Erhm...pirates are pirates, who said they have to be nice, and who said you have to accept.

I guess he's just disappointed with the tax, as he only gets away with one million credits profit.
That's reasonable - I think some pirates need to scale down, as the economy has also dropped... I've seen some asking for 5 million on routes which don't make any profits like that.
Edit: of course, pirates are typically greedy in roleplay, but traders are much more likely to use exploits to avoid high taxes. You don't have to ask for lower amounts, just you'll be more likely to get RP interactions when you demand less.
If you make high demands from a trader, and they are displeased by the outcome, you can expect that that trader is unlikely to pass by again, thus depriving you of the opportunity to RP with him. However, if you demand a relatively small amount, along with some nice RP, the trader is more likely to pass by, and may, in fact, alter his route to encounter you.
As a factionalised pirate, you are very obvious, and very easy to avoid, should traders so wish.
You know, I'd like to see what you would do if you ran into the BAF Privateers. They are a bit stricter, 4 million or all you cargo. And you wonder why I make this comparison? Think about it, we aren't much different from the Privateers. We are trying to stop trade through enemy territory. Granted, they are a much more powerful force but still.
One thing I am quite interested in is your take on the cardamine trade, as the Barrier Gate station refers to the Mollys being angry at their loss of the market. Any opinions on this?

as a leader of a trading faction I would also like to see pirates scale back their demands, as the trading profit has been deliberatly nerfed. we aren't here to make each other's lives miserable right? Right.
on a side note, welcome back Doug, how'd I know it was you I was getting complaints about?
