have probably never seen before
+ Liberty Rogue friends
+ surprises - as not many try to explore the RP opportunities of this area
+ credits - you certainly won't be lacking those. During your career, you will transfer exactly 0 credits from one of your trader characters (you don't have to have any at all)
+ training as well as non-PvP related tips and tricks
- environment (can be depressing a bit, but that actually fits the Lane Hacker roleplay...)
But if you really can't decide - make a Freelancer character and fly around Sirius and try to hang around with one faction, then with another. And until you find some that you like, you can stick to freelancing in an Eagle, I guess.
The depressing environment of liberty is indeed true, maybe thats getting used to. However I think Liberty Rogue is something I like more then Lane Hackers. And as second I could indeed make a Rheinland military / police.
